I went up to the coffee shop this morning. While there, the lady running the shop asked me to do her a favor and haul two big trash bags out to the dumpster for her. She's elderly, so I said "Sure, no problem" and carried them out. It was snowing heavily, very large fluffy flakes, and the snow was two inches deep. I took two steps out the door and my feet went right out from under me! I fell on my back and cracked the back of my head on a solid sheet of ice under that snow. There's a pretty good knot back there and I'm still not feeling quite right, although it's better now than it was right after it happened. I'm debating going to get it checked out. I have mild pain behind my eyes and my neck is sore like I twisted it. My kid is here now and we'll monitor the situation and go to the nearest hospital if necessary.

You probably have a concussion. This happened to me once at a theme park in Orlando. I slipped and fell on wet pavement wearing flip flops. But it actually knocked me out for a minute or few. They took me to the hospital in the ambulance and did a scan on my head . If you feel nauseous you probably have one , mine was bad for about 3 days. I couldn't even read anything, my vision was blurry.

Sonya, I'm glad the lambs survived the birth and hope you can find a way to get them to eat and stay nourished.
Thanks , the lambs are fine and she is taking care of them. So far so good

BUT we had another very sad thing happen, first time this ever happened. One of our goats that was not due for another month miscarried her 2 kids and of course they were dead. She was at the bottom of the pasture licking them trying to get them up. It was very sad. Husband and son had to drag her into the barn last night and this morning she was still crying looking for her babies :( She seems to be ok. I don't know what caused it but when I looked it up it said it could be a bacterial infection so I did give her a shot of antibiotic just in case.

So today it was very windy cold and pouring this morning so everyone stayed in the barn. No new babies. We did the best we could cleaning a little around them, and feeding and watering. All the lambs looked ok. The first 3 are getting really big already and they are only a few weeks old. Tried feeding the triplets but they didn't want any , so they must be getting enough from mom

Made pizza and watched Netflix. That's it today, trying to recoup from the stress the last few days. I hope the weather goes back to being nicer. It was sunny and warm yesterday, today freezing, and raining alternating with snow. This afternoon it looked like a blizzard for a while but not sticking

Ha Ha. Our daughter's cringe if I do that to a boyfriend. And neither of them have one at the moment. But the last one that visited didn't know what to do with himself on the farm. I had him pick buckets of tomatoes, then look on youtube how to sex very young rabbits, then pick up six different ones, sex them, and sort them in cages by sex. He did ok. Too bad he turned out to be a druggie jerk later.
Finished one batch of rendering lard in the crock pot. Got 5 pints. More and more to do. Put yogurt in the freeze dryer. Coming down with a nasty cold.

Can you explain what a "Coup-contrecoup" injury is? I understand it's what happens when the head is moving and then hits something and stops, but I don't really understand what it means...
coup-contrecoup was what I was thinking happened. Basically when you fell, the back of your head hit the pavement or metal with enough force that the reverberation caused your brain to then hit the front of your head, so its the original site of injury is the coup (back of your head) with enough force to cause another site of injury from your brain bouncing around inside your skull - hitting the front part of your skull (contrecoup).
Your moving head causes it
A "coup" injury is something striking your head in a specific spot. Hope that helps.

Spike, I'm glad you got checked out. I was worried about your neck. Hope you heal up quickly.
Sonya, sorry to hear about the goats.

I'm feeling cruddy today. I keep forgetting things and I'm exhausted. It was cold so I didn't go for a walk. I keep forgetting to eat. I need to take some cough medicine I think bc I keep coughing. I get easily distracted.

Worked on a plan for my shower reno. Will talk to my friend about it more tomorrow. Cooked for mom and started clearing out my bathtub that has been storing stuff. Got winded after moving the dresser so I'm taking a break. Still need to eat though.

To much stress from the twins!! Take care of yourself, and spread that cold to them and your Monday company!😉 That's bad to say, but hey why not!!

Ha Ha. Husband said that I probably got it from the twins. I said, "no way, I haven't seen them face to face in months!". Sad but true. Not that sad. Anyway, they never came home after school today, and I have no idea where they are.
Unfortunately, little granddaughter is starting to sniffle. I see her all the time. I need to clear this up, my cousin Jay is having a blue grass duo play in his barn tomorrow night, and I plan on going.

Bone broth, vitamins, a hot epsom salts bath and plenty of rest 💕

Exactly. Just start coughing really loudly and don't cover your mouth. That will make them scatter. LOL

Edited to add: Not medical advice, of course.. haha
That's what I do everytime someone asks why I'm wearing a mask. LOL. It is actually comfortable when its cold out- keeps my face warm. Keeps me from touching my nose/mouth when I'm out in public.

Mom gave me some cough medicine. Its working a little. Still not feeling great. Need to do some cleaning and prep work tomorrow.

Looking at the weather forecast it looks like the really hard winter is leaving early. So today I have a number of "spring" projects to start ranging from bed prep to building a frame over my rain barrels to support some more solar. Speaking of rain barrels I am tempted to re-connect my rain collection system, But I think I may just connect a new sight glass and wait 2 more weeks to see if anything ugly pops it's head up. I have promised a buddy in TN some of my greenhouse variety seeds so I need to start getting those sorted for him....

The last time we went to the Dr's office the wife picked up a nasty cough but as of last night she appears to be feeling better. :) This is the 3rd time this year that she has gone to the Dr's healthy and come home sick.

I will probably walk first this morning. Our little town's Mardi Gras parade is at 10, so I want to be home before that. I went about to the last one 3 years ago. That was enough- I guess I don't like crowds too much.
Will organize some family photos that I have been putting off for a while and maybe take ebay photos that have been put off too.
Go turn in our taxes to our lady at H&R Block, this afternoon.
Soak some beans tonight to cook tomorrow.

Working!! Too much lately! I do have my schedule pared down starting next month, which isn't too far away!! Will empty and clean Buddy's water trough later, catch up on some laundry. Haul some firewood in the house and vacuum. Hubby is home today, splitting wood! Working on his truck, redoing the A/C. Hope everyone has a great day!!

Easy day, it's the weekend. up at 4 am, paid the bills, read the mail, fed the outside animals. Now it's cartoons and coffee. Lori leaves today to "farmsit" (Play with Star). Read the BZA packet for Wednesday, and looked at the Zoning code till my eyes revolted:p. When it gets warm, beer run and refill the community cat food bin, I found Kit and Kaboodle for them again :)
