Got the garden watered yesterday, today I'll water the orchard, grapes and berry's. Caught another rodent in the strawberries and shot a chipmunk off the top board of the corral. It got up to almost 80 degrees yesterday, should be a little cooler today. Took the side by side up to the shop yesterday for some repairs. Looked at a pair of jet ski's, tempting.
I need to replace the battery's in my welding machine and my 4 wheeler. Neither one will hold a charge. My cordless weed whacker just quit for no apparent reason. I had less than 5 hours on it. I'll take in next week and get it fixed.

Woke up and started on laundry. Checked the dryer to clean the lint filter since I knew my brother had done his laundry. His stuff was still in the dryer and of course the lint filter was full. Cleaned it out and took his crap out and dumped it on his bed. Discovered he left a yellow shirt in the washing machine and didn't care. I threw red stuff in there and used color guard detergent. Just moved stuff to the dryer now.

Just finished watering and getting cleaned up, it's a warm one out there already... I'm gonna take it easy in the A/C today, just putter around in the kitchen and otherwise chillax. This hot weather rags me out if I stay outside too long... when I was a younger man, I was hardcore and I could easily withstand the heat, but now that I'm older, I'm less hard, lol.

I remember going out with this gal to the desert when it was around 120* F in Anza-Borrego... I told her, "This is when you feel the POWER of the desert!" We were younger then, and she was a real trooper in the field... I was heavily into hiking & climbing at that point, so I knew a number of really cool outdoor venues where we had heaps of fun.

That gal had a 5L Mustang convertible which was pretty nice, we'd head out there with the top down and have a blast, put up the top if it got too warm, the car had A/C and all. I guess the top was made of some special fabric that retained cold air better than the older ragtops. It was a sporty car, that's for sure... dunno where that gal is now.

All is now CHAOS! Marina Gwynn has gotten her last shots, been Microchipped is a FREE RANGE CHAOS KITTEN. Might be days before the next sighting. Cage is collapsed and stored, she sat on the dogs tail, so the whole house is hers for the ransacking.

My youngest housecat, Tiger, was so amazed when we brought Bear home last summer! He has a TAIL!! Tiger grew up with the Doberman and was so perplexed by Bear's tail!!🐱

Walked first, this morning.
Tried to call my friend that I who doesn't drive, but went straight to voicemail. I went to do a welfare check and she had run out of minutes for her phone (that sounds familiar). Took her to local grocery.
I have the first run of 14 quarts of dog food in pressure canners. I may have 2 more full canners before I'm done.
Went out and picked jalapenos, dug up potato plants that looked like they were dying- not even one potato. Dug up parsley that was on it's last leg.
It's still lower to mid 90's here, so not much more outside today.

Glad to have a break in the heat, went out and tried to rescue a few things in my sadly neglected garden. Finally planted some pepper and basil plants that were still in their little cups, don't know if they'll make it or not but I didn't have the heart to just toss them in the compost heap, they were such troopers.
Had to try and sort things in the shop building, have a crazy stack of furniture from my Dad's place and still need to clean and organize so I can pack up stuff in the house and store it out there. Got too busy with it to get the grass cut and now we have rain for today and tomorrow. Oh well, the grass will still be there next week.
My offer to purchase on the new place was accepted; found some issues during the home inspection so we're doing the estimating and negotiating thing with the hopes of getting to a price point that's good for both of us. I have to be wise about how much to spend on the house and how much to keep back for repairs. Really leaning on my brothers and thankful they're smart and willing to help. My Husband was the brains of the outfit and I really struggle with decisions.
Dade I had to look at the first picture a few times to make out the kitten in the dog fluff! Cute!
ABR I hope you feel better soon.
Prayers for you and your husband, Amish.

Sounds like you are making great decisions, glad you have your brothers to lean on!! Hope all goes well with the house!!

How do you opperate jet skis in all that snow? 😂

No spuds at all? Any idea why not?

Have almost 20 lbs of apricots on the dehydrator. Planted some beet seeds where I pulled the arugula that had gone to seed. Have had water going for 2 days. Currently, 93* - tomorrow supposed to be 102* so want everything will watered.
Now getting canner put away from last batch of green beans and kitchen cleaned up from all this food. Also, have blueberries to take care of.

Strated the work to get the hugelkultures on The Ridge ready for planting in the fall.

Next step is to weed whack and deploy landscape fabric. Snacked on wild strawberries while I was there. Most of the pear trees have hanging fruit. The ild apple tree has a lot of fruit but none of trees I planted.

I plan to bring The Princess up there after she finishes work for the day.

Played "find the boxes" today with a weed whacker. I found all 11.

One will require loppers to clear up. If all goes well I may be bringing in a pickup full of special mix this week. I suspect I will need more than one load to top off all of the boxes.

I am looking forward to digging into the hugelkultures to see how the logs in the bottom are doing now.

