First, (and I say that for a reason) the central heat/air unit has died and since we have water, I washed dog blankets. Apparently, the drainage pipe going from washer is frozen and the floor flooded. So, the floor is nice and clean now. That was 2. Waiting on #3. Kinda thinking the electric will go out, but hoping it will be something smaller. Sigh.
Merry Christmas anyway, since it has nothing to do with my little drama!

I just did one load of laundry, watched it drain in fear of a frozen drain, I was lucky!! Hopefully you only have a Christmas "two for" special and #3 never happens!

A quiet day, took a few pictures with mom and dad. Fed and watered all the critters. I have two empty buckets with gamma seal lids just for the critters, no spilled water... I filled them in my shower, out to the garden cart then haul them to the corral. Have the bull up in the corral right now, his water is a chore. He'll drink 10 gallons in a blink.

I have the chicken waterer in my shower now. Filled with hot water, it's thawing slowly. I poured water for the chickens in a spare dog bowl.

Supposed to 40 degrees tomorrow but 20 tomorrow night. Critter water will still be a pain til about Wednesday.

Family get together tomorrow afternoon sometime, we'll see.

We spent Christmas Eve at my parents home.

The 9 hour drive turned into a 12 hour drive. Most of it wasn't too bad, just had to take it a easy a bit and there were only a few intermittent cars on the road.

Then it started snowing, 10 inches worth and no plows out. OK, it then warmed up and started a light rain on the snow. Still no plows or sand. The last 3 hours were on straight ice going 15 mph. That was exhausting.

The girls opened presents and we played Dirty Santa. I ended up with a motion activated toilet nightlight and some sudoku 3-ply toilet paper. 🤪

Had waffles for brunch and ham for dinner. Had a glass of white wine and felt like the room was on fire. I don't drink but when I do I never feel like this. My dad kept telling me I was lit. To be honest I just think it was a hot flash.

Gave the rabbits their hay wreaths and took pictures of the new babies.

Glad you made it safely!!

@hashbrown what a lovely family you have--you are blessed. And that prime rib and greenbeans look to die for. Hmmm haven't had creme brulee in forever.

Had a fantastic day with my cousins. There were 18 of us there. The group photo was hard to take but we got it done. There's only 3 left from our parents generation left and two of them had married into the family (yup, that makes them the outlaws). Over all, there were four generations there. I didn't want to leave.

I'll be working today.

Made it through Christmas without major disasters. Made a ham and a turkey and its both almost gone ( our boys here ate a lot) , did tons of dishes up to the ceiling and took more hot water buckets. Let the animals out of the barn yesterday afternoon for a little while when it stopped being windy , the sun was out and it warmed up to 18. Cleaned a little but the poop was mostly frozen

Daughter and her husband leaving today, he has to go back to work tomorrow. I will miss them but it will also be less work. We did have a nice time, opened presents yesterday and played board games. Anyone every heard of the game Ra? It's an Egyptian game.

Peanut, our big chicken waterer froze to the block it sits on which froze to the floor in the chicken coop, so we are using a smaller one and refilling often.

Grimm lol those little bunnies look like rats....hope they stay warm

Breaking in my new boots. I got my first REAL pair of western boots. I am loving them. They are so comfy and warm with my wool boot socks. I have worn boots of all kinds through out my life from Doc Martens 20 holes to fetish leather pointe boots with spike heels. I have never had boots that just feel good on my feet like these do! They are warmer than my snow boots too! Got some compliments at the feed store this morning.

When I got them the girls thought they had to tell K before I could like I did something wrong by getting myself new boots. I guess they aren't use to me spending money on myself. To be honest I felt I was worth some high quality boots. K gets new boots every year and a new pair of sneakers/leisure shoes. I wait until my shoes fall apart and the girls get new shoes every time they outgrow theirs.

Now I am looking for a second pair just because.
;)

Just had my daughter's birthday dinner and earlier walked over to visit a neighbour. She has two new kittens and her grown-up son got a gorgeous golden lab puppy. 'He's so cute' I say to my husband. 'You won't be saying that in a few months when he's over terrorising the hens. He's right! Anyhow about to watch the 2nd Lord of the Rings and have dessert, then have some friends calling round. tomorrow off to a nearby town to meet up with a woman from college- only met her once before in three years, and hoping it doesn't freeze tonight. Oh, and washed the car!

The weather service has lowered the expected snow amount to 4 or 5 inches, but they lowered the expected Temps as well. Now the forecast looks like this:
View attachment 101063
Wind chills are expected to bottom out at -40°. I'm breaking out the serious winter gear for this one...
You know you could have, should have kept that to yourself.

I hope everyone had a blessed Christmas.
I also hope everyone stays warm.
I received news Christmas eve that Baby Reign will be a "BIG" Sister come late May early June.
This new baby is a Girl too.
Estelle will become a "Big" Sister late April, early May.
This new baby is a Boy.
So now I will have 6 grand children by Christmas next year.
4 girls, 2 boys.
I will be start planning out Christmas gifts the second week of January this next year.
It's been so bitter cold here, my little Fiat didn't start for several days.
I have to go back to work on Wednesday. Bummer.
Grand children got cookbooks age approix for Christmas.
The 2 year old Baby Reign and 5 year old Estelle already know some of the basics cooking.
Because they cook with me.
But the bonus grand children age 6 and 10 do not know anything about cooking.
Along with child size cooking untinsels, 4 ounce cannisters set for their play kitchen.
When filling their mason jar cannisters I took 2 to 4 ounces of rice, macaroni, navy beans, lentils out of my stores.
And no I am not wearing my glasses right now.

Congratulations!!
Thank you, Pearl.
My side of the family is hoping this baby's name will be "Coffee" Ann Creamer.
I would be overjoyed if the baby's name was Catherine Ann .
And I could just nick name her "Coffee" Ann Creamer.
And yes I have a warp sense of humor.
