On the road today, not a very fun drive, very slow, trying to push through it.

We got deerall the meat ground and in the freezer. With the deer they have killed this year we filled up the small freezer. Now I have to start clearing out one of the big ones. We als got the vacuum sealing done. Will can tomorrow.

Be careful Mr. Flight.
We definitely got the ice so far.
Supposed to get the snow tonight, tomorrow.
Even Strawberry had trouble going outside this morning to take care of business.
Made big pot of soup, not very good.
But filling and warming.
Been reading books all day.
Bout ready for bed.
Internet has been out just about all day.
Just came back on about an hour ago.
Stay warm everybody.
Just be careful what classes they give you. No sense in 3 of the 5 they pushed on me. To top it off we did 100s of 1000s of plants for Atlanta Olympics in 1996 I think it was.
Got our favorite professor fired for arguing with them over sending us out in lightening storm to plant some of them.
We gave him a big send off ,gifts and played,

They won't dump classes on me if I don't want to take them.
Pretty point blank on what I will pay for and what I won't.
Just want classes that will increase yield in garden.
Not the BS classes.

First thing this morning (after chores and exercise), I got the two 6 qt. slow cookers going with dog food. Then went up to Church to help make soup, cornbread and sheet cakes. Came home and pressure canned the dog food and baked another 24 cornbread muffins for Church. Got 22 pints this time! 18 in the canner and 4 in the instant pot. I have another pressure canner but need weights for it so I can run them both at once. Covered roses and aloe vera before the freeze tonight. That's about it for today.

Well no power loss....yet. The winds started about 2 hours ago. It got all the way up to 34 degrees this morning before the cold winds started lol
Hubby ran the bobcat up and down the lane and in our driveway breaking it up so there would be traction when you drove on it. It was a combination of snow sleet slush with an ice coating on top. And it would've melted from the bottom up so it would've been a sheet of ice to try to drive on come morning.
I've done breakfast for us and have the pot roast going in the crockpot. Started hubby's work clothes in the washer.
Nothing else much to do but maybe read some, watch tv if anything is on ( which is doubtful). Probably put on the classic country station for a while ( hate the new hiphop/bubblegum country now-a-days).
There was a line of snow heading for us but it broke apart when it hit the mountains

Doing my annual cleaning, going through closets, drawers, etc. I have a lot of stuff to go through, organize and clean, but hope to clear out a whole bunch of stuff. I plan to do something like the 40 day challenge of throwing out a box or bag of something everyday, but 365 day challenge. One of the biggest weights for me is all the boxes of books I have for my online book store that are not listed or gone through. When you sell books online, like I do, you can literally have 100's of boxes of books. I have gone through many, and gotten rid of 100's, but there are more to go through, but not 100's anymore. I have had lots of boxes of books come and go from my front porch over the years.

There was a light rain, sometimes misting most of yesterday. So, when I brought in groceries last night I tracked in mud, leaves etc. I had to sweep and then mop part of the living rm and the kitchen, they were a mess.

Going to be cold tonight. I went down to the barn to get a big arm load of hay to put in the dog box. My great nephew has been going in and out with the tractor. It was a big mud puddle, on to plan B.

I got a bunch of old towels from the rag box and laid them in the dog box. I went to the shop and got a heating lamp I use with baby chicks in the spring. I put 5 or 6 bricks in the bucket so it won’t turn over. My big shepherd should be fine, he’s young and healthy with a heavy winter coat of fur.

When I made boxes for the outside feral cats everything I read said to use straw for the bedding not cloth stuff.
Blankets and towels get wet and don't dry out.
The 2 outside cats love the boxes. They are warm, out of the wind and rain and it's a safe place for them to sleep.
I add straw as they get it mashed down and they make themselves a nest.
I made them out of 2 plastic tubs. One inside the other with a hole cut through both tubs with space between them for straw as insulation. More straw inside and the entrance facing away from the prevailing winds.
I thought about a heat lamp but decided they are OK without one.

yesterday the power was out for about 7 hours total. The Gennie ran fine but I noticed when I was outside shoveling snow..I got real tired of listening to Gennie. It's not that loud really..but I really... really enjoy my quiet serenity out here. My job requires me to wear hearing protection due to very loud production noise with the machines. So...in the future if it is during the day and above freezing temps and the power is out..gennie gets shut down. The only thing that is powered during the daytime that is essential is the fridge and water. In winter I can power down the fridge and put stuff in the snow..I can time my water usage and shut gennie down after whatever water needs I need for myself and critters. Below freezing temps are another game plan but If I can spare myself from the noise and propane consumption, I will.
Today, I checked on my neighbors ranch kitties up the road, and my chores. otherwise..Im catching up on news, cleaned the stall, enjoying my day off and hoping I get a peek at the moon..still nothing but clouds.. dang!

