Congratulations @Magpie !

I'll walk in a few minutes.
DH has therapy this morning. Doc removed the staples from his hip, yesterday. Says he is doing great!
Next, will run around locally for a few errands. Fertilize flowers at Church, renew DH's handicap placard, stores for cream cheese and rug runner for DH, bank to put copy of cancelled deed in safe deposit box.
Do laundry.
Make pumpkin dessert for tomorrow.
Set up ingredients for a couple of side dishes for tomorrow.
Make a few phone calls and call it a day.

We (the wife) has been making side dishes for our Thanksgiving meal (we're doing ours on Saturday). The wife wants to cook, but her health makes it hard. The work around was to plan out the meal and make one or two dishes a day. By Friday night the whole meal will be made (except for some last minute baking)....

I've been gathering the decorations for the Holiday season, the plan is to start putting up the lights and stuff on Thursday with a lighting on Saturday night. I looked at adding a "store bought" yard tree, but for a little 12' light tree it was way over $200 and my budget just wasn't up to it. I will be happy if I get my re-designed flag pole tree up on time.

Last night of work for a few days thankfully..I need a nice break.
Feeling froggy still but better. I'm not going to my friends since I have this cold. From what I understand..this crud that is circulating here is pretty nasty. Fortunately..I have had very mild symptoms compared to my neighbors n folks I talk to in town. So, since my friends are in their 60's n 70's.., I'm going to lay low n not potentially share.
Its ok..they will save me a plate. I'm looking forward to a warm fire , starting a new rug and organizing stuff.
It's supposed to snow today alittle. I need to get up ..uggh..

Furnace repair guy checked the furnace. Decided to get a new furnace. The one we have 35 years old. Time for an upgrade.

It should be installed on Monday.

We will get by with space heaters until then.

It will be nice to not being the resident furnace repair guy.

Hope you get better soon. Drink water until your eyes float too. Helps flush the system. Hugs!

Id probably barf...I cant do hot peppers much.
I do have a sweet chilie chinese sauce I can do..just a tad maybe..or ginger..
You'll be surprised at how little it takes to completely change the flavor! I keep red pepper, honey and real lemon juice on hand just for fast colds. I think I've been sick once in 25 years.

Hope you are out and about soon- just the usual here, suddenly have a lot of 'little errands' to do for other people, so the day flies by. Found the remains of my missing hen. The dogs are in big trouble.

Will feed Buddy as soon as it's light enough outside. Then the turkey is going in the oven!! Hopefully a nice quiet day! Main meal between 1:30 & 2, turkey sandwiches tonight! Napping whenever I can!! Going to be a pretty day, upper 60's so will be outside piddling around. Hubby is making Sammy another insulated, elevated cat house to go next to the other one by the back of the house. The two girl cats took over the original one. Sammy doesn't want to cuddle with the girls, they probably have cooties, lol!

I have been gathering my Christmas lights to decorate the outdoors. Last year it became clear that my flag pole Christmas tree was un-sustainable as the 24" plastic star fell apart after 15 years of use. The lights were powered from the top with an extension cord running the length of the pole and all the strings of lights were attached just below the base of the star. About 3' down from the star I used a 5/16" thick plastic disk that had slots cut in the edge to spread out the strands of Christmas lights, but this design was heavy and made the pole difficult to set up, plus it was dropped as the tree came down last year and the disk cracked as a result.

So after I got it taken down last year I initiated a redesign: I used a wooden ball, 3/8" steel threaded rod, and dowels to make a new 36" 3D star. I also decided to power all the lights from the bottom, so I made an extension cord with 20 outlets evenly spaced along it's length to power the colored lights from the bottom, I will wrap the pole bottom to top with a colored led light string and green garland; the star will plug into that string. I am using an antenna guy wire ring at the base of the star for stabilizing cables and another set about 1/3 down from the top of the pole. The base was changed to a pivot design with 3' anchor bolts set in a concrete base 4' deep, the goal is to attach the assembled tree to the base and swing it up into position by pulling on the guy wires. To keep the strands of colored lights evenly spaced I plan to use wire (bailing or drop ceiling support wire) to make a spacer ring every 5' from the top to the bottom. (Imagine the ropes going up the side of the masts of a sailing ship).

Anyway that's the plan and I have today and tomorrow afternoon to execute before trying to light it up on Friday or Saturday night! HO, I almost forgot, I am planning to use my solar battery backup system to power all my Christmas lights for the majority of the season!

I think I will try to document this build using my phone camera.

Still having my coffee, but will get off my butt in a short bit. Get husband his breakfast, get animal chores done, and get turkey in, then start making the side dishes. Yesterday I did two pumpkin pies, the special jello, and the stuffing/dressing. Have plenty more to make. Two guests are here, and two guests are coming. My cousin that had the heart problem passed, he had no brain activity Monday night at all, so he was taken off the equipment. His sis will be here tonight, and he had been invited as well. In his 50's, too young.

I'm prepping the taters, carrots and squash getting them ready to go when it's time. The T bird goes in around noon, then it's football while the bird cooks, Detroit is playing Green Bay at 12:30. The game and cooking time on the bird should be real close to the same, I'll turn the veggies on at the end of the third quarter.

I would like to give thanks to everyone here. We are really blessed!

Since I'm still walking 3-4 miles a day, and on a year long endeavor to lose extra weight, we are forgoing a big turkey feast, and instead taking a nice, long walk.

Coming home, cleaning up, and headed out to the movie theater to see Napoleon, in the special IMAX theater.

I tried to gather the family, but everyone is either working (law enforcement), spending time with their in-laws, or have flown to other states to see other family members.
Fret not, I will see if they have a turkey flavoring that I can sprinkle on my cold, dry popcorn.

Have a blessed day!

Just getting up kinda..
Its windy outside , so I'm dragging.
Feeling worn out but..the doggies love their walk.
As soon as that is done, im going to get my wood stove fired up
I already told my friends I wont be hanging out today. I dont want to share cooties n risk getting them sick.
Relaxing by my stove , listening to the wind blow sounds just fine to me.

I'm trying to catch up. Was exhausted from the Covid. Tested negative but am still sick. Cats cuddling with me has helped me feel a little better. Tried to do some cleaning but felt too cruddy and had to lie down. Wanted to go get takeout from Flying Wok-- got some the other day and it was great. Mom didn't want me to get it bc she wanted me to cook. We've never been big on turkey. Prefer ham. Haven't had it much since Captain Fluffy (one of our cats) passed away. She LOVED the ham. Made mashed potatoes with hamburger meat, velveeta cheese, and sauteed mushrooms. Mom actually said it was good (she normally says something is "ok"). That's my version of shepherd's pie. The dogs got a little of it and were happy.

Keep sneezing and can't lie down to sleep. Still trying to get my energy back.
