Was reading the news and the power companies are asking people to conserve and they may need to implement rolling power outages.

I remember being in a hotel when they had those things in 94', being in a hotel where soda's freeze on the window ledge and having the power go on and off is not a pleasant memory.....

I think the worst is being in the middle of a shower and having the lights go dark... talk about feeling exposed :)

No showering in foul weather!!🥴

I was finally able to clear the frozen pipe, no burst, so I am thankful. I had to put a hair dryer on the pipe just below where I guessed where the plug was.

Today was cold, but we had enough sun to fully charge my batteries, the outdoor lights get to stay on all night tonight, then back to the normal 5 hours per night till midnight on the 31st when they all go out... :)

Really didn't do much today. Other than the normal chores, feeding, restocking firewood etc. I changed the oil in the wife's Grand Cherokee and moved the snowblower in the shop to thaw out. I've got a new control box on order. This machine has to electric motors on the discharge chute, one to rotate it and one to adjust the angle. The switch for the angle discharge doesn't work.

Cooked and did animal chores and made it to church by 4:30. Had dinner almost ready to go when we got home at six. Little granddaughter and neighbor Levi got the whole driveway lit up by luminarias, looks real good. Twins showed up a few minutes before dinner, sat and ate with us, didn't say much. Sat to open one gift, then left again....grandson to upstairs, granddaughter to boyfriends house. Little granddaughter just got to bed, but she's so excited, she'll have a hard time getting to sleep, for sure

Broke a tooth, put a shutoff valve on a pipe with broken hose-bib (still not sure what part is broken), lost my balance and fell on pipes in the pump house & broke them, rushed to HomeDepot (closer than Lowes & other hardware stores were closed) with my brother to get fittings & pipe to replace it, got more stuff at Lowes that wasn't at HD, rushed home but it was too cold to use the PVC cement by the time I got back (nowhere has the all weather stuff available), found some frozen shrimp spring rolls in the freezer to air fry for Mom (since I can't wash dishes or cook stuff that needs water), and I'm about to take my meds and play Elder Scrolls Online a little bit.

My folks are visiting for the holiday. They arrived just before dinner last night when they were suppose to be here around lunch. My dad gets caught up in the little things the day he needs to leave instead of taking care of it ahead of time. No biggie. I made sure all my plans were flexible.

My rabbit, Katie, kindled this morning. 7 kits in the nest. She is a first time mom so I was stressed she'd have them on the wire. She started pulling fur in her litter box. That is normally a bad sign. By the time Roo told me and I got to her cage she had moved to the nest. I moved some of the fur from the litter box to the nest and she cleaned up the fur for herself and moved it to the nest. Smart rabbit. Does this make me a Grand-bun-ma?

I weighed all the 8 week old kits from the previous litter. Average weight is 2lbs 14oz. 4 more weeks to go til butchering day.

Chatting with the dog breeder and making sure he is holding the puppy I want until after the holidays. Getting the puppy now would mean a new scared puppy in a house full of adult dogs and extra humans. Not to mention the noise and movement.

Still have to wrap presents before I go to bed tonight. We are playing Dirty Santa tomorrow.

Started up the car and truck and made sure they were good to go tomorrow. Looks like we can drive the car though. Got all the plowing done so we can get out of the yard. My grader guy is gone for a month.

Made two pans of disgustingly rich dark chocolate brownies, an apple caramel deep dish pie and a cherry/blackberry pie to take with us for our contribution to the expected pig out.

Got all the lunch fixins for the trip, thermos's for tea, hot chocolate and soup ready to go. Nothing open tomorrow.

We are having our Christmas the day after tomorrow. Son and DIL (Dr.s) are working Christmas and boxing day so the others with kids can stay home.

yes got a text on the phone yesterday from ours: "please conserve electricity until 12/25 at noon

We don't use much but that was the first time I ever saw that
Our pipes are thankfully still running so we have water
But burning a ton of wood already in both stoves and the winter just started

Got up at 5:30. DH and I opened presents. Made biscuits and gravy casserole.

I did the same thing. My wife loves it. I did not walk the dog, though.

We will open presents a little later, then eat breakfast. We are going to a friends house for dinner this evening. Neither of us had any plans for the day. Hope the roads are O.K.

Coffee!! Just got in from feeding Buddy. It was SO QUIET!! Not even a bird! Total, nice silence!! And then Buddy made his morning anoucements, donkeys in the distance answered!! Just having a nice day at home. Cooking a ham and the fixings. Hopefully catching a nap. Was going to go clean my building, but checked on it yesterday, everything was good!! Getting in the upper 40's today, so will enjoy some sun!!

Nice easy morning here... cats & kittens galloping around the house as I sip herbal tea. Still gotta feed the birds and fill their baths, but I'm letting the sun get a little higher first... it's cold out there! I'll bake a ham later with all the trimmings, no plans to leave the property today! A good Christmas Dinner and quality time with the cats... that'll work for me! Cheers!
