The run to the city was productive but uneventful. Saw a few Mountain sheep and deer. Last time we saw a pack of wolves, there are plenty about but you don’t typically see them. No prepping supplies purchased but did score 4 wiper blades for my pickup at Costco for just over what on3 would have cost at Canadian Tire.

The same large lady broke two chairs at our school. She kind of plops into things, leans and scoots.
Hard day at work. I had a 2nd grader go nuts and it took 30 minutes for an aunt to come pick up. Meanwhile, mom does call back and lectures me about his behavior. This child is heavily medicated. I didn't know that mom decides to give him med breaks on the weekends. Every weekend. And today was considered part of a weekend to her. So after speaking with her, I realized that she is using the day with us as her son's detox day. It was not pretty.
I did take some time off in the afternoon and had a nice lunch out with husband. A great Italian place. Got the two bottom trays of my worm farm cleaned out and harvested lots and lots of worm poop.
Do you know what meds he is on? Why in the world does she think he needs a detox day? I have seen some of these children have breakdowns, and when it is all over, I was ready to go home, get in bed and curl up in the fetal position. It took everything out of me! I had one student who did this a couple times a week, after P.E. and before lunch. It affected my whole classroom, with him running around like a wild man, yelling and carrying on, turning over furniture. The rest of the children would just try to hide. I almost bet we all got a little PTSD from that. Administration would have me send him to the office. Every try to get a raving lunatic to go somewhere?

You have my sympathy. Glad you got to go out for a nice lunch.

Sweet doghouse, Gumpy!
You made those boards with your chainsaw? Do you have a guide or something? They look very straight and consistent - no way could I do that. (We're thinking about a portable sawmill for all the cedars on our new property that will be coming down.)

We homeschool, so we still had school today. I figured we'd be able to watch an MLK documentary on the History Channel. Nope. They had an American Pickers marathon all day.

Also worked on boiling some whole chickens I'd bought on sale a couple weeks ago and had in the freezer - made freezer meals from the meat, and now the bones, etc are back in the pot with some veggies to make veggie chicken broth to can.

My grandfather learned a rhyme as a child…

For happy dogs in summer

You have to start in May

Put the leaves of the Walnut

Where the dogs lay

It works, black walnut leaves will drive fleas and ticks off my dog. They also worked when my chickens got mites. I sometimes rub walnut leaves on my skin. It will keep mosquitoes away for about 1/2 an hour.

Overnight we had rain that froze. Then we had a gentle snow. The roads were slick and there were plenty of accidents. The first pair of dogs to go out for a walk were interesting. One was ready to go, but the other went and hid when she saw the snow. I coaxed her to go out and we went on a 10 minute walk and both dogs did their business. Mission accomplished. Second dog, an English bulldog, who is about as slow as can be, moved faster than I have ever seen him move. He wanted to get his business done and get back into the house! He made me laugh and laugh. Actually, they all make me laugh. Tomorrow, two new to me dogs.

Even though I'm still recouping from flu.
Walked block to do laundry each way.
When I got to put load in dryer, then I start second load.
By 1700 hours, two loads washed, dried and put away.
Fixed supper, picked up the kitchen, tired now from the laundry.
Going to rest a while, then off to bed.
Might declutter underneath bathroom vanity while I clean house tomorrow.

Youre "The Bomb".

During my Dr Visit. He says "Your Flu Test is Negative". Then he reaches into a supply cabinet, pulls out a Full Bottle of "TamaFlu", hands it to me and says "Could Be A False Negative".
He lives 1 mile from me and is a "Survivalist". Extrapolate the Info. Yeah...Im not just Lucky, Im Blessed. Did I mention that he delivered 2 of his 3 kids at home and is "God Doctor" to Homesteaders(Survivalists) around here? Grew up in Iraq, went to med school there, gave info to CIA and co operated with US Forces, before and During "Sand Box I". His 2 Brothers also. One Brother liked it so much, he was Embedded during Both Sand Boxes and works for the same company that I do. When His Family was Given "The Rewards Package" they chose a very cool last name to describe their Gratitude. One that many Slaves chose after the civil war. My Life is Surreal sometimes.

That is so cool. Way to go, Doc!

Personally I can think of a dozen plants I would use for a cold or flu before I would touch tama-flu in any form. :D

Would you start a thread on some Plants recommended for flu, colds, fever, and other health issues.

I would be interested, .
I like using naturals rather than synthetic chemicals,

Me Too. Im all in when it comes to Naturopathy. Clinical Trials would be nice to see. For now all I can see in that category is Big Pharma Chemicals. I gotta go with what I know. Trust me, its gotta be very dire before I do Tamaflu. Like what experts are predicting. Nice to have something Post SHTF.

We have 2 missionaries coming to dinner tonight so we are doing a quick tidy of everything.

I started off the morning with sweeping the kitchen, laundry, toilet and bathroom and then cleared and wiped over the kitchen table and cleared all the rubbish from around my nest in the lounge room. We then went out and harvested another 1.9kg of cherry tomatoes from the gardens and we have made our bed.

DH has made a 3kg batch of chocolate magic pudding (tastes similar to chocolate YoGo) if anyone has tried that but of course ours has none of the preservatives as we make it from pantry items. He has also made a large pasta salad to last us 2 nights as well from stored pasta, homegrown snow peas and capsicum, tinned corn and of course shop purchased mayonnaise.

We are about to fold up 2 loads of clean laundry and then DH will damp dust the lounge room TV entertainment unit and we will wash up the dishes in the kitchen.

That's an excellent idea!

We might make it into the double digits (temperature wise) by this afternoon. :thumbs up:
Anything more than 10 feet away from the woodstove is just plain cold, lol.
But that's okay, because we're doing school around the kitchen table, and we'll adjust our projects for the rest of the day accordingly. There are always things that need to be done regardless of the temperature - but sometimes it's nice to have this sort of weather that encourages me to do the projects that can be done around the woodstove (mending, sorting and organizing, etc.)

timmie, in this case the "like" button is more of an "I sympathize with you" button.

Toby. RIP... ? -1-16-2017. Beagle, Rescue Dog, like me, Yes I did it. He Injured himself. Spent the night in ceasures , nothing I could do. It was a "Quality Of Life" issue, that I would never apply to a Human, in the same circumstance.
"Mans Best Friend" does not describe. He was "Over And Above". Nuff Said. Thought I had a Picture, turns out I didn't. He died by my will, as if by my own hand. That's the way he wanted it.
