Home today getting a bunch of work done!! Laundry, and heading outside again shortly to start on the donkey pen. Cool and overcast this morning, nice day to get things done. Also waiting to hear from my sister in law, my brother is back in the hospital. Looks like more colon cancer! He is also having kidney issues! They are doing tests today so I won't drive to Fort Worth to see him, will go tomorrow!

Sorry to hear that about your brother, Pearl. I'm not doing much of anything right now except sipping my customary tea. We had heaps of rain since yesterday evening, and the ground outside is all soggy... no watering today, I won't even have to mess with the birdbaths since they're all brim-full. I'll probably give myself a haircut later this morning, I noticed the sides & back are getting shaggy (over 1/4", lol). No riding the thumper until midweek at the earliest, the trails will be a muddy mess. Meh, the bike isn't going anywhere, and neither are the trails.

I need to install some sort of bolt on my bedroom door, the kittens have figured out how to open the door since the regular plate by the knob is outta whack... I may be able to reposition it so the door closes properly, might have to use a wood chisel to enlarge or shift the hole so the door works right again. These manufactured homes dating back to the '70s or '80s often have a little settling, just enough to put door frames slightly out of whack... the doors still close, but the frames are lopsided to the point where the latches & plates no longer line up correctly.

The replacement title to my totalled car came in the mail today. I got some paperwork done and am preparing to send that all in so I can get paid. Been car shopping online. It's a frustrating experience because used car prices are so insane right now. There's a dealer nearby in rebuilt title cars that says he's getting a 2015 Toyota Camry in a few days that was totalled for hail damage. It is supposed to have 123,000 miles and will be around $13,000. That sounds like exactly what I'm looking for.
I guess I missed the part where you wrecked your car? I recall you were saving up to buy a new one but in 2 years since you have no payments. What a bummer!

My daughter T-boned an old Chevy S-10 with my little SUV. She only had her license for 3 weeks. At first the insurance wanted to fix it but the body shop said there was enough damage that they'd have to mess with the frame.

Finished a long but productive work week.
I spent 4.5 days deep cleaning around my work area n machine while my forklift driver got some running time on my machine. He is going to stack lumber on Saturdays, they changed his schedule so he can keep the sorter empty of full bins, build track of lumber and prepare the kilns on Saturdays now. So, I was there to help him when he needed it and took the time opportunity to deep clean at least a year of built up compacted sawdust n hydrolic oil piles that build up under roll cases n into corners.
It took me 7 hours one day to shovel, rake n airhose blast underneath my outfield rolls.
It was really gratifying to get it done..and yesterday my boss came over to thank me too so that was a bonus.
I had another wild incident driving home. A guy in a budget van got mad at me for doing 45 in a 45 zone.
Sigh...he was tailgating bad, I didnt go faster. He got pissed, laid on his horn, passed me around a double yellow. I flip him off with a smile ...and..he then ran me off the road.
Yep...it was either I let him hit me n take that chance..or hit the breaks as I'm forced into the fog line n dirt.
Well..self preservation kicked in the the second that this went down n I opted to save my truck. I didnt let him hit me n I didnt loose control.
I did think about chasing him down n shooting his tires out but in the end I just reported it n let it go.
Road rage at its finest..I wasnt up the adding to the crazy that day. Locally , last Saturday actually a local couple who run the Heartland Inn were shot n killed by a crazy guy washington state released days before he was to be sent to the loony bin to be stabilized for trial mentally for a violent crime there.
This sorta crap doesn't happen often where I'm at n I just didnt want to add to any problems.
But I'm that much more on my guard.
Today I got up early..got all the critters good for the day, finishing my coffee n now its dog walk time.
I have a gazillion projects to do too..

@Hooch I heard about that one. People are such ridiculous drivers anymore.
@Pearl so sorry to hear about your brother.
@Spikedriver good luck on the car hunt, its difficult right now. My son is trying to sell his car as he wants to purchase a truck. Used trucks are hard to come by.

We are headed out to the property again today. Moving date is 10/28! Well and pump are in, we are building a stand for the solar. Solar and pump house is in. I need to design the root cellar for storage and start building some raised beds so I can get the fall plantings in quickly.
We are trying to hurry to get all these things done before the snow sets in.

Well..hopefully this will be a great learning opportunity for her? Is she scared to drive now? Kinda a hard lesson right out the gate tho.. dang...

WOW, the 28th will be here fast!! How exciting, I'm so happy for you and your family!!

@DrJenner Used trucks are ridiculous! In my area, a two year old 4x4 with 25,000 miles on it will sell for more than what it cost to buy new! Even small economy cars like a used Toyota Corolla will sell for about $4,000 more than what they were going for two years ago. It's definitely not a good time to be car shopping. I would have just bought my old one back from insurance and got it fixed, but it already has 148,000 miles and it's 8 years old. Plus, what they would give me on a buy back probably wasn't enough to cover the frame damage and then fix the rest of the damage correctly...

