I like your nook, MontanaBill. We have an 8' X 14' pantry off the kitchen for our food storage and stuff. I put in a utility sink in the corner, and -- at canning time -- I bring in one of those one-burner propane stoves (I can't get a big 5-gal canning pot hot enough on a stove-top). I like the way you put in the spice rack where it is.

Dawn and I just started a woodworking class at our JuCo. The problem there is that I know how to use my tools, but I tend to rush and do a sloppy job. Hopefully, the class will remind me to "measure twice and cut once" as well as some more fancy joinery. This is something every prepper/homesteader ought to know!

Had leftover pork chop with basil cream sauce and peas.

I cooked a turkey today, so tonight we'll have turkey sandwiches with a pasta dish called Winter Stew.

What is winter stew?

It's a dish that does not need fresh ingredients. It is a very good food storage recipe, really. Has pasta (penne), kidney beans, canned carrots, mushrooms, veg broth, soy sauce, pepper, paprika, cornstarch, chopped tomatoes. I have lots of frozen fresh chopped tomatoes from our garden, so I used that, but could of used canned, instead.

The fig pudding sounds excellent!
Husband is having a big salad with turkey on it. We have leftover winter stew. And I'm making some brats with the good bread rolls.
I cooked another 18 lb turkey today, and put 5 qt bags of cooked meat in the freezer.

The wife is making spaghetti tonight and I'm making the cheese toast.

Making Chicken Stir Fry for dinner.

Haven't made it in a very long time ... my stir fry sauce (unopened) expired a year ago! If I disappear, you'll know why!

I've never had or seen fig pudding. Sounds like something I'd like, figs are a favorite. Got a picture?
