Well daylight is gone and although I made progress I didn't finish... I got the extension cords run to provide power to the Christmas lights. Then I started to trim the outline of the house, but discovered that the gutters needed cleaning badly, got them cleaned and found a loose section of gutter, so I re-secured it. Then I finished doing the old-fashioned (C7 multi-color bulbs) outline of the house, when I turned them on I discovered I needed to replace almost 25 bulbs... I got that done and realized that tomorrow is trash pickup day...

The good news is the only outdoor Christmas thing left to do is the flag-pole tree.... At least I don't have to climb on the rooftop to do that one...
I did get the pole laid out and the measurements for the ring at the bottom, but it's not up. I was waiting on some lifting eye bolts that are arriving tomorrow, so it's not a total loss...

Had a really good day! Cooked, ate, napped, played with the critters! Raked the leaves in Bear's front yard into two piles, he had a blast playing in those! Hubby and I played ping pong for a bit. Annie cat took one of the balls, smacked it out of the shop door and kept going with it. Fixing to eat some cheesecake!

Yay, another day off!! Hubby left to help a couple he works for with some problem on their motor home, they are leaving on a trip. Then he is running to town for a couple of Black Friday deals! Enjoying a quiet cup of coffee, a nice fire, and the critters! Got laundry started, looking at my to do list. Going to take Bear to the walking trails in a bit! Turkey sandwiches for breakfast and lunch!

We had a great day, yesterday and very good meal. I have now convinced myself that I won't be making a huge meal for a few people all by myself- ever again. My heart feels lighter, already! It's a good thing as we will do something simpler and much easier in the future!

This morning, I will walk first.
Walk dogs.
Package and freeze leftover turkey. Most of it.
Wrap a few Christmas presents to mail.
Decorate front porch.
No cooking today!

Am still making the huge meal for a few people, but it's because husband wants all the sides that go with the turkey, so it's hard to take it down. But I would take it down if he didn't care. It's alot of work. Our company that is visiting does not cook, but I did have her help with the simple things in the kitchen, and she was a help.
I like homemade, so that's alot of the problem. Would not buy a premade pie from Costco or a premade pie crust. It's easier and tastier and healthier to make it yourself. We had a stuffing conversation, because I make that from scratch, but I repackage and store Stove Top, because it's tolerable for storage food. Ha.

Daughter and family got here ok yesterday around lunch. The grandbaby is too cute!!
I cooked a lot of food and we ate too much. Made turkey, ham, smashed potatoes, candied sweet potatoes , broccoli and green been casseroles, rolls, salad, the cheese cake, and pumpkin pies
But hurt my back again. Stupid dogs....I was bending down to scratch one of the livestock dogs belly and the other one thought I was playing and jumped on me and knocked me over. I am not majorly injured but my back is now more sore again , so not doing much today. They went to the bike trail to go bike riding ( baby is in a little trailer attached)
Going to make Chinese food today when they get back , husband did most the animal care today
Tomorrow we plan on all going to the indoor pool to go swimming. Daughter and her husband are like me when I was younger, always doing something physically active. Well he has too considering what his job is , and she used to be a lifeguard , so the baby is learning to swim early
Hope everyone had a nice Thanksgiving, I will try to catch up later, son wants to play a game ( he doesn't have a bike so he stayed here)

I haven't been feeling good for the last few days. Still managed to cut a couple dead fir trees yesterday and skidded them up to the house with the tractor. Maybe 1 or 2 cords by the time I get it split. The wind was blowing pretty hard and the temp was in the mid 20's. I cut the trees about a mile from the house. It was a cold ride on the tractor.
We're taking the gkids home tomorrow morning.

