I placed my order on line and it was simple and it arrived when expected. All I know is what I encountered, but I don't doubt what your friend experienced. Was it on the phone, and did the person speak American English or another form of English?
I have no idea, but know she wasn't happy. I am glad it worked for everyone else.

There are two ways to go. Dorman makes an oem replacement. I saw it priced for $105 at several retailers including the amerzit.

Most of the same retailers also sell a no name brand for $40. I went with the cheap one figuring if it didn't work... hey, I'm only out $40.

But it seems as sturdy as the original. If it lasts another 5yrs... I intended to buy a new truck but covid happened. Guess I'll be driving the 02 for a while so i thought I should fix a few things. Just put a on set of 70K michelins, have new o2 sensors, plugs and wires in a box...

Question... does your truck have lights below the front bumper? Both mine are broken badly, not even sure what to call them. I searched fog lights for a silverado but didn't find anything close, not even the same shape. Maybe have a different name or assembly? Chevys and Sierras had a dozen possible front end configurations.

Different subject, I saw some telescoping side mirrors for towing. I've never liked the stock mirrors on this truck. Ever use those?
Lights below the bumper? On the Avalanche forum they were called Daytime Running Lamps. Yes, I have them. The cool thing on the forum was to change the bulbs to amber instead of white. I don't know what they are called but I can look into it. If I don't reply in a few days remind me. I am a few drinks past bedtime.

Running lights.

I fell asleep before 11pm last night and didn't wake up until after 6:30am. Eyes are still blurry. Will have to get up and feed kitties. Already refilled their water.

I'm going to try to organize my bathroom a bit more today and get stuff up off the floor.

Daughter wants to take husband in for his lab work and bandage change, so our son will probably work with me butchering some turkeys. He also offered to take a load to the dump, so that'll be good. I took the two of them to visit mom, their grandma yesterday, but she didn't remember them. Not sure how long they're staying, but am thinking another couple of days.

@Pearl lots of creepy crawlies this year, huh? Looks like I’ll have to call an exterminator today. I totally despise having to use that kind of stuff but might be time to call in the big guns. Termites are a possibility and quite common in the area. A co-worker said there are carpenter ants in her neighborhood.
A house’s central supporting beam was destroyed in the neighborhood where we lived back east forgot to add: by carpenter ants.

When I lived in the ol' beach cottage in Coronado, the termites were all that held it together, lol. If the termites had all split at once, the house would've come crashing down...

Town run for steaks & beers... if I'm gonna tackle the rest of this kitchen renovation project, I gotta do it right, lol. ;)

Already watered in the yard, still have wasps but there don't seem to be as many, hopefully nature is striking a balance and keeping the winged varmints in check.

Patchouli, I don't like using poison on my property either, for all the obvious reasons (but mainly the cats)... I had to nuke three ant nests with liquid poison recently, I pour the stuff right down the holes. Bad day for the ants...

I try to solve pest problems without using poison, but sometimes ya gotta bust out the hard stuff and engage in chemical warfare. I won't use poison anywhere near my fruit trees or garden veggies. 😒

With ants in the high desert, it's virtually impossible to kill 'em all, you can knock 'em down for 2-3 weeks, but like a bad rash, they'll be back... the Terminator has NOTHIN' on these high desert ants, I assure you, lol. 😬

Had TWO hummers appear as I was watering this morning, they hovered at the outer edge of the spray cone and took an aerial shower, lol... wish I could put their feeders back out, but the goldurned wasps are drawn to the sugar. :(

Remember when I said a person would have to be hammered to see a dolphin in the high desert? Well, I was wrong, me beloved & dear departed mum had this dolphin key ring at the ol' hacienda in Coronado, and it's not really practical for pocket storage, so I keep it hangin' from the rearview mirror in 'The Mighty Camry'---just a subtle reminder of all the cool times I saw dolphins offshore while sailing, and even a few in the bay. Pics taken while stone cold sober, I might add...

That home in the background is really nice with all those pine trees, but it fronts right on US-54 south of town... there's a nice green lawn under those trees, the owner's water bill is probably much higher than mine, lol. There's a similar rancho nearby that has a stable for horses and everything, the horses like to hang their heads out in the breeze, aye? Here's an unrelated shot of my brand-new beer cozy, I'm test driving it as I key this message, lol. My old cozies are lookin' pretty thrashed, so I'm gonna gradually phase in some new ones by buying one here and there... 😒

Just wanted to share those shots with y'all, as I'm NOT gonna be doing home rehab today, lol... I bought a bunch of meat for sale due to the "sell by" date on the packages, and I wanna cook it all up today and store it in the fridge. I don't mind buying meats that have reached their "sell by" date, some cuts actually taste better with a bit of aging, but I like to go ahead and cook 'em so the "first wave" of food-borne illness is aborted, BWAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!! Trust Wingnut to buy edgy meats, lol... it's a Nietzschean thing! "THAT WHICH DOES NOT KILL ME MAKES ME STRONGER!!!"

