My dad passed away early this morning. In reality we lost him some months ago when the dementia changed him so far that we couldn't communicate anymore and he no longer knew who we were. And at 87 and it being expected as he declined so rapidly after his stroke, it wasn't the bitter severance and horror that it has been for me losing my Husband at 59, but it's still sad.
I've spent most of the day sitting in my chair doing jigsaw puzzles and watching old football games on youtube. Then for some reason I got up and made meatloaf and potatoes that I don't feel like eating. Guess I'm set for leftovers for the next week.

Yep, Jake looks good in the glasses.
Urban, that's scary with how fragile your wife's health is and the lack of help when it's needed. We had a little bit of that when my Husband had a PIC line and I had to give him antibiotics every day. One day something went wrong with the line and we couldn't get an answer from anyone. Thankfully my Pastor's wife is a nurse and she was willing to step in and help us out. Like you, got a call back from the visiting nurse well after the crisis was over...
Wingnut I've been thinking about adopting a kitty, but the whole horking on the carpet thing gives me pause. I used to have two cats and had mostly forgotten the whole getting out of bed and stepping in a pile of cat yak in the dark.
Spike, I have nothing but time to myself and it's depressing. Enjoy it in moderation, some alone time is good but when it's all you have it gets old.

And....little granddaughter is the winner! She asked what the note on the fridge was where the numbers are crossed off. 205 days. I could of guessed it'd be her.
So grandson did not have work tonight, was home with me alone, and was asking about when our company was coming. I haven't spoken to him since the alcohol poisoning incident a week and a half ago. So I told him when the company was coming. Then asked him if he knew why I won't talk to him or his sis anymore. Told him I'd probably figure it out if my grandma wouldn't talk to me anymore. Then I listed every rotten thing those two have done starting with the bogus call to the police saying that we were abusing them. And ended with now, and the two other times the police had to come out in the last few month. And then said that that's why I'm not talking to you again. So he went out with a friend for their family dinner, and turned down the invite to the dinner we went to, but I'm glad he didn't go with us.

He can't just think he can be nice and things will lighten up!! Good for you Amish!!

Sorry for all the pain @Heartbroken @Amish Heart My mom also has dementia, 86...

No more virus today, no chills or unusual aches. My head is a bit clearer, a step in the right direction. Actually felt decent but still exhausted from my trip, expected. I counted on a week to 10 days to recover. The usual when life requires me to over do it.

Didn't want to go but needed a few things from the grocery store. Stopped at 2 stores and filled up with gas as I left town, always do that now.

I am very to hear of your loss @Heartbroken.
I fear dementia more than any other medical issues.
I agree. I suspect, and hope, if it ever happens to me it will be gradual enough that I will understand what is happening and I will take my last "camping" trip to the top of a tall mountain and drink a bottle or two and fall asleep in the cold and solve the problem.
Both my parents were good until the end, and my grandmother was rock solid until she passed at 96, so I am hoping it is not in my genes but you never know. I told everyone I know if I ever get the "bad news" about anything I will stick it out until I know I need to go camping in the cold. Fall asleep and let hypothermia settle the problem.
Almost 18 years as a cop and saw many a self inflicted solution to a life ending problem. One day at such a situation the well seasoned Detective mentioned how a "good" doctor should stress to such a patient that they should "not" take too much of this one medicine or it could be fatal. If any of us was at such a point a simple way out is much easier for all than a "sudden" way out. To quote Kenny Rodgers song The Gambler....."The best that you can hope for is to die in your sleep."

For me, to quote the great Detroit 101.1 "The WRIF" DJ Arthur Penhallow who howled on Friday afternoon, "It's the weekend!!!". I am home from work, showered, properly "relaxed" and ready for bed. For the rest of you, Good Morning.

Heartbroken, sorry for your loss . Dementia is scary but I think my relatives all died before they got it. My dad is 82 and mentally perfectly fine at this point.

I had another @##$#$!!! tick on me last night, on my back again. I didn't even take the dogs for a walk in the woods for a few days so I have no idea where it came from. This one was tiny and must have just bit me, I felt it tickle on my back that's how I noticed. So now I am not sure if I should take the rest of the antibiotics I have left or not. No big red circle like the other one but then maybe it takes a few days. Another day another new problem....
Husband woke up with a sore throat but we have to take some animals to the auction. I gave him some zinc and eccinacea pills and told him to suck it up until the animals are loaded at least. I can't do it by myself. I guess son needs to help, it is Saturday so no classes today

0644 hours, and I'm on the bus, on the way out to the job site. It's 19 degrees so we had our morning briefing on the bus. The boss laid out some changes that will happen next year and it doesn't sound good. The company is cutting about 25% of the tie gang jobs. It's not known if they're adding manpower elsewhere yet. I'm guessing the total cuts will amount to about 100 jobs...

I brought home leftover dressing, sweet potatoes, corn casserole and pumpkin dessert from our senior club at Church. I have cooked sliced turkey in the freezer. I will open a can of cranberry sauce. LOL This will be the easiest Thanksgiving ever! It's just DH and I.

I saw a meme that was funny to me.

"My family asked what I was planning for Thanksgiving. Apparently, "having 4 margaritas before you get here" was not what they wanted to hear. Hah!

You all have a great weekend!

Rub down with 100% rubbing alcohol and use drier sheets, you no longer smell like food. I haven't been bit by anything in ages but a curious roach.
apparently I'm toxic.