I had a great day yesterday! Got alot done after the dog walk.
The wind is still blowing pretty good and it was in the high 30's yesterday n same for today I believe.
The sun is shining but I'm not looking forward to a walk today.
I installed one of those clothes dryer heat diverter things. Instead of blowing out the heated air outside you can blow it inside.
I didnt want to cut my dryer tube thing and I wanted the air aimed towards the hall. So I put a metal curtain rod inside the dryer vent tube to support it standing up n duct taped it to the back of the dryer. I duct taped the dryer vent door shut so no critters get inside.
The little vent screen on the diverter spit out some dust that I didnt reach apparently..so I took it off n put a dryer sheet on it to catch the small dust n dog hair that the screen doesnt catch.
I did alot of laundry and my hallway n pantry were nice n toasty. I love it!

I got my old light string working again and can once again enjoy my Enterprise D model ornament. It even has a blinking running light on the top..I'm a Star Trek nerd.
I got a bunch of little chores n stuff done too..by the time 7 pm rolled around , I had not ate all day yet. The one nice think about the crud I got is I havent been to hungry. I told my friends to just save me a plate n not worry about dropping one off..but now I was tired n hungry. So top ramen with a few slices of swiss cheese on top was dinner. I didnt have the motivation or energy to do anything else.
I'll eat good tonight..
Oh..I'm making cards, along with my rugs to sell at a craft fair if a table becomes available. This one is metallic ink. The picture doesnt pick up the colors..but the ink has is shiny. And my dog enjoying her window down car ride. She almost fell asleep like that on the ride back. I made some chicken stock too..I let it simmer on the stove all day..I'll can it today.

The two guests we invited for Thanksgiving dinner opted for their families after all. That left us entertaining just the SIL since the granddaughters spent the day with their other grandparents.

Lots of everything including chestnut dressing which a tradition in The Princess's family. The chestnuts included some from the trees growing in the field we purchased this year.

There is another Thanksgiving dinner on Sunday when the granddaughters will visit us. The Princess is preparing my family's tradition which is " Air Force Stuffing".

We used to eat Thanksgiving at mess hall on base since my father was in the Air Force. My mother loved the stuffing so my father got her the recipe. She had to scale it down from "25 loaves of bread.." to family sized. It is a cornbread stuffing.

For my part I had to clear a path for the furnace replacement through the work zone we call The Hobbit Hole.

It is a mess but there is a path. I am ready for the furnace replacement on Monday.

Until then I will be relaxing and enjoying myself.

Since we're taking the gkids home tomorrow we're going to have Christmas tonight. Going to have ribs and shrimp for dinner. The wind is still blowing hard and to temp is in the mid 20's, at least the sun is out. I'm still feeling like crap, but life goes on. No time to rest.

Sold a car, money in pocket. Getting ready to meet with a friend I haven't seen in 30+ years. Need to get some more yard work done, tomorrow. No black friday shopping for me. Did that once or twice, felt weird. Didn't really see anything I thought was a bargain. Getting ready for a new baby in the family.

No ..Black Friday.. of any kind for me.. Did that once when the kids were in middle school as they wanted something at that time.. They never wanted to go again..

Spent the whole day in my PJs.. No where to go, nothing to get out for..
Yesterdays high temp was 30F... Todays high 20F... No need to go out..

Warmed up turkey sandwich.. Warmed up green bean casarole, potatoes and gravy for lunch.. Will have a small sliver of apple pie later this evening..

Hooch,

Keep an eye on humidity levels increased by the dryer. You don't want to wreck your pantry.
I thought about this too..I have a hygrometer on a nice weather gauge thingy I brought with me from the coast. I have it in the hallway but I might put it on the opposite wall in the pantry..

I really didnt get alot done today. I had a low grade headache most if the day and just wanted to lounge about.
I did take the pups on a walk dispite the bitter cold wind n my head.
My friends brought me leftovers , I ate some of it. Its probably the best meal I've had in a week n the most I've eaten in one shot. Just not hungry, but that's good.
After that I took some stuff to the barn, gave the birds a tortilla treat n tried to fix my man door on the barn. I really need to take it off n reinstall it n fix some other issues. It will have to wait till next year.
I finally got my elderberries in the dehydrator and ordered a few items off Amazon.
I didnt even build a fire today. I'm regretting that now..its really cold n windy outside.
Bedtime soonish here..I'm feeling a need to get more rest and I want to get a early start on tomorrow.
