Up at 3 am. Sigh
Started salt rising bread again last night and actually got it to foam. Just put it in the oven.
Church will be next.
Walk dogs if it isn't raining.
Visit BIL. Just found out he broke 3 ribs about a week ago and may be getting pneumonia again. Haven't heard from FIL with hospice today.
Will make stuffed chicken breasts when we get home.
That's all. I'm dizzy and nauseas which are 2 big signs to me that my stone may move soon.

So Jake bought this Ruger Charger 10/22 today. He was sighting it in and wanted me to come shoot it. I guess some how when I shot it I got my finger in front of the barrel of the short pos and shot myself in the index finger. I just got home from the hospital and am scheduled to have the finger removed next Monday.

Sorry to hear this. Husband lost middle finger at knuckle closest to his right hand when he was two so really never missed it. As an adult it would be a challenge. I hope all goes smoothly for you. My brother in law tried a quick draw with a pistol and got hung on shirt. Shot through his wrist requiring surgery. Lots of rehab after. He was 18-19 at the time

I didn’t do anything yesterday, had a lot of pain. The pain pills just couldn’t quite take care of it. Alexandra went to town and got me some gummies from the dispensary. I didn’t know my ass from a hole in the ground after I took those but I was pain free. This morning the pain is much better.

Just got done taking care of the animals, ruined the milk today. I dropped the bucket in the sink when I was trying to filter it. Thankfully it didn't go on the floor but now we are out of milk till tomorrow, which is ok. Finished weeding the onions , started that yesterday. They are about ready but I want to plant broccoli there next so the weeds need to go

Day 6 of the diet, lost 5 pounds so far still but oh well better than nothing. Cheating a little today, having some vanille cappucino coffee ( 130 cal)
Lunch will be sushi which is not exactly on the diet but close enough
Last day tomorrow : rice, veggies and fruit, no meat

Plan on spraying weeds in the pasture this afternoon if the weather holds up and the grass dries. It poured again last night.

Basically a blown off day. Did the dishes and made a nice breakfast. Found a nice redipe for individual portions of sausage gravy. Put that on toast, and fried a couple of eggs. Time for a nap.

Meeting a friend at the Cigar Box around noon. We will watch the Golf tournament, and solve all the problems of the world. Not sure what brand I will smoke, but I know it will be good.

This last week was a week from hell. Had my daughter and two crumb catchers stay with us all week (5 and 10 years old), while we prepared for my sister in law's funeral. Got to see my ex wife....yep, still a WITCH, with a Capitol B! Since my grandson's birthday is next week, all he wanted was some new school clothes. He asked me to take him to Target, but I won't enter that WOKE store, so I asked him if he would rather go into Tilly's Clothing Store. He said "Sure" and upon walking inside, he was blown away with all the cool clothes. I got his 5 tee shirts, shorts, pants and chonies. He was very excited. I then took him to "Panera" for a lunch, just me and him. Well, the family left for Texas yesterday morning, so I spent the day deflating blow up beds, cleaning, dusting, mowing, and I now have my house back! Now, all I need is for the temperature to dip from 103 degrees, so I can enjoy life!

Hashbrown, when I had my umbilical hernia surgery in '98, the Big Pharma pain pills (Percosets?) didn't help at all, I went through the whole bottle in no time and they still didn't work, pfffffft. The doctor got all gripped because I went through 'em so fast, and I told him, "Next time give me something that works!" The weed my friend dropped off at the house did a way better job at controlling the pain. I didn't think to mention those edibles to ya earlier, to me they're all in the same category, lol. At least you have something to help with the pain... I'm not a fan of Big Pharma and I won't use ANY of their products unless there's absolutely no other option. 😒

Anyway, I'm riding out another scorcher here today, with no rain in the forecast until Wednesday, and that only a 20% chance, pffffft. This p!ss-ant rain we've been getting isn't enough to get the ground wet, and it's frustrating to see so many plants and trees struggling & dying in the heat & dryness. I'm beginning to wish I'd never left the White Mountains of Arizona... meh, this home may not be permanent either, if this drought keeps up into next year I might just flip the place and try my luck elsewhere. I wanna be where I can grow stuff, not just watch it die... I reckon I'm in a foul mood this morning, despite plenty of sleep last night. This drought really sucks.

Oh, @hashbrown those are THC chewies! Zoomed in on my phone, heheh. Glad ya got that extra help to get ya through the night. Had no idea such things were available.
I like that little warning down near the bottom of the bag.
(See post #46,623)
I’m telling you it damn sure helped but there’s no way I’d take them for recreation. I was as high as a Georgia pine! It took the edge off but I just never liked the feeling.

Man I need that same surgery! Was it pretty rough?

You mean the umbilical hernia surgery? It was rough for me, but I'm sensitive in that area... I was always abnormally ticklish as a youngster, and as an adult I still am, though I can take a punch to the stomach pretty well, lol. But when the doctor cut into that area and installed some sorta plastic mesh for support, it felt like hell. Funny thing, when he went to remove the long staples 10-14 days later, I was squirming all over the place... he told me, "Infants have this procedure done!" My reply was: "Better than being shanked in the gut at 35!" This was the best hernia specialist in San Diego County, you should've seen the look on his face as he reared back & cried: "SHANKED IN THE GUT?!?" 🤣

Normally, I have a very high pain threshold, but that's an area where I'm very sensitive for whatever reason, dunno why... I'm just glad the surgery was done, as it felt like somebody was draggin' a coat hanger through my belly button. :(

I was laid up for 2-3 weeks after the surgery, and I was the only one home at the ol' hacienda in Coronado. Luckily, some friends dropped by every so often and made sure I didn't lack for anything. I still remember lying on a futon on the floor with my gut hurting like hell... those pain pills the doctor gave me were worthless. I've never liked Big Pharma cr@p, it just doesn't seem to agree with my system. If you go ahead and get the surgery done, be sure to have a backup plan in effect for pain management, maybe stock some of those edibles and have your gal & kid check on ya every so often. I didn't like moving around much after the surgery, I kept water & p!$$ jugs right by my futon. 😒

Oh, yeah, I should add that I had a perfectly good bed nearby, but the futon felt more comfortable on the floor. It had something to do with the surgery, I can't quite remember why I chose the futon & carpeted floor instead of the rack... 🤔

I really need to get it done but the Dr. put it on the back burner with all of the other problems I’ve had.

