My guts are giving me crap and my back is out.
Happy B-day anyway USA!
I've been thinking about you and the problems you have with your guts, as you put it. I wonder if you have an allergy to something? I was thinking you might have celiac, but you eat things like ramen with no problem, don't you?

the ‘my pillow’ people were having a sale on everything last week. I bought a couple sets of sheets and 2 new pillows. Colors weren’t great, just what was left of the production run. Quality is good so they’ll do, 1/2 of regular price.
A friend of mine ordered from the My Pillow people a few years ago. I do not know the details, but by the time she was done, she was livid and told everyone not to do any business with them. I wish I knew more about what happened, but I think customer service is not good with them. I hope you had better luck than she did.

Chugging Benadryl helped.
I have read that Benadryl is something we should have with us when we go out hiking. The story was specifically for rattlesnake bites, but I am not out where they are typically seen. But I do have some in my first aid kit in my car.

Here's a thought/question. If baking soda is used for relief of stings, I wonder about mixing some up with water and drinking a little after some encounter with venom. Of course, it would take a little while, but I wonder. I'll research when I get back from a visit to the canine play place.

I've ordered from them twice with never an issue. Great service and good products

I've dealt with their customer service 3 different times over the years. They are great, very helpful. The problem is their website, a bad design that's confusing. It's not intuitive and there aren't explanations/help to the process.

Specifically they use tv promo codes for sales. There are rules concerning use of the codes that are different for different items. The rules for sheets are different than pillows, different for towels. The rules get applied to your order automatically, without explanation. The result is confusing, the larger the order the more confusion.

A quiet day is planned here, we'll see.

we have some that are probably 2 ft diameter, but someone else would have to cut them since they are either next to a building or electric line
I'd say those are large enough for veneer, not sure. Would for sure make some beautiful lumber. Using a woodmizer or bandsaw mill there would be a lot of board feet in a 2' tree

I put up my tp holder. One of the screws started to strip and got stuck when I was testing to see if it would go in (without the bracket on). I was trying to figure out what to do until it hit me that the screw head could fit where the driver fit in the drill. Took the driver out, put the mouth of the drill over the screw head, tightened, and backed the screw out. Worked for getting it driven partway in enough to use the manual screwdriver the rest of the way.

I'm about to see if I can hang the towel bar.

Have I been crying about all of these dogs? Yes! I wish they lived longer lives!

There's an attrition rate in life, with animals as well as humans. I miss the cats who've disappeared in recent years---Bear, Phoenix, Z-Girl---and little Jingle Bell, who was only 16 months old when she was accidentally poisoned. I had to watch Jingles die in my bathtub in Show Low, and it was heartbreaking... such a wicked waste of youth and vitality. 😢

At least that one dog had 15 years, not a bad run for a dog. All you can do is try your hardest to look after pets, but there are times when bad things happen and ya lose some animals. Just the way it is in this mean ol' world. Sometimes I'd like to kick the world in the teeth for all the losses I've endured, human and animal losses. 😡

I suppose it's just one more reason to live life to the fullest every day, as ya never know when your turn might arrive... I'm one of those "party people" you mentioned in your post: I reckon I'll have some fun in this world before I go to my grave. I try to style out my pets too, but the high desert can be hard on small domestic animals... 🙁

Some folks keep their pets indoors, but mine have to run free and take their chances in this mean ol' world, same way I do. Z-Girl was only about a year old before she disappeared, but she lived a good life up until that point. And maybe she's still alive, I may never know... but I still miss her! Phoenix, Bear & Jingle Bell too! And Sage, my best cat ever! 😺

Sage disappeared in Benson, he was around 18 years old at the time... which is old for a cat. Just never showed up one morning, and months later I found a cat skeleton under the home, but it seemed to be the wrong size, like maybe it was some other cat. I'll never know for sure... but Sage lived a good life while he was with me. 🙂

Anyway, it's Sunday and I'm gonna take it easy today, I'll try to finish the stupid home rehab work this coming week, we have hot weather all week but at least there's rain in the forecast nearly every day. We had a little more rain last night, but no good solid downpour yet to really soak the ground, ya know? I'm hoping that happens this week... 🙄

Drinking coffee and watching the critters around the house this morning. I see a lot of meals there in the fall. 😉

Have almost 20 lbs of apricots on the dehydrator. Planted some beet seeds where I pulled the arugula that had gone to seed. Have had water going for 2 days. Currently, 93* - tomorrow supposed to be 102* so want everything will watered.
Now getting canner put away from last batch of green beans and kitchen cleaned up from all this food. Also, have blueberries to take care of.
How do you manage with all that heat? It might get up to 80 degs here, which is too hot for me. I need to go down tomorrow and buy a couple batteries. We'll probably stop on the river and play in the water.

Our installation project turned into a giant wreck yesterday. The inexperienced operators that the contractor company sent us, nearly ruined everything. One of their big crawlers slid down the slope and got stuck. Another broke down right off the bat and had to get yanked out of line with chains. Then it took them nearly 4 hours to slide the switch 400 yards down the tracks into position. That is the simplest way possible to move a pre-built switch - you just lay it on top of the tracks and drag it. There's very little resistance and very little chance of breaking anything. But I guess we couldn't accomplish it yesterday. Then at the end of the day One of our own guys had a big chain dangling off the back of his crawler and when he was crawling across the track it hooked one of the rails. The machine pulled the tracks four inches out of the ground! At this point our foreman lost it and started reaming everyone out on the radio. It was harsh enough that at least one of the contractor crawler operators walked off and quit. So then we were short handed. When it was all said and done, it was after 6pm and we had worked 14 hours. I'm getting too old for that kind of thing.

