You mean the umbilical hernia surgery? It was rough for me, but I'm sensitive in that area... I was always abnormally ticklish as a youngster, and as an adult I still am, though I can take a punch to the stomach pretty well, lol. But when the doctor cut into that area and installed some sorta plastic mesh for support, it felt like hell. Funny thing, when he went to remove the long staples 10-14 days later, I was squirming all over the place... he told me, "Infants have this procedure done!" My reply was: "Better than being shanked in the gut at 35!" This was the best hernia specialist in San Diego County, you should've seen his face as he reared back and cried: "SHANKED IN THE GUT?!?"
Normally, I have a very high pain threshold, but that's an area where I'm very sensitive for whatever reason, dunno why... I'm just glad the surgery was done, as it felt like somebody was draggin' a coat hanger through my belly button.
Edit: I was laid up for 2-3 weeks after the surgery, and I was the only one home at the ol' hacienda in Coronado. Luckily, some friends dropped by every so often and made sure I didn't lack for anything. I still remember lying on a futon on the floor with my gut hurting like hell... those pain pills the doctor gave me were worthless. I've never liked Big Pharma cr@p, it just doesn't seem to agree with my system. If you go ahead and get the surgery done, be sure to have a backup plan in effect for pain management, maybe stock some of those edibles and have your gal & kid check on ya every so often. I didn't like moving around much after the surgery, I kept water & p!$$ jugs right by my futon.
Oh, yeah, I should add that I had a perfectly good bed nearby, but the futon felt more comfortable on the floor. It had something to do with the surgery, I can't quite remember why I chose the futon & carpeted floor instead of the rack...