Thanks Pearl, we are so ready to be out of this RV park. Yesterday some guy was blowing dust and leaves off his little space onto ours (onto our cars) and the single mom's area that lives next to us (she has a cute little set up for her 2 year old with a small pool and one of those little slides)- instead of down the road, my husband had to go out and tell him to knock it off. Such a jerk thing to do.

Yeah, she's nervous. But maybe it taught her to pay more attention. I just wish the price of that lesson didn't include the title to my paid for vehicle...

Ugh yeah that is a rough spot to be in. I was telling my son he should probably just lease a car, it's cheaper than trying to buy anything now, and just wait until the prices go down, because they eventually will. He has a paid off subaru, but he bought it salvaged from the auction and fixed it up. Guess he could do that with a truck, but he did it down in CA and had his uncle help him - and he doesn't have the resources here in WA to do that.
Used trucks here are ridiculous too, a bit cheaper if you cross into Idaho, but still ridiculous.

Yup, they are ridiculous. I see 15 to 20 year old trucks posted around here with 200,000 on them and people are asking 12 to 15 thousand.

I understand..I'm glad she us ok though..n I'm sure it will have a impact on her, so maybe it's kinda good. Kinda...
Used vehicles are pretty pricy but the bubble has supposed to have popped. Hopefully by spring the prices will be down. Maybe you can get something just to get you by until then..??

The bubble hasn't popped here. New vehicles are impossible to get now, worse than ever before. I'm hearing it's going to be spring of 2024 before it starts to shake out...

Ok, 79°, sunny, out of the pool, got chilly??? On a critter happy high, and a sick brother low! Did get a lot done at home today! Think there are some Bud Lights calling me! Yep, I hear them! Will need a few before I call the sister in law. I did live through talking to the mother in law earlier, with no alcohol involved, imagine that?! But the main thing, ALL the animals are happy! Then so am I! Brother update soon!!

WOW, first 15,000 can come have my 1999 Z71 with 450,000 miles!

I have seen some that old, not quite that many miles, but a couple were high 200 thousands and they were asking 7 to 8 thousand.

Whether they are selling or not, I don't know.

I've decided not to cut my beard or trim my hair anymore, I will continue to bathe however. I'm pretty sure I'll be headed back to the creek as soon as I can get another generator and rent some solar cells. All I've got done for the last week is answer phone calls and deal with other people's problems for them and I don't even have a damned cell phone!

Saw a 3/4 ton Chevy Diesel with 291k on it for $7500 near here the other day. It did come with a snow blade, but still...

We went through this when our son's SUV had a blown engine this summer. Ended up with a 2004 Buick Park Ave. with relatively low miles ( 78000) for $10k. Some old guy died and the dealer picked it up at an estate sale . That was the best vehicle available. Son is driving 70 miles each day to get to college and back so we couldn't wait for something better

Good luck finding something.

Another day another problem....woke up this morning and couldn't hardly move my shoulder it hurt so bad. I think I shouldn't have rolled out that hay bale or something. Did very little today because of it.
Our winter rye is growing in one garden we still have to do the other one.
Sitting here drinking apple soju ( it's really good, but hard to find, got it at the Asian grocery a few days ago)
Daughter tells me I should life weights to prevent such injuries....I told her I am OLD, past menopause and nothing can be done about it . She pointed out some 70 year old woman climbed a big mountain. Can't do that anymore either. Oh well
Son and husband moved all my plants inside I thankfully put in pots yesterday before the should issue. It is supposed to freeze tonight. VERY early in the year to freeze

My brain is not wanting to cooperate to remember who said what.
Sorry to hear about vehicles being wrecked but glad the girl was ok.
Pearl, I hope your brother will be OK (I can remember some from this page).
Sonya, that sounds awful. I hope your shoulder gets feeling better.
I'm tired. Yesterday was my birthday but there was no celebration. Mom didn't remember until later in the evening. Brother didn't remember at all. My sister actually remembered this time though. I met with my friend to fill his car up with gas before prices go up more. Grabbed McDonalds and went home. Cooked for Mom and went to bed. Got woken up for my sister's phonecall. Then my stomach didn't like me and felt like it was in knots. Slept for awhile and then woke up this morning. Yesterday and today I attempted to remove stains from my floor again. No joy.
Today I managed to get my speakers & desk tray adhered to the desk (put doublesided sticky tape on the velcro adhesive side where it detached). Hopefully that will stay. I'm staying hydrated and browsing the internet but will probably take a nap soon. Still feeling tired.
