I HATE weedeating, although it's SO much better than hand pulling or using clippers like i did as a kid.

Sounds like you are getting accustom to a shovel like i have done all spring. LOL makes my shoulders ache just thinking about it.

I'm wanting to go fishing so bad. Just hasn't worked out so far this year

Be here and ready to go at 4AM. The more the merrier 😂 They are taking firewood and a coffee pot for the wait until sunup.

Well, I will say I did the 10 bags (50lbs each) first because I bought them at our little feed store. Made husband swing by the house and got those put in the milkhouse. Then went to Tractor and got the other 6, because I can't get game bird mix in our town. Soooo I had a break in between. My sis was watching me move a couple of bags when she was here, and she's nearly 70, a bit older than I am, and shook her finger at me and reminded me that I should start thinking about an easier way to haul feed since I'm getting pretty old, too. Haven't come up with a good way yet, unless I change where I store them. The milkhouse has a big step up to it, and a concrete step over before I get to the door.
A very impressive thunderstorm happening right now. We need the rain

I had a friend who once she got about 70ish started using a cheap snow sled. She said pulling was easier than lifting.

Well, it's lifting the bags out of the back of the truck, walking about 5 steps with it, and a 6 in concrete step over, another 7 steps where I plop it on the milkhouse floor. Then I step high into the milkhouse, and move the bag where I need it. We have another building, but it's full at the moment, where there's no stepover. The milkhouse has been rodent safe so far because the barn cats go in and out of it. I keep rabbits in one room, water barrel storage, feed...the other room doesn't have a slide door, so it's harder to get in to. I keep the dog's bedtime kennels in there and a 5 ft by 6 ft cage for young fowl that are out of the brooders, but not ready for the big league yet. The meat chickens will go in there in a week or so. They'll be too stinky to leave in the brooders in the house. I use a wagon to haul things where I can normally...have a wagon on each end of the property. I remember my mil saying she'd have the store guy load a bag of rock salt to her trunk. When she got home, she'd scoop out what she could carry at a time in buckets. What a pain.

Cleaned a disabled lady's apartment today!😮 She has a dog that sheds a lot. Wow, a lot of hair and dust and clutter! Got it looking great and smelling better. She goes to church with another lady I clean for, a few ladies from the church paid me! I kept it cheap even though it was a horrible job. Thought it was cool of the ladies to help her!! Came back around to me!😊 Stopped by the feed store for a couple of bales of hay. There was a lady also getting hay and had her horse in a trailer with her. She had a hay net hanging in the trailer and the horse had a front leg hung in it🙄🤔! She was afraid to get in the trailer with it, thought it would spook. It wasn't happy, but I got in there and cut the hay net loose and got it of the horse's leg, we both lived!😃 I went in to pay for my hay and the lady paid for it already, I bought two more since I was going to anyway! So I came home with four 110# bales of Bermuda. That will hold me for a bit! Got it unloaded, got on the pool float with a couple cold ones, brushed a bunch more hair out of Buddy and Bear! Have to work all weekend, catch up on laundry and do some push mowing! I'm tired!😉😃

Nice morning, so I'm heading outdoors to enjoy some spring sunshine... won't be that long before the weather gets hot, lol. I like spring & fall in the high desert, those are the best months. Winter is okay, since it's pretty mild... but summer can get hot, triple-digits and sometimes over 110, but at least it cools off quickly at night due to the elevation. I'll run A/C during the worst of it, mainly in the afternoon & evening... just short spells of A/C to keep the temp knocked down indoors. I already tested the A/C and it's good to go. :)

I think I'll dig some more holes for stuff I'll be planting soon, even if I run out of soil amendment materials... I'd like to get the planting rows laid out so all I have to do is put the seedlings into the ground. Maybe buy some more soil and soil amendment stuff in the near future, I'm only doing what I have to do in order to keep things growing. I wanna make a trip to Las Cruces for some of that Azomite Peanut mentioned, the trace minerals would probably help stuff grow in this high desert soil. Not the best soil, but once it's amended it will support life, lol. ;)

