I guess maybe the bone and skin gave them added flavor? Makes sense, since I prefer bone-in rib-eye steaks and pork chops.

Picked up ribs last night, ate the rest tonight. Every wonder why ribs taste so good? A little meat on a big chunk of bone!!! It's why I eat a lot of chicken wings. In the words of Alton Brown... a very high skin/bone to meat ratio! Yummy

I made curry out of lamb shanks yesterday ( mostly bone there too ) and it was SOOOO good! I think curry made with meat that still has bones tastes better, even if it is annoying to process. I cooked them in the pressure cooker, took off the meat and then cooked it some more but only took half hour

yesterday we were at a friend's house had steak bbq on the grill, pasta salad, regular salad, good wine, lemon bars.
Fun swimming around until the teenage boys started getting crazy then us old folks got out.
Tonight is date night and headed into town for sushi.

I'm thinking about California Chicken Sandwiches for dinner tonight (that's what restaurants call them here). Grilled chicken breast with melted Swiss cheese, lettuce, tomato, avocado, mayo on a bun. Not sure about the side dish yet. Maybe sauteed spinach. Maybe roasted Brussels sprouts/mushrooms. Maybe corn on the cob.

Picked up a couple burritos in town after spending the day at the waterpark with sister and kids. They were tasty and I have an extra for lunch tomorrow. Working on a beer right now too.

Last night we had de-constructed beef cabbage role - casserole, that the wife made 5 months ago.

We have 12 8"X8" stainless steel pans, when we make a casserole with make 2, eat 1 freeze 1. They are nice because if you know you are going to be busy you can take one out to thaw, cook, and eat with minimal work....
We do:
Chicken Tortilla
Chicken Broccoli
Chicken Ritz
Chicken rice/mushroom
Beef cabbage
Lasagna
Shepard's pie
Beef/Chicken/Turkey Pot Pie (what ever meat we have available)

The wife gets board easily so if you have a favorite casserole that freezes well I would love to hear about it!

We got our beef back from the butcher. We grilled some T bones right off. It was so good I might have teared up a little bit.

Also, the fat! Fat gives meat flavor. Ever know someone who manicured meat so that no fat was left, and the flavor was gone? I have.

General Tso' Chicken served up on Basmati rice with fresh steamed asparagus for a side.

Grocery store filet mignons. Tiny. Nothing special. Just your basic, on-sale. filet migons.

Wife and I fought over the grill on the deck (quite comical), and I surrendered (she is, after all, the better cook by far...so I had to set my male ego aside). She did a spectacular job. She made some very mediocre steaks turn out spectacularly. I mean...I don't know how she did it. She made some cheap cuts taste like prime, with no thermometer, no science, just "feel" and "smell." It undoes me when she cooks by "smell," but it always seems to work for her.

The boy and I had 2; the wife had 1. Plus baked potatoes, and fruit.

And I had a too-expensive, sophisticated glass of Spanish Rioja with dinner (tasted of leather...and Spaghetti Westerns). What can I say?...Heaven.

Foil packs on the grill.

Kitchen is all ripped out for remodeling. The wife and I and our boy made campout foilpacks and put them on the grill. Mostly chicken fillets, potatoes, carrots, onions and campbell's golden mushroom soup for seasoing (with some salt and pepper) wrapped in foil. Pretty basic. The boy just had grilled chicken with BBQ sauce...of course...wouldn't want to eat any of those veggies/roots.. But, a nice night on the deck with family.
