I was doing 50 or 60 down the two lane road when my speedometer went to zero. The speedometer on my '63 VW Bug was run by a cable to my left front wheel. I knew immediately that my car was hydroplaning and that I had no steering. That was enough "fun" driving through the rain as I want.
Exactly,I don't like driving in the rain either, especially if it's pouring,I'd rather drive in snow.

@The Lazy L town water usage here in Australia is measured by a water meter that each house has on the street. I think but am not sure that each real estate has to register how many people live in each property to council. Not sure that the council really knows how many people really do live in any particular property. As part of our rental lease we are allowed 100 000 litres of water per 6 months free regardless of restrictions which was one reason why we rented this old cottage because of us planning to have vegetable gardens.

@tiffanysgallery we have purchased and installed 2 x 1100lt collapsible rain water tanks in the rental property to aid us with watering the gardens with in case of dry weather etc. We extended the roof gutter drainage pipes at the side of the house with an extension piece of pvc pipe and put the tanks underneath it. The 2 are connected with 19mm pipe so they equalise during large rain storms. We use this to supplement water our vegetable gardens with and also to bucket wash our car with.

Started off the morning a bit brisk at 0 oC so no outside work until it warmed up a bit but we did separate out the rosemary we dried in the house picked from the gardens making 109g worth. Then I paid all the bills online and added some money to our emergency kitty and put the grocery money in the high interest bank account to earn some interest as we only go shopping once every 2 - 3 months. I also popped a loaf of bread on in the bread making machine and when a tad warmer I went into the front gardens and picked 518 g of cherry tomatoes from the gardens and brought them inside.

Having been sick with the flu the vegetable gardens have little or no attention for a while so we decided to make it a gardening day and we weeded 2 x 7 x 2 m garden beds and another 2 x 9 x 2mt garden beds. I then fertilised 2 canna lily beds and 2 other vegetable gardens with a tonic of Seaweed solution and added a side dressing of urea pellets around the silver beet and capsicum plants and watered that in whilst DH re potted our by now root bound mandarin and Lisbon lemon trees into larger pots and added some well composted cow manure into the potting mix and he fertilised them for another 3 months with citrus fertiliser. DH then started fertilising the other 2 garden beds in the back paddock gardens while I added some hay to the tops of the two transplanted fruit trees on the veranda. I then joined DH to finish fertilising the rest of the vegetable garden beds.

Back inside where DH started cooking our sausage, egg and cheese sandwiches for dinner and then we both had a warm shower and are sitting nestled in front of the slow combustion fireplace getting nice and toasty warm as we are expecting another cold one tonight.

just got the internet back up. it's been down for a week. oldest daughter is in the hospital in california. her blood sugar spiked to over 300 . she is doing much better. she didn't know she was diabetic. follow up with her doctor when she gets home. hubby has heart surgery thursday. when it rains it pours.

Well so far I've been up since 4am. Got hubby ready and out the door for work with a pat on his butt. Had more coffee and read the news online. Watched videos of the president in Singapore. Had breakfast. Got a load of laundry going. Hoed the raised beds and covered the zucchini plants with DE . Have to plant another row of radishes in a window box.
Just capped 2 quarts of strawberries and am eating a bowl with whipped cream. Plan on using some for strawberry pancakes and the rest for snacks. Have more laundry to do. Gotta wash the dishes after lunch and figure out what to make for supper lol Have to straighten up my clothes closet because apparently trolls go in there and make a mess when I'm not looking
So thats my day so far lol

@timmie Praying for your hubbie's heart surgery to go well and with a complete recovery!

Yesterday, had to go to TSC. Back home, I made 24 vanilla cupcakes with blueberries and 12 corn muffins with blueberries. Also cream cheese frosting.

Today, making Italian roll ups and little cucumber ham sandwiches and peanut butter apples to take to game day along with a few cupcakes. Will try to remember to take a photo later. Today is also laundry day and I'm halfway through! Need to take some eBay photos for DH later.

Been busy with grand daughter Estelle every day.
we now know why she has been so cranky.
Now she's all smiles, giggles at least for a few days.
Been helping Estelle's mom, big sister move.
3 families in one 3 bedroom house doesn't work.
Today we move the big furniture.
Dressers, beds, pantries, portable closets made of Old growth Oak.
Of course the tv's, game systems etc.
Granny cleaned out half of sewing room yesterday.
had nephew who is expecting their second child (girl) come and pick up car load of stuff from my apartment.
They hit pay dirt: 1 year old car seat Estelle out grew, 3 huge bags of clothes newborn- 6 months, all seasons,
Exercise saucer,2 big bags of crib sheets, blankets, in varies shades of pink, lavender, mauve.
Amazing how much stuff went to nephew and his wife.

(Rant)
Today I found out a good friend of mine in Colorado was hit by a car while he was walking. He was thrown some distance. Broke ribs and bruised his spleen among other injuries. The driver of the car ran a red light hit another car and still hit my friend quite hard. He is in his thirties and will be OK.
Now the rant part. The driver was an illegal. No insurance or license. This is the second friend of mine that was hit and suffer serious injuries by an illegal with no insurance or license.
It makes me think it happens A LOT. The illegal in this case walked away without being arrested. He is likely driving around again as I am typing this.
Yes I am a very bitter racist.

Not racist, you did no care or mention what race he was, simply an illegal. Not racist in my book, simple fact.

Round 1 for today is DH started off the morning with stain removing some clothing, putting on a load of washing and hanging them on the clothes line to dry and then he watered half of the front lawn and some of the driveway with saved grey water from our showers and washing machine. Next was my turn and I put on a load of washing on in the washing machine, hung it on the line and watered some of the front lawn with saved grey water from our showers and washing machine.

In to the kitchen where DH washed the dishes and cleaned the benches and I wiped them and put them away and got all the equipment out for blanching and freezing more sweet potatoes. I put the water in the steamer stock pot on the stove top and turned it on to boil. While I was taking a break from washing and watering DH sorted out 2 more loads of sweet potatoes for the stock pot from the front veranda and washed them while he was waiting for the water to boil. 1 load blanched and cooled and the second batch now in the steamer.

Between breaks on doing the blanching and freezing DH has paid the rent and a few other bills and most of his pay went into our house deposit savings for the fortnight.

Have to wait for the sweet potatoes to finish cooking and cooling and then we will peel them, dice them, dip them in a lemon juice solution to stop them browning and then package them in bags for the freezer and more food storage. Looks like we will have two complete baskets full of them in our 400lt freezer when we have finished :D making a years worth for us.

Tonight's dinner will be spaghetti bolognaise with cherry tomatoes picked and diced from our gardens in the freezer and some beef that needs to be used in the freezer and spaghetti and spices from our food storage.

Round 2 of today is that we finished blanching, freezing and dipping the sweet potatoes in a lemon juice mixture and have 14 more meals for the freezer, only 36 more to go and we will have a years worth. Can you tell I am counting as we are getting sick of seeing more sweet potatoes but grateful we have them at the same time.

Went into the front gardens and harvested all the ripe English and French lavender and DH bundled them with elastic bands as we did it and we have just finished tying them to a curtain rod in the hallway to dry.

Thanks @Sewingcreations15
I finally found something that I think will be reliable enough a couple days ago. I've also put a deposit and a month's rent to start in July in Florence Alabama. Things are really looking up, and it all became possible through all y'all.

Oh I am so happy for you @gumpy that you have found accomodation and found a reliable car and things are improving for you :) . Had you have lived down under in Australia you would have been welcome here and there would have been a room for you.

God works in mysterious and miraculous ways and often through others I have found.
