Made it back from town (always a combat tour where traffic is concerned), now I'm relaxing with a cold Coors "tall boy." I bought a 12-pack of tall boys (regular Coors Banquet Beer) just because the price was good, I'm tired of shelling out bucks for 30-packs, lol. I exchanged books at the library, so now I have a whole new stack of Westerns to read. Mailed a packet of clippings to my best friend in Coronado, we're still working our way through the boxes of old newspapers, lol. I collected something like 3 or 4 apple boxes of newspapers nationwide during my 'trucking daze'---many of 'em with unusual or even historic headlines. I'm talking newspapers anywhere from 14-27 years old, aye? We're having fun with the old news, it sure beats the new cr@p hands down, lol. I annotate or modify various headlines & articles with my Sharpie, so it's a FULL-ON COMEDY PROGRAM, especially where the dirty Clinton & Obama swine are involved... 🤣

Yo, Peanut! Check out the free mag I picked up at the library! There are tables near the entrance which have all kinds of free material, and I always check what's available just in case there's something interesting, yeah? Usually, I pick up travel mags or New Mexico history mags, but today I saw this cool mag from the Native Plant Society Of New Mexico, so I bagged it to check it out, lol. The cover pic is to die for, with all those wildflowers! The outfit also has a website, I'm tossing in the link in case you or anybody else is interested! Here ya go! Native Plant Society Of New Mexico 🤩

Nice shot, aye? Wait, that's actually in West Texas, lol... but it's right next door, so meh, close enough! Holy Cr@p! I just went to the link provided by the mag in the photo caption, and the guy who took this photo has some AWESOME PICS taken across the Southwest! I guess he slings 'em for cash, but you can check 'em out for free, lol. Go to the website shown below and click on 'Color Photography Galleries' to see some incredible photographs! I guess the guy also does something called 'digital art?' I don't even know what that entails, but some of it looks heller cool! Check it out, Peanut! Here's the link, and I'm back to my cold beer... it's HOT outside right now, I just tore up a loaf of sale bread for the birds upon my return to the ol' hacienda, and it's COOKIN' out there, lol. So I'm staying indoors until it cools off, then I'll water again... 😎

Artist: he has a VanGogh-esk style. Yep, just made up another word. Think that might be my super power, and maybe a reason folks don't understand me 😂 Anyhoo, he uses a heavy brush.

See how y'all are? I'm enjoying the heck outta the free tour of the Southwest, and I'm no shill for the photog either, I'm just a cheap b@stard who can't afford to actually travel to those places, lol. The good news is that I've already BEEN to many of 'em, but my photos never looked like these! Must have been the cheap camera, lol... ;)

The metal door I has installed 25 or so years ago showed some rust. By the time I fot all of the rust removed I had a 3" or so hole to fix. I used fiberglass and resin then finished it with body putty.

Ready to primer now. I had to take care because trying to get epoxy resin out of a carpet just isn't going to happen.

@hashbrown you look pain free in the pic. Hate you had to lose it. Hopefully your hand will feel a bit better now. Don't know how you slept with it at night.

More major house keeping today, cleaning out every place a fruit fly might hide. They are horrible.

Oh, found a new way to kill them. I noticed they like to land on things white in color. Paper towels, paper plates, anything white.

Last night I put my observation to the test. Right after dark I ran both sinks full in the kitchen. Using lots of soap, big mound of suds... I turned off the lights in the kitchen except the one above the sink.

During the night the fruit flys would land on the suds and get stuck. By midnight there were a dozen dead ones, little black dots on the suds.

Gonna set my trap again tonight. :) Best part, I can soak dirty dishes at the same time... two birds!
I’ll have to try that. My kefir (and the fruit bowl on the dining room table) seems to be attracting the fruit flies. 😫

Had a busy day!! Big cleaning job then helped a guy in the area who has a donkey In need of hoof trimming. I showed him pictures of my pen and chute I built to work with Buddy. This guy's donkey is already halter broke, he just never handled him much. So I will have a side job for a few weeks working with "Little Joe"! The guy's son is coming this weekend and they will build the pen and chute!! 108° today, the breeze is nice in the shade! Going to hit the pool for a bit!!

I didn’t have as much luck last night, only saw a couple after dark. Either a) I caught all the dumb one the first night or b) I did something different.

It’s B… Thinking about it I realized I ran the sink of bubbles earlier than my assumption, before supper. Which means…

The fruit flies go to bed at dark. I have to make a pile of suds earlier while they are still active… Going to try again here in a few minutes.
--------------------------------------

Just rest today after two days of major cleaning. But I feel better than I have since before going to the folk school in apr. I realize now that event took far more out of me than I guessed. 4 days of non-stop music was just too much. Already have a scale backed plan for next year...

Sis from Oregon flew to Denver, and flight was delayed because of a storm, so she missed the flight to Wichita. She'll be in after 11 tonight, so I told her to do Lyft or Uber, so all our rushing and we don't have to make the 45 minute drive each way. Neighbor came by for eggs and brought some salsa. Other neighbor girl (levi's sis) came by to show her first car...a used Ford Fusion. She is very excited. 105 today. Brutal. Ugh.