Easy morning, no big hurry to do anything since it's still cold outside... I did pull my usual routine of feeding the cats & cleaning their litter boxes, feeding the wild birds & dumping hot water into the frozen birdbaths, etc. I'm about to eat some good leftovers for breakfast, I had half a mini-watermelon earlier and it was tasty, but I now need something solid, lol. I never did splice that replacement cord for the hair clippers, so that's high on the priority list, even though I won't need the clippers for another fortnight, maybe 3 weeks. Black Diamond is much better, she's running around outside with Z-Girl! Boy, I'll tell ya, this cold snap has really brought the wild birds to the feeders & baths, all kinds of birds too... with everything frozen at dawn, I reckon they have a hard time finding food & water, so my efforts are actually appreciated, lol. I don't mind, as the cats & I like watching the birds outside our windows! Like 'Cat TV' for the kitties! :)

Once I get that cord spliced, I may do a little housecleaning and then take the rest of the weekend off, lol... watch a movie or finish reading DESPERATION TRAIL, by L.L. Foreman, I made it about halfway through that book last night and it's pretty good. I don't have to go anywhere this weekend, so I'm staying put here at the ol' hacienda, got plenty of good food & cold beer in the fridge! Five cats to keep me company, and some friends to call later, since this is the holiday season. Meh, life could be worse... I'm hoping to ride the bike next week sometime, once this stupid cold snap ends, it'd be cool to visit Elephant Butte Lake & Caballo Lake before Thanksgiving Day, but I'm not sure if the weather will comply. I'm not gonna waste fuel riding on a cr@ppy cold & cloudy day... not worth it, lol. But if some sunshine makes it into the forecast, then I'm good to go! We have sunshine this morning, but it's pale & watery, aye?

Almost got the rest of my preps in. still need spring water and dry goods
and a hundred pounds of meow chow and the occasional coke, but if I stopped right now, the only thing I'll need is meat, bread and cigarettes. Never felt so good being broke and sore unless it was with that stripper in Atlanta way back when. LOL

Urbanhunter, that sounds so frustrating dealing with those IV issues with your wife and must be very upsetting for her. I hope she will recover soon.

Heartbroken, I'm so very sorry. Losing a parent is never easy. Dealing with dementia prior to that is very tough as well. Feeling you lost them before they are clinically dead is awful.

Today I went to the store to get cat food and cow feed. Fed the cats and cows. Cooked for Mom, and am resting now. Ran into my friend in the store and crept up on him then pretended to be a T-Rex when he noticed me. Tried to get cow feed out before cow could come over-- looked around and didn't see her. STarted cutting the bag open and she seemingly materialized out of nowhere. Came barreling around the truck. I had to dodge her horns bc she wanted that feed bag. LOL.

I'm making yellow rice and I think its time to go fluff it. Just need to convince the cats to get off of me first.

I got a sudden burst of energy last night, about 11pm. I had to use it so I started washing dishes. Washed and dried 2 trays before I went to bed.

Had energy again today. Washed 3 more trays of dirty dishes. None left to wash but what I used cooking supper. I also got 5 loads of laundry washed and put away (last one still in dryer).

Played music this afternoon in between loads of laundry. Still lovin’ the sound since I had the work done on my guitar. Actually I’m having to learn to play it over again. I had major work done, every string was moved, some just a few thousandths, but that's enough to change how it plays. Changes I’ll gladly endure, it plays so much easier and sounds incredible. Before my guitar would have been considered a Cadillac. Now it’s a corvette with an engine package from Roush racing. Everything about it was improved, even the clarity of notes I play. This is why I spent $470 and drove to another state… Richard Starkey is an artist. He’s the only guy I’ll let work one my guitar now.

Long day and now I’m exhausted again, no more chores will get done. Probably play a few songs later though. ;)

Ok, I'm NOT coming to your house to clean!! You come to Texas and clean mine!;😃💖 Glad you are up and going!!

Worked. Drove to work in the "storm of the Century" ?

My golly are people actually this stupid? Supposed to get 4 to 6 feet of snow. Moron "governor" has shut down all commercial traffic on the interstates, schools closed, as the snow-pacolypse is upon us.

Back in the day 300 inches plus was a typical average. Not so much anymore. Barfallo has no idea what real snow is but they whine since they have to move it. Wind, yeah, out here it's actually something.

Lived in snow country all my life. This is nothing. I will see if I stand corrected tomorrow but I doubt it. I'll go to work anyways on time as usual.

Tinkered off a suspected liberal today. Not intentionally. Mentioned what an idiot our current "governor" is and asked what type of fools would vote this trash into office. Seems I identified one anyway. 🤣

Oh well. Guess I will go shovel my 4 inches of snow and await the stupid. Personally I wish the "commercial traffic" would take a month or 3 off. Let these fools reap what they sow and get hungry for a few months.
So... Nothing is any different here due to the snow. Seems my youngest has gotten a couple unpaid days off from work due to the storm. He and the granddaughter are south of the barfalow but got around 5 feet of snow. Very narrow band it seems. He was told to stay home. I laughed at him and told him I expected better as I know he was taught better.

All good though. Sometimes "lake-effect" happens here. Far from the fun in 77' though. So, while the target was incorrect the snow-pocolypse was now for them. Son was ready. granddaughter was not. Now they understand why we do what we do here. ;) Yep I was wrong on the location so that one is on me...