So today, we are tearing apart everything we ripped out of the tracks during the last two days. Pulling spikes, knocking off anchors, sorting all the scrap steel and old scrap ties into piles for a pickup crew to come get. It's a lot of hand work but it's also pretty mindless, low stress work. Tomorrow will be more of the same, and then on Tuesday we will pack up our equipment and move three hours south to Polo, Missouri...

Worked on my truck, 02silverado. I've dreaded these repairs for months. I can rebuild an engine or swap a transmission but body work… not so much. Nightmares every time I’ve tried. This week I replaced a rear door handle and the center console lid. Planned on a day for each given my record.

They had to be the 2 easiest repairs I’ve ever made to a vehicle. In both cases it took longer to gather the needed tools than do the repair. There were videos for both on the net, simple, no speaking was necessary. Evidently they are high failure items so parts were cheap and readily available.

Now I have a new console lid $40, and a new door handle. $17 for both left and right handles but I only needed one. Easy peasy!

Took my side by side up to the shop on Friday for some repairs. The mechanic called yesterday and said it needed a new CV shaft, or something like that. $650 total.
I got the materials ordered for the new roof over the back deck. I'm also going to extend the deck 8'×36'. That would make the deck 18'×36' total. Today I started building a deck under the roof at the chicken coop. Got it all framed and ready for the 2"×8" deck boards. The wife wanted a flat surface for the chicken water.

I handle the heat far better than Hubby, and he handles the cold far better than I do. We usually only have a week or two of the scorcher stuff, but the past year or so have been exceptional. It's supposed to drop 12* as far as a high for tomorrow, then hot again next weekend. We do live next to water also so will probably start making our way down there in the evenings to check on the blackberries - from in the water 😋

We have company coming in a couple of weeks it’s a cousin of mine his wife and 2 sons. They come every couple of years and stay in the apartment we built in my shop. We built the little place so our son could have a little apartment of his own when he graduates. No one had stayed in the place for the last couple of years so it needed a good deep cleaning. We worked on cleaning it up and doing laundry and such all day.

Aerindel, that is a long time for a pump to keep working. I hope you can get it fixed. New pumps are so expensive.

Spike, that sounds like a nightmare. It always sucks when incompetent people screw things up.

Peanut, the replacements look great!

Mountaintrapper- probably a CV axle. I had to replace one of mine bc the Honda dealership broke it when replacing a wheelbearing. Good luck with the deck and the roof!

Snappy, pinto beans and ham sounds good!

Ladylocust, I hope your blackberries are doing well. Mine are all dried up- well, the berries are. The thorny plants are still there.

Hashbrown, that apartment looks awesome! I love the style of the doors and really loe the doors on the wall cabinets in the kitchen.

Is the toilet up on some kind of riser to make it higher? Or is that just the design?

Backpacker, I'm glad today went better and hope you enjoyed the cigar.

My plans for a nap were thwarted. First Mom wanted water, then she wanted me to cook for her. She got rotisserie chicken and mashed potatoes. I had to bring in all 5 cases of water but fortunately it wasn't so hot out there. Its raining now.

I'm trying to think of the best plan to clear up the stuff off the floor in my bathroom. I also want to get a robe hook-- found which one I want but need to figure out where to put it. I plan to use it for the towel wrap thingy I wear out of the bathroom while drying off.

Still playing with apricots, dug more spuds, did more laundry, dishes, scrubbed bathroom, took a nap.
I was up quite a bit last night coughing - something sinusy going on
BIL is here so he and Hubby are picking more green beans while sampling a beer or two 😂
Later since I didn’t hit the post button- think Pearl is contagious 🤣
Had Alaskan halibut and homemade chips and Hubby had a few poppers since we are starting to get a few peppers 🌶️

I placed my order on line and it was simple and it arrived when expected. All I know is what I encountered, but I don't doubt what your friend experienced. Was it on the phone, and did the person speak American English or another form of English?

I am very glad to hear this. This weekend I helped my son clean up and do some work on my 2002 Avalanche. What a difference a lot of soap and water can make in appearance. But the center console lid is also in need of replacement so I am happy to hear it is easy and affordable.
Do you have a link to the supplier you purchased from?

There are two ways to go. Dorman makes an oem replacement. I saw it priced for $105 at several retailers including the amerzit.

Most of the same retailers also sell a no name brand for $40. I went with the cheap one figuring if it didn't work... hey, I'm only out $40.

But it seems as sturdy as the original. If it lasts another 5yrs... I intended to buy a new truck but covid happened. Guess I'll be driving the 02 for a while so i thought I should fix a few things. Just put a on set of 70K michelins, have new o2 sensors, plugs and wires in a box...

Question... does your truck have lights below the front bumper? Both mine are broken badly, not even sure what to call them. I searched fog lights for a silverado but didn't find anything close, not even the same shape. Maybe have a different name or assembly? Chevys and Sierras had a dozen possible front end configurations.

Different subject, I saw some telescoping side mirrors for towing. I've never liked the stock mirrors on this truck. Ever use those?
