Got the gate modifications finished at the coop. It's to icy to work on the roof, so I just came in to warm up. Its supposed to snow tonight and tomorrow. I put my tools away just in case it does snow. I need to hook up my trailer tonight for a trip to the lumber yard tomorrow morning. If we get too much snow I'll stay home instead.

Went to the liquor store ... needed to replace some bourbon / scotch /whiskey.

Of course the wife groaned about my having too much already. So I again took pics of my stash:

For Thanksgiving, hubby got a bottle of Heaven Hills sorta for everyone but really for my brother. We all tried it. Hubby and bro loved it. SIL and I thought it was “hot” and went with my favorite Tulamore.

Hmm! Hmm!
I would think you shouldn't run your mouth to a Military Moms three weeks before Christmas.
But at lass, 1 pre teenage male and 6 teenagers males from 5 households mouths overloaded their behinds.
You should never ever tell your mothers, you can make dinner better than them.
Here you go.
No cooking,laundry,for teenagers and pre -teenager males.
So 5 of the Military Moms are on strike.
All adult males(husbands) work with my Irishman they will be home in a week and half.
Makes me glad I have no teenager males at home.
But my sons ran their mouths too when they were younger too.
And I did the same thing to them too.
Still exercising with other military ladies.
Still having fun.
I miss my Irishman.
And he misses me too.
Isn't life fun with teenagers.

This is why male children need their fathers or some man to keep them in line.

Hubby and I went skiing today . New skis and poles work great. Last year I only skied a day and a half when I messed up my MCL so I was curious how I’d do. My knee was great. There’s barely enough snow for them to open so I was super cautious about rocks and trees. Other than being a little rusty, it was great. Hubby tweaked his back accidentally hitting a dip so we made it a short day. Came home and made elk steaks and garlic fried kale with feta for dinner .
Tomorrow morning I have to make yet more cookies (different than last week) for the neighbors’ cookie party. Then church, then party.

My BIL lives in town and that's what it looks like at his place too. We're usually above the fog here at 5,000 ft elevation.

It was warmer up at the mill, sunny n 40ish in the afternoon..last 2 days here socked in fog with a afternoon high of 27..uggh..

When the grandkids were here I took the grandson to get a haircut. I told the barber to give the boy a marine cut. He likes it.

The lady and I went to a Christmas bazaar on a "Holidate". I walked around with her as she shopped, I eye ****** anyone who looked like a threat, I carried shopping bags, I held onto her purse a few times, I stood by and nodded in agreement, I consumed a variety of foods, did some day drinking, ran into a woman I used to "see", I got to observe some unfamiliar jealousy, put bags into the trunk of the Audi, engaged in festive merriment, participated in more day drinking, had an early dinner, made a public announcement, embarrassed the lady but in a good way, utilized the lady's service as a designated driver, arrived at the apartment, rid myself of attire and eventually made it to my oversized chair as the lady made me another cocktail. I am sure I wll be sleeping by 9pm at this rate.

Well, I'm officially old. I like to watch football, though I always have to mute the ads and the pregame and the half time. Tonight I was watching a game, and when it ended the yelling and squawking was too much and I quickly changed the channel. Only to land on the Lawrence Welk Christmas show. And I liked it. Big hair, plaid jackets, and all. Such a wave of nostalgia and longing for the good old days before I lost so many loved ones in my family; a simpler time before my heart and spirit were beaten up by life. I miss them so!

Finally had a good thing happen; I ordered a replacement baffle for my wood stove and it showed up today! Predicted delivery was Tuesday, so it actually came early. Figured out how to install it, and did the first little "seasoning" fire per the instructions. So tomorrow I can burn more, and then Monday get back to regular usage. The place I bought it from is willing to do the warranty work, but can't come til next Friday, and can't order any parts until they're on site and do a consultation with the company. So even if they follow through and don't try to weasel out of the warranty, it would still be another week or so before I got the new baffle, and the stove can't be used without it. I found what I needed on amazon and found instructions on how to replace it online. If the warranty works out, then I'll have an extra baffle for next time.

I love the wood stove, and thinking about it tonight I need to remind myself to be grateful for how far I've come. In the old house I had forced air lp heat. The bills were insanely high, it would be at least 400, sometimes 600 or 800/month to heat that place. Now in this smaller house, and with the woodstove, I didn't even turn on the furnace until the wood stove went down last week. Just got my November bill for natural gas and it was 30 bucks. That makes me so much more hopeful about being able to retire. It will be interesting to see what it is next time, since I've been using the furnace. But it's hot water heat, which is so much better without all the drafts. I can keep it at 66 or so and be comfortable.

Just went outside to get another log for the fire and everything is covered in white. If it keeps snowing like this all night I'm not going to want to pull my trailer down to the lumber yard, that's a 200 mile round trip. I may just take my truck instead. The longest piece of lumber will be 16' long, my truck bed is 8' so I'll have to tie it down. There's a winter weather advisory for tonight and tomorrow for snow up here and snow/ice at the lower elevations.
I'm finally getting warm now from working outside all day.

Hubie 2 and I went logging today, we worked at it pretty hard, got a nasty cantankerous tree out, but fire wood is free heat , Right ???

I think middle school was the worst, High School a bit better. Boy was I glad when I left it at 16. Had enough.
I do appreciate the time I grew up, though. I do think things were better in many ways, not perfect, but good.

Waiting on the last round of rain this morning! I have to clean my building and help one of my older ladies with her Christmas tree and porch lights!! She's the one who won't let her family do it because they won't do it correctly! Hopefully the band of rain gets here and exits quickly so as not to slow me down!!

Market went ok yesterday , sold all but 1 bread and a few pastries but didn't sell a lot of meat , but there was not as many people there as last year and more vendors. It was not freezing but not much above, and I got really cold despite being dressed warm. It's one thing working in cold weather ( or skiing), it's another just standing or sitting there. I think next year if it is this cold we are not doing the holiday market.
Today I really need to do laundry, hope the hose and faucet for it are not still frozen.
Plus clean barn and put animals out of course. Husband can put my stove back outside and put the market stuff away until spring

Talked to daughter also, and her husband's ship landed in Virginia beach yesterday , actually saw it on some news article online, and everyone got off the ship lots of happy relatives waiting, except her husband....so he told her on the phone that he just flat out refused to go directly to another ship ( while everyone else got to see their families and have their leave) and he got punished by having to stay on the ship for another week. Really ? I want to say something I can't say on here. I am so not surprised why not enough young people want to sign up for the military anymore if this is how they treat people!! I can see this happening if the country is under attack and they need everyone available. But it's not. Their contract says they are on the ship for a certain time and then off. They can't just punish people for having extra skills they might need on another ship. That's not his fault . I feel bad for them. I really hope daughter doesn't resign up again. But he has 2 more years either way unless he manages to get out of it somehow.

I found a almost brand new petal exercise bike for 5 bucks at the thrift store in town yesterday..
It's all super fancy digital ..it had a tiny swipe of dirt on the base..that's it. Not even any dirt on the petals...
5 bucks!