The lean ground beef doesn't look so bad, but the London Broil has aged a little, lol... no worries, I'm gonna cook it here pronto and make my own homemade version of carne asada burritos with chunks carved off the slab, aye? I have a hankerin' for carne asada with hot peppers, onion, vine-ripened tomato & guacamole, all wrapped up in a fresh flour tortilla with plenty of melted cheese... so the meat will actually be cooked twice, lol. First to rareness, then chunked up and added to the sauteed vegetables. I'll probably take a shot or two of rum while cooking, just to ensure safety, lol. 🤣

I'll probably cook the ground beef today as well, since I'm making pasta sauce with it and it won't hurt the sauce to sit in the fridge for a day or two, yeah? That way I can just reheat it and throw it on some pasta, which I'm also gonna cook today... so I have a pleasant afternoon of cooking ahead, punctuated by drinking, lol. Works for me!!! And it beats stinking home rehab work hands down, lol. I figure I'll man up and tackle the home rehab tomorrow... I'm living in 'Manana Land' here in Alamo, so it's okay to do this, lol. Gonna make like Zannej and be a "procrastinator" today, except in the kitchen! 😉

Took the boy to town to find work this morning. He got a job on a demolition crew gutting an old timeshare resort. Started him at $18.50 an hour not bad wages for a kid, when I started working I got $2 per hour.
WHOA! that's skilled labor wages!

The red dye hasn't been re-applied. Check the packaged on date and give it the sniff test. If it looks dry on the surface and not wet, there is no reason not to cook it up, but than again, some of us have stronger constitutions. Waste not, want not.

It's a thick slab: once I cook it to rareness, then chunk it up and sautee it with the hot peppers, onion, tomato, etc, it'll be fine... I plan on partying today anyway, so there'll be enough alcohol in my system to kill ANYTHING, lol. Said by the same hand who used to eat dog meat tacos after midnight on street corners in Tijuana, B.C., Mexico... with drunken friends, of course, lol. Ah, those dog meat tacos! Or whatever else they scraped off the roads in the form of road kill, lol... 😒

Had an easy day at work for once. We spent the morning ripping apart track panels. Then we took a lunch that may or may not have lasted a bit longer than the allotted time. After lunch we had to go back and re-line the rails on one of the track panels we installed the other day. The surfacing gang's equipment couldn't make it perfectly straight due some irregular conditions on site. So we pulled the spikes on 12 ties and lined the rails over an inch or so, by hand. No big deal. After that 3 of us had to stack a pallet of drinking water bottles in our job trailer by hand. That was the hardest work of the day! 😁 Not sure what tomorrow will bring yet, but it's my last day of work before 6 days off...

Worked on cleaning, laundry, business stuff.
Watched the silly squirrels 🐿️ out back. Poor things can’t even cool down. Birds visited the feeders and baths. Earlier I took off the bag from the mower that catches yard trimmings, plugged the thingy. Lol. Will work on the backyard eventually.
Have decided to get a leaf blower/vac. Looking for opinions on those. Would probably prefer an electric cordless one.

Spent most of the day resting. Went out late this afternoon and got the last side window deflector off the truck. Now I can dry fit the new ones for the front doors and mark them for cutting. I'm gonna have to cut the front lower corners where the side mirror panels are located. Gonna use my dremel tool with a cutting wheel, just take off a corner for a better fit.

Any one ever use Mitchell One DIY? it's a data base of vehicles, any year. They have the wiring schematics, factory repair/replace procedures, drawings, tech bulletins for 1000's of cars and trucks going back to 1985. I had an account with them years ago and found it very useful, a lot better than a chilton manuel.

Today I signed up for a year ($40) for my silverado. They have a one month account ($20), one year and 5yr accounts. If you need help with just one repair $20 isn't a bad price. I have several on going repairs, gonna take more than a month or 2.

Edit to add... here's the menu for my silverado. Links are in blue for subcategories. This is the kind of info I can use for a year...

Been busy working here.
Our daughter moved back up from CA. Thank goodness. She’s enrolled in the community college, foregoing volleyball so that she can finish pre med classes.
We moved her into her apt in town today and then went to work on the root cellar. We are also trying to get our storage containers all organized. That’s been a mess.
Had a burst of rain here today which was nice and it hasn’t been too hot, so perfect for moving. Thankfully her stuff filled a studio apt and it wasn’t too bad to move her, not like our move out here!
I have 2 more days off before I have to go back to work, really needed more than 3 days off this time around.

Crazy day at work. Had 2 meetings done by 930. Finally got to check email and found we hd 4 breakdowns to figure out. 3 were fixed before we left. Last one will be first thing we do tomorrow. Then gotta tear a station down and relocate it about 100 yards. Then start planning 2 other nig jobs thats coming up.
Got home and probably made Lady Locust happy, ran the damn weedeater for an hour and a half. It been raining so much it had grown almost knee high in 2 weeks. No way to mow that. Ugh
Finally got to sit on the porch and enjoy some quite time with the wifebandba cigar

We have company coming in a couple of weeks it’s a cousin of mine his wife and 2 sons. They come every couple of years and stay in the apartment we built in my shop. We built the little place so our son could have a little apartment of his own when he graduates. No one had stayed in the place for the last couple of years so it needed a good deep cleaning. We worked on cleaning it up and doing laundry and such all day.

Changing subject. Did your son go to FFA state convention? Always highlight for my girls to go.

A quick funny: I’ve always disliked weedeating also. When we were up the mountain, it was an acre so lots of yard and mowing. I finally got grass pulled enough that it quit growing in the 4” around the pump house so I could mow it easily and it was clean and done. Hubby noticed there was no grass growing around it and thought it was dying so seeded without telling me 🤦‍♀️
