Ate a late meal last night (big ol' steak sandwich), then I couldn't get to sleep... I was all powered up by that sammy, and wide awake, lol. Didn't actually drop off until 0300, which left me short on sleep this morning. When it comes to this last bit of home rehab work in the kitchen, I'm beginning to think there's a bad planetary alignment this week, so I'm putting off the home rehab until next week, that way I'm still on schedule, lol. Ain't it grand, being the boss? I actually DO wanna get this last bit of rehab work done so I can kick back and enjoy the rest of my summer, but it just does NOT seem to be happening this week, and I wanna be in the mood to do it when I tackle it, I don't want some half-@$$ed job done, lol. So next week it is! ;)

Otherwise, I finished watering in the yard, I'm hoping to see some actual rain today with a 50% chance in the forecast, but it's still a coin toss where the odds are concerned. Maybe I'll luck out this time... but I'm not holding my breath. What I AM doing is having a cold beer, lol... just one before I make some sort of breakfast. May read a book later or watch a movie, dunno which yet. Besides routine household chores, everything else is on hold due to the heat, it's already cooking out there... some plants in my yard are toast, they got cooked by the sun and are no longer making it, but others are still alive so I'm focusing upon them. The dead stuff can go back to the soil, or get cleaned up later and thrown in the trash bin. [Sob!] :(

Dang Hashbrown that looks like it hurts. Sorry that happened.
More rain today, some thunderstorms yesterday and had a small twister go through to the east of me, the corn looks to be a total loss, you can see the circular wind patterns in the smashed and broken stalks. Localized to a fairly small area, so hopefully it didn't wipe out someone's complete crop. Every house in town has shredded leaves plastered to the sides and roof like some sort of giant salad shooter flew over.
The home purchase I'm working on has to go through now - I just packed my winter jacket and boots. Have a young guy coming tomorrow to help start hauling stuff out of the basement.

So Jake bought this Ruger Charger 10/22 today. He was sighting it in and wanted me to come shoot it. I guess some how when I shot it I got my finger in front of the barrel of the short pos and shot myself in the index finger. I just got home from the hospital and am scheduled to have the finger removed next Monday.

They will REMOVE THE FINGER????

Hey ya'll,
I am finally back on the site after trying for some time.
Sitting on the front porch enjoying a smoke.
Catching up on forums.
While I wait for my mechanic to swing by.
Service engine light came on when it was dang hot.
Haven't left home since last Wednesday.
But unfortnately I have to go back to work on Monday.
Been making salsa, mild(kid friendly) medium(not kid friendly) and instant break out in sweat(my kind) of salsa.

Temp is 101* Hubby is smoking some meat he’s had marinating for a few days then will slice it for jerky. He picked and I cleaned and canned another canner of green beans plus a bag of fresh to take over to the neighbors once it cools off. I pulled a mountain of weeds today and two mountains yesterday. Gardens are looking better but by about 10-11 AM, it’s so hot I need a shower. Got carrots seeded and watered in.
We walked down to the river to check on the blackberries. We will go back down tomorrow with our baskets 😊
I have the dehydrator filled up with most of another box of apricots 🤤

Youngest niece is in Canada fighting fires. Here are a couple pix. (She was guiding a chopper in). Thought y’all might like to see.

Saw one neighbor today with his arm in a sling, like maybe he broke it... kinda weird, all the bad news and injuries lately! Usually a rash of bad incidents will occur around either equinox, when the balance of light shifts from one hemisphere to another, but we're in mid-July. Maybe there IS a bad planetary alignment, aye? Probably why I didn't get the kitchen home rehab work done, lol. Meh, no worries, it's days are numbered. Had a little rain, just a piddly amount, so much for the 50% chance... of squat. Gonna read a book tonight, might pick up ROBINSON CRUSOE again, the last Western I tried wasn't so hot, lol. It was written by some chumpish author who couldn't tell one end of a horse from the other...

I had other thoughts but holy crap, Hashbrown, I am so sorry that happened! Sending virtual hugs your way. I hope they don't have to take the entire finger. I also hope it doesn't hurt too much. That really really sucks!

I went to the post office to get some mail. My robe hook arrived and I've mostly assembled it. Need to figure out exactly what height I want it at and then mount the bracket. I located the nearest stud by pressing on the wall panel and seeing where it flexed as well as tapping to hear where it sounded/felt hollow vs solid. I then measured from an obvious stud (where panels are nailed) and it's ~14" from that stud. Nothing is spaced regularly in this house.

I popped in to Walmart and got 2 rotisserie chickens to dissect. Got some thigh meat for Mom to eat tonight. Also worked on keeping my e-mail inbox cleared.

Mowed around the beds again, then set up the drip system. It was over 90 and very humid so I parked it in a chair under a big popular tree in some good shade. Noticed it was getting dark. Before I could get the mower put up and shop locked, and my chair to the basement it started pouring down. I got soaked. LOL. We got over an inch of rain in less than an hour.
Spent some time cleaning out the basement

You get over to Morgan"s and start cleaning  that basement 😮😉😮

We are on our way to church today as a family. Then we will go to the flea market to see if there are any more turkeys for sale. The first thing that we are going to do is make sure the animals have enough food and water. After that, we are going to sit down as a family for dinner and take some time to talk about our day.

Deciding if I am going to clean my building today or early in the morning. Big batch of rain and storms almost here! Everybody is fed. Did a bunch of laundry earlier, need to get it all put away. Hubby is going to help one of our elderly friends, she hit a post in Walgreens parking lot and the car door won't shut right. If the rain fizzles out I may just ride to town with him. Just playing it all by ear right now!!

LadyLocust,

Can you say where? Tell her, thank you, for me.
NW Alberta. During the school year, she works at an airport and guides etc (I don’t know job names) so she was fighting fires of course but also guiding choppers. It is/was an 18 day stint. Not sure if she’s back or just had a break with service. They keep some crazy hours.