Took out two rows of Uncle's afghan. Hmm...
Made boo-boo, changed the pattern but didn't notice it until 2 rows later.
Easy day, did some sewing this morning.
Been crocheting all day.
Ate several times.
Got a dab of dishes to do up tomorrow.
Dust and mop kitchen floor.
Run sweeper throughout the house.
Let Strawberry in and out about 30 times today.
She finally put herself to bed.
That's it.
Worried about one of my idiot cousins.
They have no wood cut, split, stacked.
No wood, no kindling.
Thermostat broke on baseboard heaters yesterday.
Finally talked her into going to get new thermostat.
That took myself, my mom and finally my dad to talk her into going to get new thermostat.
Dad sent me to go with her to make sure she got new thermostat.
We walked into Home Depot, I looked at thermostats, picked it out took it to register, paid for it.
Before she could find somebody to ask 20 questions too.
From the start of trip to Kansas City till we got back into town, 1 hour, 30 minutes.
Some day we will find them froze to death.
But they do this every year.
Guess we will find out how they will make when both their sons move away.
Youngest son and his family moved 3 years ago with the Air Force.
Middle son is already moved to Colorado for new job.
His family is moving there in 45 days.
Some people have lot of book sense, but no common sense.
People like her make me tired.

Had a gift card from Cabellas that I spent today. Added to my dutch oven collection. Went out to lunch and took the twins. One of our daughters came for supper before she had to go into work. Booted out her live in boyfriend of 3 years. The police came to their apartment to question him about his girlfriend who had just been arrested for filming her 15 yr old daughter in the shower and in her room with hidden cameras and doing God know what with the film. Our daughter had know idea he had a double life. Sad, but now she's getting angry. I told her not to move in with someone. She doesn't listen to her mama. She's planning a trip to Houston to visit her best friend at the end of the week. Said there's an elephant sanctuary there and she can hug some baby elephants. Fair enough.
Twins were invited next door to watch the eclipse with their girls. Quiet house for awhile.

Yesterday woke up and did our scripture study for Sunday , DH and I washed the dishes and cleaned the benches and not a lot else done as it is a day of rest for us.

This morning DH started off with getting the hedge trimmer out and he pruned the star jasmine right back along with another climber with purple flowers, we have no idea what it is but will look it up. He also got out the lawn edger attachment after that and edged the paths in the back yard and yes being so dry here a spark hit the grass and it caught fire but nothing a hose and some water couldn't fix. While DH did that I noticed that 2 window sills needed painting, a window frame and the step to the outdoor toilet so I gave them all their first coat of paint as the were down to the timber.

When I finished I gave DH a hand to pick up all of the prunings from the climbers and put it in the trailer with other dried grass we had cleaned out from the back lean to shed and we went to the tip and disposed of it. Just put on a loaf of bread in the bread making machine and shortly we shall take a dip in our water tank pool to cool off.

Tonight's dinner is going to be bacon and egg sandwiches.

WOW! Creeps like him don't divulge their nasty ways, because they KNOW it is not right and won't be accepted. He may have thought that with her he would have some opportunities for contact with others. And our children often do what they want to, in spite of us as parents counseling them to do otherwise.

The annual cleanup continues for me. I am not working diligently, but working. My dining room table top can be seen again. It has been a dumping ground for so many things. Now I can set up my sewing machine and do some sewing. I have been away from home too many hours to really be able to address my home like I should. It takes time and focus and I have some time now.

I have some orders from my Etsy store that I need to fulfill. They are not on the clock yet, ordered via a private request, so I do want to get them done. I do have a few things I need to get listed on my Etsy store.

I have a bunch of smaller pieces of fleece, some cut out, some not cut out yet, that I am going to sew into child sized mittens. I am not going to list them in my Etsy store, but add them to a craft fair stash, and may donate a bunch to a local Head Start program. I have other items that I have stashed for craft fairs. I have several sewing projects that I want to get finished.
