@Peanut sorry you got sick and I hope you're doing better now. I'm glad you made it home safely.

@sonya123 Sorry you had a miserable day. Weather like that can really bring you down. Bananas go fast here as well. Chinese dumplings sound good.

@Tommyice that is a very neat knit pattern. I like it.

@joel is that an industrial/commercial sink? Ok, I see it has sink basins. That is very cool. Going somewhere in the house or in a workshop?

@Grimm I hope your other does will take this time. Bunnies are so adorable. I actually had a dream about bunnies last night. I was petting them and trying to find a safe place to put them where the dogs couldn't get them.

I fed the cats and slept today. Just needed some rest after yesterday. Tracked the package to my sister. It's in TN so it should make it to my sister's house in NM by Friday. Our microwave is supposed to arrive tomorrow. A tool I ordered should also be arriving then. I really need to organize my tools. I need to take the trash out again but my left rotator cuff, deltoid and bicep are not feeling good. The cats are piled on wanting me to stay still for now.

Take care of you arm!! The kitties are trying to take care of you!;♥️

Exhausted today after over doing it the last two, a classic cfs hangover, brain fog is bad and my bones ache. 10hrs of sleep last night helped a little. I managed to make a big skillet of hashbrowns at lunch, got left overs for tomorrow. That was the limit of my exertions today.

My virus is still hanging around, little fever this afternoon but took a nice nap, helped. No plans but a little tv tonight. Still taking tinctures.

More from my trip for sup42, places he’ll recognize. The Natural Bridge 1-mile sign on hwy 278 and the thriving metropolis of Double Springs. They have two working traffic lights now!

Funny, on the way back from TN I stopped at this very chevron station in Double Springs. I get out of my car and every cop in town showed up, both of them. 🤣

Couple of teenagers had a fist fight behind the station. It meant I could drive any speed for the next few miles. On an arrow straight road with big hills. I drove very fast.

Oh, a bit of good news. After 10 years I discovered the best time of year to find crossvine is now. Crossvine is semi-evergreen. I’ve always looked for it in early spring, difficult to see but far better than in summer when it’s impossible to find.

I was driving monday. The road dipped down into a big hollar. On both sides of the road I could see dozens of vines. They really stood out. Where I live there isn’t much crossvine. This hollar is only 25 miles from me… in the words of Arnold “I’ll be back!”. There’s plenty of crossvine north of me but I rarely see it here. Now I’ve found a place within easy driving distance to harvest all I want. And now I know when to look for it! :)

Here ya go @Supervisor42

Been thru there dozens of times (actually more, but not hundreds).
Thanks for the trip down memory-lane!

Long day here with two trips to the vet's office, but I managed to knock out some other stuff as well... I put that jalapeno bush into a nursery pot I bought at the Depot this morning, so it's sitting in the 'mud room' right now, I hope it survives the winter but I'm not expecting too much, since the last two nights have been freezing and even with the plastic cover the plant has taken a beating. Should be a hard freeze tonight as well, but the fruit trees & blackberry vine are already covered.

Much as I'd like to ride the bike tomorrow, I'm gonna stay home and keep an eye on the kittens who just had surgery, it's the responsible course of action... but I can still PAR-TAY, lol. I finally received that replacement cord for my hair clippers today, so I'll probably wire that up tomorrow. Maybe I'll clean the bike if it's warmer than the 51* F in the forecast, lol... get some pics for Magus from all angles. We'll see manana, I ain't doing it if the weather sucks, lol.

I'll tell ya, it was chilly today, I broke out the brand-new REI fleece jacket I bought in AZ before I bailed, that thing is nice & warm, lol. I bought a bunch of kick@$$ winter clothing before my relocation to this state, as I didn't know whether I'd be able to find stuff here and I also had money to burn. I bought my riding suit and a bunch of bike accessories at the same time, since I was flush from the sale of my Benson home. So I'm rigged for Old Man Winter, that's for sure! ;)

Right now, I'm finishing a load of laundry and having a cold beer at the dining room table, where I usually put my laptop computer. Not really hungry yet, but I have all kinds of choice leftovers in the fridge. I have some 'Pit Boss' Angus burgers too with BBQ sauce & bacon, I think, but I'll probably save those for the grill tomorrow in case it actually turns out to be a fine sunny day. It was pretty cloudy today, but the NOAA Weather forecast is calling for sunshine tomorrow.

P.S. I just checked the fridge as I grabbed another cold beer, and those are 'Pit Boss' Angus Beef Brisket Patties with bacon and BBQ rub, lol... I picked 'em up on sale at Albertson's last time I was there, and they sound like they'd be good on the grill tomorrow if the weather cooperates. I've been meaning to put the BBQ back up on the porch for the time being, now that the plywood deck of the porch has been treated. That porch project probably won't be finished till early next year. 😒

Our bunnies are food. Cute as they are. Our dogs are curious about the babies but not enough to go after them. If I let one of our adults run around the house they chase the cats and dogs. It is kind of funny watching prey chase predator.

@joel is that an industrial/commercial sink? Ok, I see it has sink basins. That is very cool. Going somewhere in the house or in a workshop?

