This is the basic recipe I follow. I double it to can in two crockpots so I do it less often. Basic stew without seasoning. Easy to me!

doctor postponed hubby's surgery until june 28. daughter is getting out of california hospital today and heading home. it was not a good feeling to know i couldn't get to her way out there.

Bit of drama here in the slums yesterday afternoon.

Back neighbours have always been trouble and that particular rental house has a knack of always attracting the wrong sorts and,
so long as they stay behind that 6 foot fence I don't start trouble with them.
When they start acting up, I get inside and make sure the windows and doors are locked and just hunker down until the police break it up
and cart someone off to the lock-up.

Well, they had over 8 plain clothes detectives, more police than I could count and the forensics unit.
No dog squad, or paramedics or fire fighters...for once lead me to believe it was another drug lab bust.

The truly sad thing is these people had small children.
What sort of life have these poor kids had and the things they've had to witness.

Still, in the aftermath there's been a measure of very welcome peace and quiet.

It's part of the reason why I get out into the gardens before sun-up.
They're not early risers at all.
I'm out there again at dinner time for the same reasons.

Thanks. We did a walk around and checked everything when I got the first alert. The winds aren't to bad. Only about 50mph or so.

I only have one can of beets left so I have to go to the grocery store to get 2 cases today. I also need to get another bottle of tylenol arthritis. I'm almost out of that too.
I've been wanting to go to one store here to see what they have now since its summer. In the winter I found a beautiful camel colored woman's dress coat for only $25 ( retail was over $100). Not a thing wrong with it just wasn't "in style" for the season/year. ( who cares its a dress coat). I have a couple of everyday winter coats but nothing nice enough to wear when " going out".
I grilled extra marinated chicken beasts yesterday so I plan on making us fajitas for supper today
Local farm market has some of their blueberries ripe ( mine still aren't) so I want to swing by there to get some. Nothing like blueberry muffins. num

WVDragonlady...don't waste your money on the Tylenol Arthritis. Look at the ingredients (my pharmacist daughter tells me). It's just a higher amount of Tylenol, nothing else special in it. Look at the amount of Tylenol in it, and get the same store brand with the same amount. You'll save $$ for the same thing.
Off to get husband's breakfast made and lunch. Then to do the animals, then on to work. Would love to skip the work part today, but not happening. Class at 6 again this evening. Tonight we get to play tag team home invasion with the blue (fake) shotguns and pistols. Last night was New Mexico state law classwork.

Been busy with grand daughter Estelle every day.
we now know why she has been so cranky.
Now she's all smiles, giggles at least for a few days.
Been helping Estelle's mom, big sister move.
3 families in one 3 bedroom house doesn't work.
Today we move the big furniture.
Dressers, beds,pantries,portable closets made of Old growth Oak.
Of course the tv's, game systems etc.
Granny cleaned out half of sewing room yesterday.
had nephew who is expecting their second child (girl) come and pick up car load of stuff from my apartment.
They hit pay dirt: 1 year old car seat Estelle out grew, 3 huge bags of clothes newborn- 6 months, all seasons,
Exercise saucer,2 big bags of crib sheets, blankets, in varies shades of pink,lavender,mauve.
Amazing how much stuff went to nephew and his wife.
In another couple of weeks will take them the walker too.View attachment 7552
