Was in emergency with hubby. He tried to cut his finger off unloading a wood splitter. Got home only to discover we had two guests coming. So I I ran to Dollar General and grabbed a box of chicken and chicken tenders. Thought I had a full bag of fries in the freezer. I didn't. So I used up the partial bags of fries and tots. Made salad and corn. Chocolate cream pie for dessert.

It wasn't what I had planned but it did fill us up and clear out a little space in the freezer.
Hope your hub's ok!!

Funny y'all should mention soup, I'm just now starting my homemade turkey soup after macking another delicious brunch plate of turkey & stuffing from the bird, all covered in homemade gravy with cranberry sauce and spicy brown mustard on the side, lol. Sometimes, I like a dab of mustard with my turkey, 10-4? Anyway, I'm gonna get on the cider making here in a bit, after I set up this stupid phone...

Wife found a local lady who makes meat pies and various deserts.

Had to support a local artisan.

Here's my homemade turkey soup, I have a HUGE pot of it, lol... and I put plenty of BIG CHUNKS of turkey and veggies in there, along with pasta shells & seasonings, WOOHOO!!!

This stuff is THICK yet JUICY too, each bowl could feed an Ethiopian village for at least a month, lol. I'll probably freeze some later once it cools down a bit, I'm not really hungry yet because I SAMPLED the fare as I went along, lol. I just took another spoonful and boy, is this soup ever TASTY! I like lots of turkey & veggie chunks in my soup too, no goldurned 'SIDEWALK SISSY SOUP' will be served in MY galley, BWAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!

P.S. That military-style pot is at least 2.5 or 3 gallons, so I reckon I won't run out of soup for awhile, lol. ;)

The landlady sent up a quart of some kind of thing that was almost stew, almost chili, maybe soup? anyway it was full of veggies and three kinds of meat. wasn't bad.

Took some venison spaghetti sauce out of the freezer. Didn't want to wait for spaghetti, so I cooked up ramen with half the water and half a pack of seasoning. Topped everything with parmesan.

The rest of the spaghetti sauce will go over a baked potato with butter and probably sour cream, tomorrow.

Since I figured out I can cook pasta faster by boiling the water in a kettle first (faster than heating on induction cooker), I made spaghetti for the first time. It turned out OK. Mom said it needed "more Italian seasoning". I don't have Italian seasoning and don't know what is in it. Basil? Oregano? The sauce from the jar tasted pretty seasoned to me. I added garlic powder though.
My brother ate half a bowl but was feeling sick and threw it up. He said it wasn't the food, just that he's not feeling well bc he's upset about losing his cat.

Italian seasoning is in the spice rack at the dollar store for less than a buck. it's literally called Italian seasoning.:)
Maybe his cat will come home or a new one will come along? I'm overly fond of my babies too, they're like my kids.

I checked the local stores and the "Italian seasoning" was not on the shelves. I even looked for it online at the local stores. They don't have it in stock in my area. The stores have been missing a LOT of items lately. Personally, I thought it had enough seasoning once I added parmesan cheese. His cat at the vet yesterday. Started having seizures while getting treatment & they said he couldn't be saved. Cat was only 2 years old so my brother is devastated.