Yes, I wanted the small one, with one sink, but beggar can not be choicer.
I am told that it is the smallest sink a restaurant can use according to DEHC here in S.C.
But we are going to use it in an out side kitchen.

Has anyone else done house sharing? We rent out a private apt in our lower level once in a while.
We rent cheap for the area and usually look for a older college or trade school student that also works.
Kind of nice for the extra money and also another car in the driveway to look like someone is home.
This time I am looking for a person with some of the same interests we have.
Here is part of the add.....

Cat OK on approval. Looking for someone who likes chickens and fresh eggs and fresh garden vegies in the summer. Also what goes with having fresh eggs and vegies, such as helping taking care of the chickens and garden.
Off street parking in quiet neighborhood, all expenses included in rent including internet, heat and power.
Looking for someone who sees the coming hard times and wants to become more self sufficient while still going to school or working presently.

So now there is snow on the ground....there wasn't any forecast and there was none on the radar and still isn't yet we have about 1\4 inch on the ground. I hope son can get to school ok but the main roads are probably clear I hope.

I sure hope the roads are ok Saturday , big goat buck NEEDS to go to the auction.....
We can't pull the trailer down the mountain or back up in snow.

My dumplings turned out really good, I made about 60 of them and froze some. Once I got the hang of it it wasn't that hard folding them. Took a photo but need to download it

Debating on what to do today, leave the animals in , or put them out. Sheep are definitely going out but not sure on the goats. They do have small shelters in the pasture but not sure they will go in. Sometimes they just stand in front of the gate looking sad waiting for us to let them back in the barn

I think we're going to be warmer today in a few hours. It'll be nice to not have frozen animal water, and our dogs are tired of being kenneled and just walked. Tomorrow, though, is supposed to be really cold, we'll see. Going to take the girls to school real soon. Husband has to take grandson into the bigger town for a drug/alcohol assessment, which I'm sure he will lie on. Won't do much good if he says he's not using, because I know he does. I've got lots of cleaning to do today, company coming in tomorrow evening. Lunchtime today will be the Thanksgiving meal at little granddaughter's school. I signed up husband to come, too, but he's stuck doing grandson's thing, so I'll go by myself. Little Brenda is hoping to be released today from the hospital, we'll see. Husband talked to her dad yesterday, and he may either need a ride to bring them all home, or just a ride to bring him back. Hoping she's well enough to drive home. About 45 minutes away.

Gorgeous day, but cold right now... ice in the birdbaths again, I've taken to pouring hot water in each bath to start clearing the ice so the wild birds can get some water. I'm very tempted to go riding today, as the two kittens who had spay surgery seem fine! And even though I hafta return one small cat carrier which I borrowed from Kitty City yesterday, I could strap it onto the bike rack and drop it off on my way to do the loop to the lake... it would be on the way. I dunno, I'm still grappling with the idea, lol. Kicking back here and BBQing those 'Pit Boss' Angus Beef Brisket Patties sounds like a good plan too, and I wouldn't freeze any anatomical parts off by riding the bike at 75 m.p.h. (legal limit on some roads here). I have the riding suit, but sometimes my gloves feel a little thin and the cold air that enters the helmet makes my eyes water, goggles or no goggles... but I have one of those 'neck gaiters' too, that might cut down on the cold air. We'll see, I'm just gonna enjoy my cuppa hot tea for now, with Z-Girl & Black Diamond lying quietly on the table next to me. I let 'em out earlier, but it's cold enough that they both came back inside after a few minutes.

The poor girl I take to the amish school now has a cough, and is staying with grandma. Hope it's not RSV from her sis. Animals done, rabbit cages cleaned, dogs taken care of... husband took grandson to the acohol drug assessment required by the state (after his incidents), and he just texted me and said my cousin's wife Kay works there. Didn't know that, and I'm sure grandson is not thrilled. I'll be seeing those cousins at mom's 90th bday party on Saturday. Off to get cleaned up and out of my chore clothes and heading to the grade school for the Thanksgiving luncheon and program

Trying to catch up on the thread here.

Finished a long work stretch on Tuesday. People are just getting more sicker and we are totally overcrowded. Our children's hospital is overrun with RSV and we are seeing even adults getting in and ending up hospitalized (which was basically unheard of before).
Yesterday we got our washer/dryer delivered. Put that in the pump house, had the little portable propane heater going. Left to get some parts and came back and the pump house almost burned down from the heater. The face of my new washer was melted, barn paint can melted, 2 of our solar inverters destroyed and a bunch of tools. We now have a barn red floor. I am SO THANKFUL our well pump is fine and the thing didn't burn down. My husband apparently left it on a higher heat than usual. I think things were just going too well. Went to a work dinner/education in town in the evening to learn more about devices to use in heart failure.

For those who don't want a colonoscopy, the FIT test is a great alternative and is very effective at catching cancer
https://hhma.org/blog/not-willing-to-get-a-colonoscopy-2-other-ways-to-catch-colon-cancer-2/
Today, i'm cleaning and paying bills. It's nice and sunny outside. Hubs is in cleaning up the pump house mess. Probably just going to stay around here today and relax. Maybe read a book for a bit. Yesterday was eventful enough!