What's everybody doing "this week"? Well, last Wednesday I took 2 dead 6 volt golf cart batteries to Napa for new replacements. It has been 10 years + since I bought those batteries and and I didn't realize I paid for 6 volt batteries but the parts counter moron gave me 8 volt batteries. It took me 4 days to figure out why my solar set up on my trailer was not liking, and or working, with the the new batteries. Last night I realized the batteries had 4 fill caps instead of 3 and that they were 8 volt batteries. The solar system didn't want to charge them because they were all ready over the 12 volt (14 volt) limit. I called the store today and explained the problem and I was told to bring them in and they would exchange them. Well, when I got to NAPA they didn't have two 6 volt batteries so now I have to go back tomorrow, 27 miles each way, to get the correct batteries. The so called manager/supervisor apologized but that that didn't save me 54 miles round trip tomorrow... in 110+ temps in the "big city" south of here. Another unnecessary trip to town to correct their mistake. Hopefully the GF has a couple other stops in town to make it a productive trip.
I did make a few other stops, the liquor store and the beer store and the health food store, but the health food store didn't have what I needed so that will be another trip in the near future.
The boss is out of town this week so I am flying solo again. I don't mind that but the carburetor I took apart last week was set aside when the boss put me on another task. He didn't rebuild the carb like he said he would and a week later I didn't remember how to put it back together. It is now waiting for his return. I started on a couple other jobs but decided to wait until tomorrow to tear down another carb so I can remember how to put it back together correctly. it is a lot easier when it is only hours between tear down and reassemble and not 6 or 7 days.
Thursday evening I am supposed to go fishing with the old neighbor. I am hoping that is productive. I am told the fishing hole we are going to is doing well so we shall see.
Aside from that, I got nothing good.

INresponse, that's EXACTLY why I haven't tackled the bike project yet, I need to finish the kitchen first (been laggin' hard there, lol). I don't wanna tear apart the carb and then have it kicking around for days or weeks... carb work is tricky enough when it's all fresh and laid out in front of ya. I've also been hoping that someone else might buy the bike and take the whole project off my hands... I posted new ads in town today, so we'll see. I've had fun on this bike, but I'd like to unload it and get something smaller, I'm gettin' too old to manually turn that heavy KLR around on a narrow trail, especially if there's a grade involved either way. It's like wrasslin' a big ol' alligator... :(

Just finished watering, and I'm not really hungry (had pasta this afternoon), so I'm gonna read a good Western. Tomorrow is another day, and one day closer to cooler fall weather, lol. 🤠

Went to carb school many years ago. Not sure how much I would remember now. Not many used any more. Went to transmission school when I was a Toyota mechanic about 1970. I remember almost none of that.

Got the Ranger dropped off for maintenance , truck made it back ok
Did some shopping
More weed spraying today, have to take advantage of dry days
It is now hot here also ( was 85 yesterday) , but we're in July so nothing unusual there
Have to clean out our storage room, heard a rat or something in there. It's mostly all in plastic buckets, but they can chew through the lids. Maybe I should just put it all in metal garbage cans like we have the animal feed
Need to put some bait chunks out , haven't done that in a while
Oh, I picked another bucket of green beans yesterday evening when it cooled down
Plus we got our first tomatoes

I’ll try this. I’ve done that before but I thought it was apple cider vinegar I used. I couldn’t find any ACV in my house. I thought I had some. I’ll try plain vinegar. I put the kefir in the fridge last night. That seems to be what they are most interested in. But I’m sure they’ll just move on to the fruit bowl or the kombucha.

I woke up a bit rough this morning. My daughter and I went out and had Thai food last night. I dearly love Pad Thai, but it is a nightmare for Type 1 diabetic to deal with. The noodles are loaded with carbohydrates. I badly overestimated the carbohydrates and ended up taking way too much insulin. That caused my blood glucose level to be way too low around 11pm. Then I ate too much when I corrected it, and woke up with a high level this morning. I'm getting it straightened out now, but I don't feel like doing much yet.

Daughter has a 7 1/2 hour shift at McDonald's today. I am thinking about going kayak shopping while she's at work. I've got nowhere to keep one right now, but I don't want to have to mess with renting kayaks when I want to go. I'd also like to have one for fishing on the smaller lakes we have around here..

Walked first this morning.
Took DH to copd doc appt--then VA clinic. VA is determining how to get him set up with a midline again, so we can do IV antibiotics at home.
I took 2 bags of mulch to Church and did flower beds.
Unloaded two cases of jars I got at the thrift store about a week ago. They went in the shed.
I think it feels like I have done more because it's so hot!

I'm gonna go throw up, made an offer on a house. but I am getting old, tired, and more realistic about what I can accomplish,

The guy next door to the maybe new place will be fine. He has a sign that says the homeowner is armed, and is flying a Gadsden flag. Chickens in his backyard too :)

Now under contract.