Otherwise, I'll be hangin' out at the ol' hacienda today, no need to go anywhere... I don't like going to town on weekends anyway, all the stores are more crowded. Same way I don't like riding up in the mountains on weekends, why deal with extra traffic when I can go during the week? Not that traffic is heavy here, but hey, when you're on a bike, less traffic is good, lol. I checked the forecast, and it looks like we'll have some calmer days toward the end of the week, so I may FINALLY go riding after all. I just like riding on the best possible days with the least amount of traffic, lol.

It was the same way with sailing back in San Diego: I'd try to go on Tuesdays & Thursdays, since there were civilian and naval ship movements on Mondays & Fridays, and rich wanks would hold their 'Beer Can Races' on Wednesdays. I'd avoid weekends due to marine traffic, and especially holiday weekends when there were a million drunken fooliots on the water... most of 'em clueless about the 'Rules of the Road.' Some of those drunken powerboat "operators" were downright dangerous, and yes, there were collisions where people got killed. Better to go on Tuesdays & Thursdays, lol. 😒

Have to remember to pack a lunch and go sit at the boat ramp on Memorial Day weekend, it's quite often hilarious.

Yep. I'm the workhorse around here. Husband is on a walker or scooter. He can only walk short distances, and he can't pick up much over 15 lbs. So he's always the "driver" and supervisor, and moral support guy. Little granddaughter is only 11, and while she can be a help, she doesn't do that much. But she will be helping me clean out two very large chicken coops tomorrow. The twins were both very strong, but they really had not helped with anything at all the last year or so.

How many days til the twins get their walking papers?

I feel shot today. I was up early but then I sat back down in my chair, and fell asleep again. Didn't wake up for three hours. My kid is taking her ACT college entry exams today. I'm hoping for an outstanding score. She's super strong at reading and writing, like I was, but she's better at math and science than me. I scored a 27 on my ACT back in the day. I'm hoping she can get closer to 30. A 30 plus her good grades might get her some academic scholarships.

When she gets done with the test, I told her we'd go do something together this afternoon. I'm thinking of going down to Des Moines and taking her out to the mall. It's not just for her - there's a big Scheels store in the mall for me to go to!😉

one of my cousins came up from south Jersey. She had her uncle‘s ashes and wanted to put him by his parents. That cemetary is up by me and I go there every year to place the grave blankets. Her uncle was her mom’s half brother and was handful. In and out of jail and such. She said it was time to get him out of her closet. Afterwards we went for lunch and started to make plans for going down there so we could go on the tour Englishtown where my dad grew up.

rest of the day will be spent getting dad ready to go to Navy ship reunion next week. It’s in Mobile, Alabama and he’s getting anxious about flying and having to change planes in Charlotte.

My morning plans were delayed by the massive thunderstorm. My friend said there was a crack so loud it scared his girlfriend. Thunder actually helps me sleep. Only thing that bothered me was when the power blinked out a couple of times. I had to wrap the poor dog in a blanket in my arms and hold her close to me because she was shaking in terror. I kept telling her to relax and I fell asleep holding her after she stopped shivering. Woke up and she'd moved and a cat had moved into her spot. My oldest cat, Boo, likes to be outside when the weather is nice but he will come sleep on my bed when we have bad weather. So, he's racked out next to me. I need to get up, haul trash out, and see if Samsclub delivered my stuff to a decent spot (or if they even got the right house).

Spike, I hope she does well on the ACTs.

The last couple of times that I purchased concrete mix, I knew I'd never be able to lift it into or out of the trunk of my car. I took buckets and used an empty and clean # 10 can to scoop the mix from the package into the buckets that were in my trunk.

Home from the party. It was a wonderful and memorable event. I didn't know all of the people, but I did know about half of them. Great food, great fun, great music and dancing. Great to catch up with so many people, some whom I haven't seen in more than 20 years. Some people flew in for the party. The nacho bar and ice cream bar were great ideas and it was so delicious. Plenty of beverages. There were 7 children present.