Made a nice breakfast of pancakes & syrup, fried eggs & sausage... after doing the dishes, I told myself I'd "just lie down for a minute." BAM!!! Woke 2+ hours later, lol... guess I needed the nap. Meh, it's the weekend, right? So I'm giving myself the weekend off, lol. I'm in no mood to deal with home rehab work today, so it'll hafta wait a day or two... ;)

Hey, Magus! These posters on my wall have been in my family for half a century or so, I keep 'em because they remind me of better days when my family was all together. These are from 'BUTCH CASSIDY AND THE SUNDANCE KID'---I wish I had an old 'JEREMIAH JOHNSON' poster, that was also a great Western! Anyway, here ya go...

Did the cleaning of rabbit cages and litter boxes with Roo. I will be doing it on my own for the next 2 weekends when Roo is with my folks. Fun. I made sure she did it right so my job is easier while she is gone. We had to get hay and feed from the feed store and I feel I broke the bank this time. I still have bunny money set aside for feed and hay but the cost is going up. I need to still order some more cages for the new setup after we move but I want to get the cages now to save on shipping costs from Santee, CA to NE Texas. Fun. I hate spending money if I can help not doing it. I am opting to buy the transport holes for our 6 breeders but I have not called the cage company to see if that is an in-stock item or a custom/made-to-order item.

Not sure how we are going to find a rental before we get to Texas. We don't want a long term one but some place we can have our animals without issues. Anyone looking for a tenant over the holiday season that pays cash/M.O. for rent on time if not early?!

I have so much to do.

Long day. Crasy at work. problem after problem. But things were looking better by end of the shift. Plans are probably changing tomorrow due to not having all the cabling and connectors we need that should have been included with the main equipment. Oh well, I have a list of stuff to order and find out about on Monday. Got a call from another guy about another project we've been expecting. Figures, my led tech for that one is on vacation. But I think we can still get it done.
Left work and went to a good friends mom's memorial service. Finally got home in time for it to start pouring rain. I needed to mow and pick maters and cukes
Off to bed soon, 5 am will be here before I know it

Busy life! Have an Aussie Shepherd staying with me this weekend. She is greatly bothered by all the fireworks that keep going off.
A friend and her partner bought a house 2 years ago and it was 90 miles away from where she grew up. They sold the house a few months ago and made $120,000 on it. Shocking! They bought a house that is much closer to home, 3 months ago. Today they had an open house. Another friend and I went to the open house together. I am happy for their success in home ownership. They are very different kind of people than me, party people, but I have always liked her. Their dog is not well and they will be losing her soon. Their dog was a good friend of our ridgeback, and when I see the dog, sometimes having not seen her in months, she remembers me and greets me with a howl.
Two dogs that I know died in the last week. One was a dog that I took care of, house sat with, and did so not even 3 weeks ago. She was 11 and had fluid in her lungs and around her heart.
Another dog is one I know from a dog park. Owner was on vacation and a dog sitter was taking care of the dog. He got into her trash, ended up with 3 different intestinal blockages. He had surgery last week and was put down on Thursday. He was a French bulldog, almost 15 and a lovable dog, well loved by many. Lots of us are so sad about him dying. Owner lost her mother a year ago and has been fragile since. If I had been taking care of him and he got into my trash, I would have been so mad at myself. I keep a baby gate up to keep dogs out of my kitchen and away from the trash.
Have I been crying about all of these dogs? Yes! I wish they lived longer lives!

Waited for curbside pickup order to be ready, then waited for mom to be ready.
Ate at Flying Wok.
Went to Samsclub & had to wait longer bc someone stole something off the pickup cart & the associate had to go back and pull it again.
Went to Walmart and met up with friend to get gas in his car and get some roach spray.
Popped in to friend's house after to get some of my stuff.
Brother helped me with groceries before he had to go to work.
Dissected rotisserie chickens into a ziploc bag and will have sammiches the next few days.
Trying to get my brain to let me go to sleep.

I see I got way behind on this thread , very busy for a few days, had market. It went well sold a lot despite the sort of bad start. I tried to make salt rising bread again, and it was working fine until the bread itself was supposed to rise, and didn't....it was plenty warm too so not sure why.
Discovered we missed another ram lamb to band. It's really too old now ( too big) so we need to put it somewhere else, or sell it. I think it will make more financial sense than pay the vet to do it at this point.
Garden now needs some rain and it looks like we will get some today. We've been watering but the ground is so hard it's impossible to pull out weeds
It's been hot here the last few days, well not super hot, around 80 but for here that's hot.

Have I been crying about all of these dogs? Yes! I wish they lived longer lives!
I still get sad thinking about my Heidi that passed last year. My puppy has gotten into the trash too, but he eats all sorts of crap outside too so unless I have him on a leash all the time I can't really stop him. Hope he makes it too old age....he is a little over 1 now

Going to clean my building shortly. A line of storms from Oklahoma is coming through right now. Got everyone fed and Bear out for his business before it hit. Not much rain with it, maybe more behind it?! Will probably take Bear to Tractor Supply when I get home. He needs to get out for a ride. I need his dry food, the house cat's dry food and donkey treats! Need to get hay tomorrow, my Monday job is close to the feed store. I also need to plan my menu for the week!!
