It's 0800 at D&D Farms in Twin Falls County; Dawn and I have been up since before 0600 working in the gardens. We bought a couple more irrigation timers, since we're going to be gone from the 11th to the 18th with kids (4) and grandkid (1) up to spend a week camping in the foothills of Mt. Ranier.

We're also having our neighbors' kids come by to give them their chores (they're going to be checking the irrigation systems and feed the chickens) while we're gone. We'll be packing up our outdoor gear, and Dawn wants the house to be cleaned up so we'll have a nice place to come home to!

This is our first vacation with our family since I don't know when. Andy/Elicia will be flying up from PHX and will be picked up by Dan/Eleni in Seattle then drive to Ranier, hopefully to find Grandpa/Grandma up there (we're driving from Idaho) ...

...and a good time will be had by all: hiking in the woods, pickin' the guitar and singing 'round the campfire -- and watching our savings disappear.

Playing golf today. Don't worry, Pearl. I already did the dishes.

How's that golf game going Morgan??

Hey @Mountain trapper, I was just at the dentist office and I didn't see you.... It might be because they had a grinder, a pair of channel locks, and a come-along in my mouth so I couldn't see anyone. I think that the bill is based on pain delivered divided by the time spent in the chair. Wife is happy, I have a mouth full of gauze and I can't talk back... Heck I can just barely spell.....

Had to make a town run to exchange library books and pick up more beer... ROBINSON CRUSOE makes for tough sledding in the world of literature, I picked up some more Westerns so I can set down Daniel Defoe, lol. I'll pick him up again later when I'm out of Westerns to read, yeah? Plus there was that BS about fainting in bad weather, pfffffft... what kind of sidewalk sissy faints in bad weather at sea? I ain't buyin' it, lol... 😒

Not sure if I'm in the mood to tackle the last of the kitchen rehab work, every time I go to town I feel like relaxing afterward, lol. Maybe I'll do that stupid caulking & painting tomorrow, I have nothing but triple-digit weather outside for at least a week, so the rehab work will get done sooner or later. Right now, this cold beer I cracked is tasting pretty darned good, lol. Maybe I'll watch the rest of 'JURASSIC WORLD' on the curved screen, I started it last night but only made it so far. 😬

I'm getting hungry too, and I have all kinds of tasty leftovers in the fridge... I know that once I eat, I'm NOT gonna wanna do any home rehab work, lol. I'll try to knock out that stoopid BS manana, there really isn't that much to do, but like the rest of the kitchen rehab work, it'll be a PITA. Tomorrow morning, I won't have to go anywhere or do anything (except water in the yard), so I'll bite the bullet and do that rehab work so I can finally finish the kitchen painting project. 🙄

Paid bills and ran errands. Otherwise it's just wet enough not to be able to work on things outside. After a series of phone calls I was able to track down the original maker of the my SOs saddle. He's still local so I'm going to have him replace the fleece on it for me. And if it was purchased with the horse by my SO I may be able to find out where he came from and possibly his breeding.

Took the boy to town to find work this morning. He got a job on a demolition crew gutting an old timeshare resort. Started him at $18.50 an hour not bad wages for a kid, when I started working I got $2 per hour.

Not a bad way to get into the construction industry... tear things apart first and see how they were built. Good sturdy work boots & gloves are mandatory, as I'm sure y'all know. ;)

When I was around 11 years old, I started delivering newspapers... the very first things I bought with my own earned money were a pair of Chicago Trucks and a set of Cadillac Wheels for a homemade skateboard, lol. That was a milestone for me, buying that skate equipment.

Picked up my oldest son, 15 1-2, for the weekend. Got home about 10pm and immediately grabbed the not great battery out of the Monte Carlo to try and start the Avalanche. It still needed a jump start but it ran and drove to move to the main driveway. Hosed off the chipmunk poop and seed shells off the engine and gave him instructions on how to wash the engine compartment and truck tomorrow morning. Put the good battery charger on the battery for the night but I suspect it will need a new battery. At lunch break tomorrow I will give instructions on washing and vacuuming the interior. AKA, garden hose and shop vac to suck out all the spilled Pepsi and ther gunk. After work we will get what we need for an oil change and possibly a new battery at NAPA from the small town north of here. If that goes well an transmission fluid change is in order. I thought this day would never come. I hope to get it reliable soon. Fortunately the gas tank is almost empty. I dumped in 2/3 of a can of Sea Foam into the gas tank. I will top it off with High-Test Saturday if all goes well.
Looking forward to a productive weekend.

We get a lot of scorpions in the house, guess it's too hot outside for them😃! Always tons of snakes, but the black widows are the overwhelming poisonous pests this year!!
I've been expecting to see rattlesnakes show up, they usually do when we get a streak of hot weather, we have wood scorpions around but they usually make their homes in old rotting stumps, these scorpions sometimes get over 6" in length, especially in old growth forests, I've read that their stings are about that of a bee or a Yellowjacket, you probably get the white scorpions which I've heard are far more dangerous.

Yesterday went better than expected, I had to wait longer than I wanted to get my meds (antibiotics and pain killers). I took off today to get ready for a visit from family. The plan is to do grocery shopping this morning and fuel the vehicle, once home I can take the pain killer, my mouth hurts everywhere except where they cut out the tooth, stitches will be out in a week or 2.

I have 2 virtual meetings today that couldn't wait (concept of day off does not seem to apply). One is very important to me, a piece of equipment for work in TN, the old unit is 19 years old and has been very productive for my team, need a new one badly but it is very expensive!! (I'm not allowed to play with it! :) ) The other meeting is trying to pick up some part time staffing for the office. It's so hard to get qualified people who can fill the role that we need: to make matters worse I really need to get the candidates selected before next Thursday.

We have a gal coming in to help the wife today, it will be a blessing if she works out. Part of the day will be spent showing her how to deal with the wife when her light go out... It's sad, This person needs the money and was willing to work, but we didn't learn about her till last weekend and their family is in the process of moving to UT, but they will be here through August and that will buy be a lot of needed time.

I hope to be able to work outside in the garden this weekend (not Sunday, expecting rain). The garden is really producing well, the shelves I made outside to hold small nursery pots (1/2 gal) are producing a lot of salad stuff. I have room for 30 but 6 are providing more lettuce than I can eat, I thing I will put spinach and some cool weather crops in some soon.

The juice the wife made to marinate the Kabobs the other day didn't work out well, she added pineapple and it turned the chicken to mush. But I noticed that it really attracted bugs (ants, earwigs, ...) they climbed a hot grill to get to it! So I plan to use some old pint jars as bug traps in the garden using the juice I saved as bait!

We just get those little brown scorpions, usually no bigger than 2"! Their stings hurt like heck, but usually no I'll effects.

Carpet cleaning jobs today! Three at a senior apartment complex, will pick up extras when people realize I am there with the the machine. I'll do as many as I can and reschedule some for a different day! Hoping to have tomorrow off, but may not. Busy schedule through the end of next week!!

Day off. Much needed day off. I'm am completely exhausted from this week. No surprise--I got to see the stats for the week. On Tuesday, the pharmacist and I accomplished in four hours more than was done on Saturday in 7.5 (with 2 technicians) and Sunday in 6.5 with just myself and the pharmacist. The Saturday crew actually complained about how busy they were.

Alas there is no rest for the weary. Taking Dad to Lowes to get more tomato cages then on to food shopping. In the afternoon, Miss Heidi needs to visit the vet for her annual.