All I can say is that you'll be glad when it's all done and you've recovered... I still have the mesh in my abdominal wall, it's doing a fine job and will outlast me, no doubt. Also, I may have experienced more pain than most folks do after the surgery, due to my extreme sensitivity in that area... you may not have anywhere near as much trouble. 😒

OW! Crap bro, that hella sucks! I was thinking before I scrolled down:
That thing needs a Magpul brace, and there you are, maimed for life! :(

It needed a few tweaks for sure! was that a factory job? they short stroked any idea of safety on it, even a foregrip might have prevented this mess. it's almost identical to my backpacking setup concept wise except I used a cheapo ram-line stock and Aimpoint.
I however did not SBR, if I had, I'd keep the can on it. how hard would it have been to put 3" more of a forend and a brace out there? sue em.

I’m not sure if that’s the way the come from the factory

Doing laundry and waiting for my daughter to get off work so I visit with her for a bit before she leaves with her mom. She has a college visit at the University of Iowa tomorrow and they are going over there tonight and getting a hotel. They don't want to make the 2 hour drive in the morning.

I'm not sure how I feel about her considering the U of Iowa. On one hand, they have a fantastic program for her preferred major. On the other, U of Iowa is one of the wokest, most liberal, disgusting POS places in the country. College tends to set the course for one's life, for good or bad, and U of I turns out whiny worthless liberal pukebags at an alarming rate. Plus it is the Doctor/Lawyer college for our state, where everyone else is looked down on. I'd much rather she considers Iowa State. ISU has its own liberal problems, but it is the Agriculture/Engineering/Veterinary Medicine college that turns out people who actually contribute to society...

Mo, its good to see you back!
Hashbrown, I'm glad the pain is better and hope it stays that way.
Havasu, I hope your week gets better. Funerals suck and having to deal with people you don't get along with can make it worse (obviously).

I'm trying to motivate myself to get up and do laundry but my back is stiff and I'm under a pile of cats. I need to figure out where I put my laundry hamper.

Then I need to work on cleaning my bathroom more. Once I'm done with laundry and cleaning its showertime. So nice to be able to take showers when I want and not have to go over to my friend's house.

This was yesterday..one of the wild hens showed up to rest in the heat under the apple tree with her brand new babies.
I was watering and spooked her..babies scattered about. Actually that happened friday early evening.
She finally left but one baby got left behind. I heard it crying just before dark..somehow it made it over to the barn..way over n mom left hours ago.
So..of course I caught it . I put it up on a warm pad overnight transported it to a lady friend who likes turkeys as much as I do.
I gave her some eggs to hatch and a few days ago they all hatched..so now the wild chick joined the clutch Saturday.
It would have been fun to raise it..but I've no small chicks and not alot of time. It's best off with her clutch.
Momma turkey is back today under a different apple tree up on the hill.
I left out food and water for her n her chicks under my apple tree. Hopefully she finds it soon..its hot here

Made some gallon slow watering jugs for my squash plants..
Going to see how these work or if they work better than the others I made just wi th h pin holes..these have gotten twine at the bottom. The idea is to slow drip the water..I made a small hole, shoved twine with a small knot into it n then tied another know on the outside n.v shoved it halfway into the hole n then another knot after with the runner string sticking out.
Small holes on top so the jug doesnt implode on itself. Flow can be kinda controlled with the cap..tight cap = low flow. Loose or no cap n too much flow.
Let's see how they work..

We have company coming tomorrow for a week. We have been cleaning and finishing projects today. There were some shelves by the entrance of our kitchen that I never liked, I tore them out and replaced them with a piece of Rain glass. Today I hung the pictures and added back lighting. I had to finish it with one hand. 🤣🤣🤣

I have a resident wild turkey mom, she still has 5 of her 7 babies. They are almost as big as she is now! On the really hot days they hang out in a sandy area just inside the woods. It's been neat watching them!

Stayed over at a friends house last night because we were out playing pool late. Got home turned around and hitched trailer to go pick up a couple little heifers for my dad, went my the feed store for starter for them then the grocery store to grab a few things. Got home and got heifers unloaded. Have water running to the big trough while I eat for the first time since yesterday and then I'll go back out to feed and do all the chores and such. After all that it's inside to work on schoolwork until midnight.

Nice frame. Sorry to hear about your finger. I can relate to some extent.

When I was remodeling our kitchen ...

Warning graphic narative...

I was hanging sheetrock using a 6 foot ruler and a razor knife to cut a sheet to size. The knife caught a burr on the straight edge and in an instant sliced the side of my thumb clean off. I used duct tape to hold a wad of paper towel over so I wasn't bleeding on everything.

Finished hanging the sheetrock one thumb down. Latter I took the duct tape off and got my first good look at it. Seeing the bone freaked me out and I went in to mild shock. My sister was walking past the door of the bathroom and insisted I was going to the ER. Learned what an evultion was and what getting a wound cauterized was like.

I can still see the mark of the on that ruler and where my thumb was. To this day I can not watch someone using a razor knife in an unsafe manner without cringing.

Behave

Ben
