I have been to the Walmart nearest to @Wingnut - I can confirm that the parking lot there needs "Enter at your own risk" signs.

I've been busy with work for a few days. I'm in north Missouri and it's hotter than blazes here. The bugs are bad too. After work, I just want to eat, shower, and sleep so my forum time has been pretty minimal.

I requested vacation today. I want to take my daughter to Okiboji in August. Neither of us has ever been there. After that I want to take her to the Mega Mall on the south side of the Twin Cities. After all, what 17 year old girl wouldn't want to go to a giant mall with a sea life aquarium in it?😁
Spikedriver,
Are you in my neck of the woods again?

Hey All,
Been busy canning. 12 pints of pickled beets,12 pints of green beans,(6 pints seasoning, pat of butter),(6 pints with ham, onion, garlic, green beans). Got 3 quarts of green beans in the canner now. Those will go to my sons houses for Thanksgiving and Christmas. Still going to do 12 half pints of dilly beans.Just the 3 quarts out of canner and at least 7 half pints of dilly beans are in now., Got one load of laundry in dryer, one load in the washer, still got one load to do.
Bathroom is cleaned, floors will be dusted today. Kitchen floors will be scrubbed.
Have several Doctors appointments this week.
Been in the hospital several times blood pressure has spiked. Then drop real low.
Supposed to release stress, told the Doctor to have bail money because I was about to loose my sh** with my youngest daughter-in-law, Doctor looked concerned not for me but for her.
Best revenge where she is concerned is to ignore her.
So I taught her son(age 10) how to think and make fly traps.
So since I taught him how to make them: his great grandfather's house now has 6. His grandfather's house has 8, His grandmother's apartment has 4, And my son's house has 12, not he needs them but the boy like to make them.
They're in garage, both bathrooms,3 in the kitchen, several in the back yard, 3 in the basement. All these fly traps will need to be emptied soon, Or just tossed so he can make more to his heart content.
I can't wait to teach him how whittle. I'm sure there will be wood shavings everywhere he goes.
Ahh, the joy of your green beans pinging.,

Enjoying this slightly cooler weather... forecast high today is only 95* F. Watermelon plants seem to be the most drought-resistant plants in my garden, I still have plenty of those in the yard. Some squash are doing okay, everything else is taking a beating INCLUDING the weed plants, which is weird, since they're usually the hardiest plants, lol. Guess I'm not having much luck in the weed department this season, the ongoing drought & heat have been too brutal, but I still have a few plants out there, so I'll keep watering and hope for the best. 😒

Otherwise, I'm not sure what I'm gonna do today... I may work on the kitchen, I may just blow it off and do it later, lol. I was gonna go for a check ride on the bike this morning, but that ol' sun started beating down something fierce, and I just wanted to get indoors, to heck with the ride, lol. There'll be time to work on the bike later, once this summer heat is over and done. Maybe it's an age-related thing, but spring & fall are now my favorite seasons---they are nice here! I could skip summer and never miss it, while winters here are pretty mild.

Meh, this heat won't last forever, and neither will the bugs... the wasps seem to have toned down a bit, we have an uneasy truce in place, lol. Might be some hornets in the mix too, hard to tell with some of 'em. I'm limiting my watering sessions to early morning & late afternoon or evening (sometimes after dark) just to avoid the stupid winged varmints. I'm also pulling daily inspections of the eaves of my home (like a walkaround inspection in trucking) to make sure the blasted varmints aren't trying to set up shop again... I don't need the aggravation. :(

On this day, I made my way to the church, paid a visit to the flea market, and acquired a few garden implements with shorter handles. Our selection consisted of a hoe, a shovel, and a rake. Tomorrow, I will eagerly put them to the test. Allow me to pose a query: do you experience any interruption in your internet connection every evening between midnight and 6 a.m.? This occurrence has been a daily event for the past week. I am currently using Spectrum internet services.

We have Spectrum at the cabin. I haven’t noticed any interruptions and I was using it last week.

Nope, because sane people aren't awake those hours 😂 (Joking) We are actually up 4-4:30, but not online. @UrbanHunter might have better input.

Got dehydrator loaded with blackberries. They were discing to our east and harvesting wheat to our west the past couple days so everything has a thick coat of dust on it. I've seen them eye-balling the wheat behind us so am putting off washing the rigs until they do. I've been dusting inside though as I do actually like to breath. My right sinus is throwing a fit!
Made it to church - not too many today, but good message.
Home, have sat for a few, now I need to get back at it.

We went to church this morning. Hubby always goes before me as he has to set up the audio/visual. I followed with an orange cream cake I baked last night for treats with our coffee. Then we ran a few errands. Starting to stock up ‘kid food’ for when the grandkids are here next week. Loaded up on ramen noodles and boxed Kraft macaroni and cheese. I have two racks of ribs, a pork roast for pulled pork sandwiches, hamburger meat, beanie weenies. 🤣 I have lots of things planned to do with them.

Sunday school at Baptist Church
Piano at Methodist church
Mother in law at nursing home
2 canners with 1 bushel pressuring down cream peas
1 more bushel to go. Pints or quarts?
Count jars first
Quarts easier……
A funny: A few years ago we made broth from the carcass of a bear we got. Had it in my cauldron- told Hubby I wanted to do pints since that’s primarily what I use of broth. After however many pints I could fit in one canner, I grabbed the quart jars! Qts are definitely easier.

So Jake bought this Ruger Charger 10/22 today. ...some how when I shot it I got my finger in front of the barrel... and...

Gol Dang, Hash! Sorry to see that happened, Chief... Funny that I just recently got #1 Daughter set up, similarly.. (https://www.homesteadingforum.org/threads/what-did-you-do-today-that-was-gun-related.5407/page-91#post-567794  Guess I'll check ahead in the posts, to see if ya posted an Update on home much of that digit you'll have to lose..

..I should Think you could keep it from the 'proximal knuckle' on back, but.. I suppose with tendon / nerve-damage (not to mention, bone..) maybe the Doc's have a different assessment.. Godspeed to the Best for ya, Chief! :(

@gloryroad56 not every evening, yes, last night. Yes, spectrum. They sent me an email which I couldn’t receive until after it reconnected, telling me it was down and when it would be reconnected. Didn’t last long really. But in the late spring it was doing that a lot.
Recently Church building was totally messed up by faulty sprinkler system. Will be traveling for church for a few months. Friends came by and on their way out offered to eliminate part of my security system (wasp nest). So that was taken care of without poison. Yay.
@zannej sorry you felt bad.
@winds-of-change those are crazy stats! Glad he finished safely enough.
Cleaned this a.m.
@LadyLocust I’m thinking about stopping by for blackberry cobbler.

Going to the Amish store to buy yeast and flour today .
It's super foggy out so that will have to wait a while
Pulling some weeds since it absolutely poured last night. We had a severe thunderstorm warning that came out of nowhere, including hail and 60mph wind . Thankfully we didn't get the wind and the hail but it was still pretty bad. A large tree limb fell in the chicken area and 3 chickens are missing. It was too dark to find them, hope they are not under the tree limb.
Husband went and put the wet goat boys in the barn afterwards in the dark, and the wet dog. They have shelters but small ones that won't keep them dry in a severe storm.
I wonder how bad our road is looking