It is cold today so The Princess quipped "At least tou will not be sweating as tou work."

Hah!

I dug 4 chestnut trees and 2 paw paw trees today to transplant to The Ridge next month.

20221117_141510_HDR.jpg

I butchered the smaller paw paw basically ripping it from its roots. Bummer. The larger paw paw required a bit of effort to get a good bit of the root cluster. In the end I had to saws all the roots to get it free.

So much for not sweating.

Now I am defrosting and getting ready to order onions seeds I used up yesterday. Those were packaged for 2020 and 2017. Hope they germinate.

A few days ago I bought a couple heavy duty storage shelves for the shop. Got them put together and started organizing my stuff. Of course the wife staked out a shelf for her canned foods.
Tuesday night the grandson got sick and had breathing problems. The wife took him to the clinic. They aren't sure what was wrong. They gave him a shot in the butt and sent him home with a nebulizer. Said if he gets any worse to take him to the emergency room. He seems to be a little better today.

Hope he feels better, it's probably RSV, that is about 90% of everything going around right now.
I'm trying to get my husband to get some shelves up in the pump house so I can stack the laundry stuff. So much to do.

Didn't ride after all, despite the gorgeous weather... instead, I chose the "responsible adult" route and knocked out some chores while keeping an eye on the kittens. Washed both the car & the bike, now my vehicles are clean! Spent a little more time on the cycle, checking equipment & fluids, detailing the bike, adding chain lube, etc., so it's good to go for my next ride. Since we have some freezing nights ahead (28 tonight), I wheeled the bike back into its shed and covered it with my nice 'Bilt' brand cover for maximum protection. You'll never know how powerful the temptation was to ride that bike today, but I gotta keep the health of the kittens in mind, especially following surgery, and there will be other fine days sometime in the future, lol. Knocked out some other chores, now it's 'beer-thirty' and I'm gonna BBQ those brisket patties tonight, I uncovered the BBQ and it's ready to go, but I'm not hungry yet since I had a nice big breakfast with fried eggs & sliced Jalapenos on thick ham slices, everything covered with country gravy, a big chunk of Jalapeno Cornbread on the side with butter & maple syrup, lol. I'm glad I ate the big breakfast too, I wound up spending hours outdoors on this fine day, moving around and getting things done, 10-4? Dang, that first beer went down fast, better grab another and chillax, lol... central heating is on and our home feels good! Cats & kittens are all hanging out with me! "WUNDERBAR!!!"

P.S. In another hour or two, I'll be outdoors with my REI fleece jacket and Petzl headlamp, BBQing in the dark, lol... I'm almost tempted to have a campfire outdoors, but I've been on my feet for much of the day, so the big screen TV will probably win out, lol. I feel like some entertainment here pronto, as soon as I post up these bike pics I took for Magus. This ol' monster thumper is really kind of a funky bike, but it's fun to ride once you realize its limitations, lol. It has mondo power for the dirt too, I fishtail around and occasionally get sideways, BWAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!! Reminds me of this time when a fellow soldier and I were partying on Fort Lewis, out on the backcountry roads & tank trails... this little guy Spurlock was driving, and he was gettin' my Oldsmobile Ninety-Eight with Rocket 455 motor totally sideways while fishtailing back & forth on a dirt tank trail, lol. I was riding shotgun, beer in hand, LMAO, it was so funny... that little guy sure could drive that big ol' tank of an Olds, lol. I'd let friends drive it, you understand, and there were times when half a dozen of us would climb into that rig and head for the beach, or head for Mt. Rainier to go mess around. Always in party mode, even when hiking up Rainier, lol. We were young then, totally fit, and we could handle a lot of abuse, lol. We'd even take coolers of beer out to the rappel tower in the boondocks, and burn fatties afterward, lol...

A part of my day…

It was late and dark. Parking lot had no lighting. Strip mall store fronts were all dark except the lonely Subway at the end. My stomach was growling so why not I thought.

As I walked in I notice a young couple sitting in the booth close to the door. The male gave me a look between shocked and discuss. It’s a liberal area so I guess it was my camo “Duck Dynasty” baseball cap?

Placed my order for a 6” sandwich. The two employees were chatty and polite.

For grins and giggles I sat behind the young couple. He had a long lanyard hanging out his back pocket. The lanyard type is what the kids use for their car fobs and keys. Lanyard had a liberal college name embroidered on it. She was wearing an engagement ring. Good for them.

Pear shape woman who walked like her feet were causing her pain came and ordered to go. Soon after she left a gruff looking man entered looking like he was on a mission. He didn’t glance at me nor at the young couple. He got his order and I watched him walk straight to his vehicle and leave.

The young couple left soon after. Wondered how the young couple would feel if they knew they had picked an establishment that was a soft target for Robby and a armed old man was sitting behind them ready to defend them and the employees?

They wouldn't care. If someone came in and pulled a gun, and you did what you had to do, they would have blamed you...