Hey Grimm....they walked. We said it was ok if they moved in with another couple about 3 miles from us. But officially it's 57 more days till they're 18, and then we're not "legally" guardians anymore. At least they're not here. The judge said it was ok, since we said ok, but made it known that they were not being removed from our home, and that we were not kicking them out. Because that's the story I'm sure they're telling everyone.
Busy day cleaning out chicken coops. Little granddaughter helped. The coops are big, so quite a bit of work, but luckily only need to be done every month or so. Husband's breathing is terrible today, so he's been using his portable oxygen, which he usually does not use during the day. Just oxygen at night. Not sure what's going on with him, but no other symptoms, and he doesn't want to go in. Can't say I blame him. Got some kitchen shelves cleaned out and decluttered.

Our friends came over and we had a nice lunch. They loved my Indian food and my cake and the goat kids...
Ate too much, so much for that diet I did this week. I think I just undid all of it in one day.
Oh, our friends ( an older couple), the guy has some very serious health problems from the covid vaccine. Guilles barre ( sp?). He could end up paralyzed and has to go to the doctor for some serious therapy every month now. How terrible. He had 4 shots, work required it. The doctor told him most definitely it was from that vaccine, and his work is paying the 20k a month for the treatment because they forced him to get it.

Glad your home will be less chaotic with them gone. Sad your grandchildren had to be such pricks they needed to leave a loving home.

Now you can focus on deprograming the little one.

Home from work about 4am, got to sleep early-ish, about 5:30am and slept good until noon when the mailman said he had a large package that would not fit in the package lockers at the corner so I had to go clooect that box. Nothing for me, but I had to get it none the less. Did a little work in the garage preparing to organize shtuff. Part of that deal was cutting foam board insulation for the last uninsulated part of the garage between the two garage doors. Cut the foam board to size, spray with contact cement, and shove it into place. Well, I ran out of spray contact cement so told the girls I would take them to dinner at the cafe but we needed to leave at 5:30 so I could get to the local hardware store in time to get more spray glue. Well, they planned the cleaning of and movement of the baby chicks too late and we left the house too late and I missed the store by 1 minute. Ugh!!! Dinner at the diner, $50 for 3 of us to eat very modest meals of burgers and fries.
Took a ride further into the hills to see the two reservoirs completely full, at which time I noticed my left front tire on my truck was low. Used my small air compressor to try and fill it but it blew a fuse so had to drive home (quickly) on a low tire. 25 pounds in a 70 pound tire is not a good thing. I know it had a slow leak but I was afraid I hit a sharp rock and made it worse. So far it is holding but I will get to the tire shop next week and have them look at it. I filled it up at home, we shall see what it looks like tomorrow.
GF will be late coming home, her flight from Chicago to Vegas was delayed a few times and then she has about a 2.5 hour drive home to Utah from Vegas. Just got a text that she is walking to her car now. Today/tomorrow I will be trying to organize the garage to clean up the giant clutter mess, plus I need to put down about a dozen ducks for the GF to process for the freezer. With any luck I can talk her into cooking a couple for dinner. Mmmmm, roast duck is about as yummy as roast beef. I asked my neighbor to come over and help me brain storm some sort of organization of the garage. Every time I look at the mess I just get upset so hopefully we can figure out a way to stash some of it, hang some of it on the wall, and figure out what needs to go to the dump. Don't worry though, I have plenty of PBR in the cooler to help me through that headache.
Gonna take a shower and head to bed.
Sweet dreams to me, good morning to all ya'all.

Will have Church this morning.
Walk dogs.
Going to a play this afternoon with a friend. "Prescription:Murder" It's supposed to be the precursor to Columbo. I haven't been to a play since the mid 90's. Used to love going to plays and the dinner theatre when we lived in FL!
I haven't gone to a play in years, I always loved to go!!
