Was wiped out after all the errands, but was happy to hear some chicks peeping in their shells after supper. One has made it out...waiting for a buddy to accompany it before I move it to a brooder. New chicks of the year are so fun. Little granddaughter singing Happy Birdday to it. Is black. Looks like a Jersey Giant cross.

aww. Chicks are adorable! I miss having them but don't have the energy or time for them.
It's chilly again tonight so Boo, who has been sleeping in the front room or outside, has decided to sleep on my bed. Itsy and Rupert are on my lap. Fippy is to my right growling up a storm because he sees Itsy and she's not even looking at him, but he's crabby.

Please let us know how the dog is!!
@Pearl Capone woke up this morning acting completely normal, so we'll hold off on the vet. The two big boys play really rough and we think he had hurt his back. Classic symptoms of lowered head, humped back, unsteady walk and shaking/trembling. Noticed it Sunday afternoon after they had been outside playing. We medicated with pain killer / anti inflammatory alternately and rest. This morning he is a tail waggin', bone carryin', daddy followin' boy again! Thank the Lord!~

This morning I made a quick run to HD, picked up some PVC. One of the threads had a Video of bottom watering tomatoes that looked promising, I will use the PVC to create a bottom watering system for a block of tomatoes this year as an experiment. Temps will reach 70 today so I may run out this afternoon and transplant a tub on lettuce, I'm getting to the part of the season where I can harvest and replant at one time. Time to get to work.

I really am having a mini staycation/spring break! I have today and tomorrow off because of rampant covid in my area! I know I could find some 'extra' jobs to fill in, but I'm going to play catch up around home instead!! Laundry, change sheets, cut up chicken, peppers and onions for fajitas, and do some basic cleaning. On the outside I'll plant my veggie seeds, clean the insides of my vehicles, check oils, take some of the extra blankets out of the cat houses, and spend time with the critters! Fingers crossed it warms up enough for a few ice cold beers on the pool float!!🤞

Late morning is meeting mom for her doc appt. She'll be brought by transport, so I just meet there. A formality required appt, once every 3 months. Husband will have to go along, because he has a shot appointment an hour and a half later. Wouldn't be time to go back home and get him and bring him back. If we're lucky, there will be time for something to eat in between.

How to Spot a Credit Card Skimmer at Gas Pumps and Avoid Getting Scammed Updated: Feb. 21, 2024

"Knowing how to identify a gas pump skimmer is the first step in protecting yourself from this common scam.

Drivers are keeping a close eye on gas prices, which are at an all-time high. But a lack of cheap gas isn’t the only issue you might face when filling your tank. A gas pump skimmer can do a real number on your bank account.
Gas-station fraud commonly occurs with the use of skimmers, small devices that thieves place on or above the card readers at gas pumps (and ATMs) to copy and steal your credit card information. They used to be found primarily in cities, but the scam has spread into rural areas, and everyone should be on alert for these devices."

If you have a chip card and use it they can't do it , I just read the article. I use my cc all the time to get gas and this has never happened to me or husband , try to get a chip card not swipe it

My sil does that and swears by it

@Spikedriver After years of "Windmilling" your wrist will begin to give you trouble I went to the flip up and drop when you get it to full height just drop it and whip it the last foot or so it will put them down in three licks on a hard switch tie.

I could out pull a spike puller when I worked T&S I would start them pulling every day pull the outside and both insides let the four spike pullers do the outside on 1 rail.

I caught up the anchors in the evening doing one hand behind the back to do triceps on the front side.

With all of the hydraulics it would seem things would goa lot faster, but when It was just a backhoe and hand tools we did a lot more than any section gang does now.

5 men and a backhoe then would put in 100 ties tamped, spiked anchored and dressed in a day, sometimes more in the right kind of track "good rock, No mud and straight track"

Different world then.

The best thing I ever got in the new tool category was the first Hydraulic Saw I got it was a 14 inch straight handle dual pivot by Stanley, it was the best saw I ever had it would cut a 132 in under a minute and straight as an arrow. when the motor wore out they got some other kind and it was not half the saw, same for the first hole saw drill we got hydraulic it cut at the right speed and you could saw at least 6 holes with one bit as long as you kept the lubricant on it. Railroads are notorious for buying equipment from companies that members of their boards own stock in or are board members of.

Have a good safe week.
Hydraulics are great but not faster. They just allow less people to do the same amount of work.🙁

Today, because my daughter has no school, we're exploring some farmland in the neighboring county. We picked South Carolina because electricity costs less there. The next county over is Aiken, South Carolina, and has around six farmers' markets. We don't need a license to sell our produce. The county also has a large flea market with plenty of stores, and we'd be about 20 miles from the city of Aiken. What really convinced us to stay in South Carolina is that the land is more affordable. Thanks to everyone for your suggestions.

Just finished a very late breakfast, and will soon go on a dog walk.

The weather is very nice, so there will be many dogs and people about.

Our 2 pups are often times horrible around other dogs. Mostly because of littermate syndrome. They key off each other. When one goes on alert, they both do. When walked separately, they are very well behaved for the most part. We usually take them for a half mile - one mile walk, so to do them separately usually takes up a lot of time.

Wish me luck!

I see you mentioned "the shed", I'm assuming you mean my shed!😉😃
My shed is concrete block and has leaks in the roof. It is also called pantry B. I try to keep it looking good, but sometimes it is a losing battle. I did just finish it a few minutes ago and am so glad it is done...for now.

Spent yesterday cleaning out the fuel tank on the 4000 Ford tractor, there was a strainer that broke up and I had to get all of that out of it because the parts would float up over the bypass of the inlet strainer and get in the lines ending up in the fuel filter.
Took about two hours to get everything out of the tank I hate to get diesel fuel on me gas smell leaves a lot faster than diesel.

I had a drain made out of a DEF jug, an anchor bolt box and a utility jug, it worked like a charm and hardly spilled a drop. I don't like getting oil on the ground around the shop I have a well about 100 feet from it and even though it is built up around the head I don't like to let anything get around it I will dlg the little bit that spilled up and take it to the firepit.

Those 6 gallon jugs to refill the tank seem to get heavier every year.

I am ready to cut bushes out from under the fruit trees before they get full foliage.

I have an old 7 foot heavy duty Servis bush hog with two trunk notches cut in it to back up on the larger brush trunks, I need to plate the front of it because it has worn thin.

I will probably just end up with a single wing ten foot to replace it next year.

I had to replace a lot of lights in the shop and am getting ready to spend a few weeks getting the car running and out of the shop I will do a tire smoke video HEHEHEHEH.

This is the work place I haven't even cleaned it up yet.

Ditto here too, Tx Charm.
Widow neighbor came over to talk my ear off for awhile. I'm still not feeling great, so husband is chewing me out about making a doc appt. As if I don't go enough. I finished the Zpack, and still not good. Anyway, neighbor's granddaughter is supposed to be over her place bottle feeding some lambs, so little granddaughter went over to meet her. They are about the same age, so that'd be good if she made a nearby friend. Nine chicks have hatched, but one is iffy. Of course I helped it out of the shell. We'll see on that one.
