Today was a couple hours at the cat shelter being a cat cleaner, then we had Christmas present opening. Later today will be Christmas dinner. I probably won't grill the Ham steaks, the grill is still buried under snow :(. Some computer gaming and reading my book, hoping a cat will leave one of the comfy chairs so I can sit in it (Chair, not the cat) :p.

So it's Tuesday morning and everyone must still be in a turkey-coma. Roads are deadsville. It was a nice Christmas. Surprised Hubby by having his twin bro. and family join us 😊 so that was fun. Woke Christmas morning to a clogged sink. Our house has "presence of past souls" so things like this don't surprise us. I contacted property mgt. but wasn't going to have someone come out Christmas morning. Hubby crawled under the house with the snake. Whoever plumbed the kitchen was a moron! They ran the drain pipe on the level 🙄 Hubby said he was glad it was that because he really thought it might be haunted. I said, well it is haunted, but they didn't do it 🤣
Then last night a windstorm (chinook) blew through, melted all our snow but also blew shingles off the house and summer kitchen and the summer kitchen is drenched so I have another chore when I get home.
So those are some of the joys of renting 😣
Yesterday, I got the tree out and have been deep cleaning, vacuuming under furniture, washing baseboards and window sills and going through things. Got the living room and dining room done, began in the kitchen and office area and did a couple things in the spare room. The bedrooms will be next! I already have a box to go to donation. Giving the house a clean sweep for the new year. It feels clean and uncluttered.

Needing to plant a new mailbox post. This morning I went online to request a underground utilities locate. I specified “INSTALLING MAILBOX POST”.

This afternoon I’ve got flags and ground paint all over the front of my property. I’m rather impressed with the quick response and time they took. Unfortunately they didn't locate the buried cable where my mailbox is that has my clearly legible road number stenciled on both sides.

Took my daughter shopping this morning. We were looking for the shoes she likes. I couldn't find them before Christmas day, and even the outlet store didn't have them in stock, but we could order them. They'll be delivered in a week.

After that we ate at her favorite burger joint, called B-Bop's, and went to Bass Pro Shops to kill a little time before I dropped her off with her mom. Now I'm in the waiting room at the dentists office to get a broken molar capped. Merry Christmas to me...

Got my new satellite modem set up and running. It has internal wifi so I dismantled my existing wifi setup. Still need to set up my laptop and phones for access. Also, need to redo the cabling. Already pulled out all the unused cables but need to create a new serviceable cable run for the all the currently used gear.

Watching some of today's bowl games while I work.

Sitting in a motel room. Left son's place early to catch a weather window for travel. The hotel is in the little town where I went to high school.

We get into the room and the heat is off and the sliding doors are open. It's 17° F in here. Welcome to a warm streak in Podunk Canada.

T-shirt weather! Shorts & flip-flops too! Worst-case scenario, burning the motel down will keep ya warm, at least for a little while, like a bonfire on the beach, lol... ;)

Had to go into 'recovery mode' after my town run, funny how that happens... but it's gonna rain tomorrow so I'll get to work on my 'Road Safety' thread after all.

Yeah for warmer! Have normal housework and animal chores, and I'll go fill a cart at Aldi today. Hopefully they are better stocked than Walmart was late yesterday. I took my neighbor there, after her daughter's recheck appt with the doc, and was surprised (not really) about the lack of dairy, produce, and bread

It's not as bad as it looked when it was spraying all over the place last night, it pretty much drained out. odd thing I'm noticing, with one exception the Pex held, but the fittings exploded. I can't do anything about any of it until the 3rd anyway, and very little then. I'll be paying off my outstanding debts and shutting down unnecessary things like the internet and probably car insurance until it gets fixed or more likely replaced. Pity, I liked that hunk of junk, even if it was hell to work on.
I have found that on my drip irrigation system too, the tubing holds up fine, but if ice forms in the elbows and valves they will split. Every year I have to pressurize my system to make a list of the fittings I need to replace. If I can drain the system completely before the freezing starts I am fine, but 1 closed valve will let me know I screwed up....

I truly hope you are able to get your plumbing all fixed and your vehicle back to motor-vating quickly as we move into the new year!

I am off for the rest to the year, I have lots of end of year chores to do and I am trying to catch up as fast as I can, it's still hunting season (muzzle loader) and I would like to get out. However, the wife know's I'm off and she has a list for me too.. ;)

Day three with Friday. She is a cuddler. She wants to nap in my lap but then so do the old bitties. Right now I am focusing on housebreaking her, sit and her name. Once those are in place I can work on more advanced training. I might get her a little service dog training vest and take her with us when we have to go out. I want her desensitized to everything I can to help with her hunting. So far she doesn't bark. Never had a Brittany this quiet before.

Started the 365 day declutter early. With the move coming in November I figure I can get it all done if I start now. I am working in the tiny utility room on cleaning supplies and pet stuff. Glad I hung on to some of the stuff for the new puppy but I tossed a lot of crap too.

Lost the runt from our 4 day old litter of kits. It happens. I tried to warm it to make sure. I followed the warm and dead rule. The rest of the litter are getting their fur and bigger. I give my third doe a nest tomorrow in case she was ooopsed through the wire a few weeks ago.

I have been working really hard at doing nothing the last few days and getting good at it.

We did the new tennant into the rental property last night. He drove 9 hours from NY in a U-haul. Helped him get his couch moved in so he had a place to sleep. The Princess was happy since an empty rental is a liability.

The weather let me get outside so I finished up toss the old dirt in the basement. Used a rope to guide the cart down the snow covered hillside.

No injuries today.

went shopping today, never drove over 50 because of my brakes ( they work but pulling REALLY hard to the right if I go any faster than 30)
Walmart in nearest town didn't want to drive further to the Aldi...it was practically deserted. Produce looked crappy , no Mozerella cheese blocks for pizza, was going to get pork ribs for New years eve but they cost over $20 for a relatively small pack so I got a pork loin for roast instead
It did warm up a little today but son's water is still mostly frozen.

Moved the three 8-week old buck-lings out of momma's cage to their own with litter box and toys. So far they seem shocked they have room but no milk on tap. It is time to wean the kits from momma so we can get her fit for another round of kits in the spring. I will move a pair of doe-lings this weekend. Gives momma time to dry a bit up before the next round of kits 'move out'. Then the last pair of girls will move out next week.

4 more weeks and I will have bunny in the freezer and the pot!

Tractor tire has been installed and carb has been adjusted. This 74 year old tractor purrs like it's off the show room floor. Still have to order rear hub seals and get the brakes all fixed. Oil changes and a coolant flush are also on the agenda.

Burn pile is almost gone and up under it is some rich soil that'll be perfect for disking this spring.

It was about 35° and sunny today so we got a pretty good melt. I took a nap this afternoon that turned out to be way longer than I wanted to nap. Then my kid came over and told me the cruise control quit working in her car. That little Corolla is turning out to be a real pain in my butt. In two months I've had to replace both sway bar links and the cruise and the traction control have gone out. This car only has 116,000 miles on it, and it's not living up to Toyota's reputation for reliability...
