What's everybody doing today?

Already walked.
Have a 3 hour obligation this morning.
Stop at Church and check to see if typewriter works.
Home to start bread to make tomorrow.

DH's dad is home on hospice. They give him one or two weeks.

Those non digestible eggs make snakes very cranky especially if they can’t get out through the wire they came in coop by. I used golf balls in my nesting boxes. If I caught snake and killed it I made sure I got golf balls back. I also found golf balls everywhere around where poor old egg stealers died of a belly ache

I don’t know how it will play out but this one is in the hollar where I put things I think might stink.

Funny, I use golf balls too. One side of my chicken pen is a pole barn. I'd stack 30 rolls of hay in there every summer.

As I fed the hay in winter I'd sometimes find snake skeletons underneath the hay. And find my missing golf balls! I'd clean them off and reuse them.

Finished watering, now I'm just relaxing before getting cleaned up and tackling some home rehab work... I only have about two hours of caulking & painting to do in the kitchen, but I'd like to get it done so I no longer have to think about it. Once it's done, I can take my time while decorating it... no hurry there, as I have the next two months to do it.

Otherwise, I'm staying on the property, got everything I need right now... won't have to go to town for several days. I'm hoping for rain later, it's in the forecast but we haven't had a good downpour in 4 or 5 months. Some plants in my vegetable garden have bitten the dust, too hot and dry for 'em... lack of rain is annoying in so-called 'monsoon season.'

If I ever had the energy to deal with chickens again I'd try the golf ball thing. Wish I could go back in time and try that.
Today I've been resting-- aside from cleaning my toilet.
I did some shoulder exercises but need to do more and I need to start doing some cleaning. Also need to swing by the post office before it closes so I need to get my fat butt out the door.

After riding in a truck for 6+ hours, unloading said truck, putting away all the unloaded supplies, i’m enjoying a cool breeze looking at the St. Lawrence River.

When the wife wasn't home by 1 PM for lunch, I ate 1/4 of the pie she had made for me yesterday.

Wife came home and change clothes before leaving to pickup her mom. Wife will be coming home around 8:30 PM tonight.

For supper I had a Root Beer, chips and another 1/4 piece of pie.

Picked up mail. Had several packages bc of Prime day from Amazon. The large one with my tools was too big to carry with the other packages and a nice gentleman offered to help me and carried it to the truck for me while I lugged the others.

I'm cooling off then will need to do some laundry and take a shower.

Bunch of crap at work, just like the rest of the week. Had OT scheduled for this weekend and approved by the division director (Dont ask). Around 1pm she sends me a text that all OT is cancelled. WTH!!!!!!!!! Appreantly a Subcontractor screwed up and got hurt.. So we pay the price. Finally said the heck with it and left at 2. Got some stuff I had ordered including a nice hardback copy of Tolkien's Silmarillion and my new DeWalt 1/2" impact driver. At 1400 ft lbs of torque I think it'll do the job. And it weighs a ton.
Fixin to go out and pick produce.

Well, I had a weird occurrence today, I was all set to tackle the remaining home rehab work in the kitchen when my forearm acted up, like I'd pulled a muscle or ripped a tendon or something... and of course it happened for no apparent reason, as these things do at my age. I didn't wanna aggravate it any further, so I postponed the rehab work... maybe tomorrow will be my lucky day, lol. The forearm feels okay right now, dunno what the heck was wrong with it, but it was sore for a few hours. Maybe I'll put some Tiger Balm on it before I go water the yard this evening...

Otherwise, I've had a nice quiet day, just hangin' out with the cats here at the ol' hacienda... I'm having a cold beer right now, might squeeze in one or two more before it's time to water, lol. Rain in the forecast but it just won't fall here, which is kinda frustrating... seeing all those clouds stacked up over the nearby mountains, but nary a drop falls here. Aarrrrrgh!!! Oh, well, I chose to live here, so I'll quit my b!tchin', lol... it's not a bad place to live, it just needs more rainfall, yeah? I like my rural setting, it's peaceful and quiet here most of the time... could be worse, I reckon.

but the outside of the book was done in black fabric and each book had a different color on them but same design.
Almost exactly like this, mine looked blacker. Metallic coloring was pretty cool looking. Had them since 8th grade. LOL

Got the big milkhouse cage cleaned out that the (now) butchered turkeys were in. Put in the nine young slate turkeys, little granddaughter got them caught and moved. She cleaned out the kennels they were in. And I went to work on the rabbit cages. Little granddaughter's mom called and said she was going in to in patient rehab for 3 weeks, then they'll get her settled with disability checks, and she'll also get medical care. Hope she does it ok. Living on the streets in your early 50's, pushing a stroller (instead of a shopping cart), just doesn't cut it. Got one guest room cleaned and ready to go again, and the upstairs bathroom. Mom was released from the hospital today, back to the manor. The doc was talking about the possibility of palliative care, and asked me to consider it. Anyone have experience with it?

So Jake bought this Ruger Charger 10/22 today. He was sighting it in and wanted me to come shoot it. I guess some how when I shot it I got my finger in front of the barrel of the short pos and shot myself in the index finger. I just got home from the hospital and am scheduled to have the finger removed next Monday.

That has to hurt. Nearly blew a foot off clearing a jammed 1911 not too long ago. Really raised my awareness for gun safety , this just reinforces it. Prayers going up.

That's terrible, Hashbrown. Ugh. There's a number of people in our community missing a finger, part of a finger, or some toes, but due to farm machinery accidents. Uncle Melvin, he's almost 100, only has two toes on one of his feet. Takes a bit of practice to do what you do after losing a finger. Sorry for you.

@hashbrown sorry to hear this. Like @Patchouli I’m wondering why it has to be the whole finger, also why wait until Monday.

Looks to be your left hand so hopefully won’t impact your normal activities too much. Plus, you’ll only have to curl under 2 fingers when flipping the bird.

on a serious note, take care of that. Last thing you’ll need is an infection.

So sorry Hashbrown , this sucks! Hope you can function ok without that finger. My dad is missing one ( construction accident) and it never seemed to bother him much but I can't remember which one

Wingnut: I have never lived anywhere where it didn't rain for months. I can't even imagine that. I think maybe after a month of no rain I would miss the rain even if I complain about ours here all the time.

We were going to spray more weeds today but guess what, it is supposed to RAIN later today. So not. Today is meat and tomato day on my diet. So far I am only down 5 lbs. I haven't done this diet in years but it used to make me loose more faster. Oh well, part of being a post menopause woman I suppose

Not much sleep last night, but will walk in a few minutes.
About the only thing on a list for today is to give one pup a bath.
