Is there a CAA group in your area? You know Chicken Aholic Annon. 😂

@Pearl and @Spikedriver The bull snakes here are more like Spike said close in appearance to a rattler but a different shaped head.

A good day but didn't get much accomplished. The church I've started at isn't until 11AM so smack dab in the middle of the day - makes it difficult in some ways. Guess I'm just a sunrise service sorta gal. I did get the headliner dyed for the bronco. Will call this week to work out the details of taking it in, when will I get it back and the laundry list of things to do to it.

Must be in the air, Tank Girl. My car is in the driver with the battery charger on it. I'll get an appt at the auto place this week for it's oil change and a new battery put in.
Had a good dinner at my cousins place this evening, winding down. Tomorrow being a holiday, everything here is shut down. Today, too, since it's Sunday.

I just had to put 2 new batteries in the trailer yesterday.

LadyLocust's to do list: peel veggies with 1945 peeler!!

I got my new office sized cross cut paper shredder and I LOVE IT.

It works even better than I had hoped and I got a bit crazed looking through the house for things to shred.
Now that I'm reasonablly calm I'll drag out a fold out chair and a 'file' tote and start working my way through 10 years worth the documents.

What language are you speaking? Ha Ha.
I was looking pretty confused tonight when my favorite cousin's 7 yr old granddaughter wanted some vassa melone. Pronounced that way, anyway. (watermelon). I was standing in her way. Not racist. I learned a new word.
Maybe we could get the kid to try the vegetable peeler?? 😁

I’m going to clean up the bbq grill, the griddle and the outdoor canopy.
I grilled for 12 family members, had a great time , ate too much, everybody enjoyed it until around 11:45 pm last night when we had a pack of coyotes came to investigate, the women were ready to go when they got within about 100 yards and were in a pack of about 7-8 in full hunt mode.

We had too many lights on for them to get too much closer, it only took one round from my 40 cal to send then on down the road. I guess they smelled the bbq and thought they would come check it out. They don’t bother me I just shoot them when I see them but the girls are not keen to them.

It is hot and humid today. I added hosta's around the Redbud and the Maple tree in according to my wife's request. I added to my drip irrigation system, fertilized, and watered all the trees. Right now I'm letting my shirt dry and drinking some water before going back out for the next outdoor project of the day...

They just wanted a snack😃

No clue what's going on today. Grandson just left to help the neighbor (and his boss) with cleaning out his sheep barns. He's got a bad back, so grandson usually goes down there. Granddaughter will probably want to get a few chores done ASAP so she can hang out with the boyfriend. It's hot and windy and humid. 72 out already and the wind is blowing. I have enough to keep myself busy today.

I'm taking a break, it's hot outside. I am trying to document building 1 of my raised bed lids and gathering and organizing everything made me late, it was over 100F by the time I actually started "working" on the lid.... I had made 3 kits, but it has become clear to me after I finish the first one I will be done for the day, at least outside.... I think I'll eat a cookie and drink a soda ;)

Hey @Peanut, what tinctures are you making?
That's a loaded question... lol. The only tincture I made last week that stands out was Monarda, gonna need a lot of it. There was Usnea which I badly needed and something else.

Every spring I make a master list for the growing season. 1) Everything gets inventoried, all supplies for the season are checked or ordered, alcohol purchased. (2) I have to finish processing all the tinctures I made last year that weren't needed. (3) This year I'm also replacing any Simplers tinctures from 8-10yrs ago with quality volume tinctures I make these days. (4) All the tinctures I need (large or small) gets listed by week they should be ready to harvest for the rest of the year.

(5) I also do a lot of scouting this time of year. Finding where herbs I'm going to need are growing, good places to harvest. For instance, if I need to harvest Goldenrod in August I want to know now, in May, where I'll harvest from. I try to have a couple backup locations listed for each herb. I monitor these locations all summer for changes.

I call all of this activity "Making tinctures" and it's an ever changing list...

I scouted elderberry blooms yesterday, should be ready by the weekend. Elderberry doesn't give a lot of lead time, maybe a week. Never know exactly when it'll bloom or how much will be available. Today I harvested Plantago major and have last years goldenrod to process.

Monarda from last week...

Wow, that post by Peanut shows me just how ignorant I am in this department... I'd be "processing" that Smirnoff, pronto, and that's about the limit of my processing skills.

My weed plants are thriving though, maybe I should take 'em with me if I happen to relocate... gotta watch the laws in those 'flyover states' if I do actually flip this home, no need to get busted for a few plants, lol.

I am doing nothing today, until I have to go to work tonight for 4 hours.
I did lower the flag to half staff last night after dark and raised it at noon today, so I guess I did do something.

Yesterday I finally put the hose timers on the last two irrigation lines in the yard so now everything that needs to be watered regularly is self sufficient. As long as I keep and eye on them to make sure they are working all summer.
I made up a couple sprinkler lines out of 1/2" black irrigation tubing, one for the side of the house and for the back garden area. They will only be used maybe once a week or so and will be whenever I connect a hose to them. I don't plan to put a timer to them, mainly because I am running low on water sources and also because I don't want to spend $40 for each timer.

Stay safe and enjoy Memorial Day.🇺🇲

Lots of housework, lots of repotting in the greenhouse. Under tornado warning till 1 am. Not putting out any more tomato plants till the weather straightens out a bit. They are getting stem snapped from the winds.
Getting ready for a 7:15 am birthday breakfast tomorrow at my favorite cousins, for her daughter in law. I swear these amish women never, ever sleep. So I got the gift ready (kitchen hand towels and canning lids), and the snack I'm bringing (white cheddar cheese curls), and we are told to wear something old. Not something like old workclothes to do something in, but something that is old. Came up with a locket that husband and my photos are in from when we were dating. We're old. And a sash from my grandma's wedding dress (1920). No way can I fit into her dress, or her mom's dress. But in fairness, they would of worn those in their 20's. I'm far from that. Grandson has been working at his boss's rental house all day, and he came home tired out. Granddaughter just left with her boyfriend. He came over to pick her up, and she was in the roundtop with my husband, greasing the tractor, and then she took it for a spin. I don't think the boyfriend has seen that side of her. He's kinda a wussie townboy. So she needed a quick shower, and he is not allowed upstairs because it is not appropriate. I told him to sit and watch the end of a John Wayne movie. He stuck his face in his phone.
