Inventories!
I have been re-organizing my canned goods and other pantry foods, writing the date on the end of the cans with a Sharpie, for those that hadn't been previously labeled. I am changing how I had food organized before, now using wooden crates for various types of foods, such as one for canned beans, one for tomato products, etc. It looks better, so much better! I am not done, have a ways to go. I am throwing little out, but organizing it so I can see what needs to be used soon.
I want to do an updated inventory of just the wet canned goods. I have misplaced my notebook with my f.s. inventory. It is here somewhere! It has pages for all of the dry foods that I have, but have never really done an inventory of other stuff.
Trying to figure out how to track what spices I have, what I need and what is missing. There is the everyday spice rack of small bottles, large containers of Tone's spices, jars of spices I have purchased and repackaged. I have multiples of some small bottles. Garlic powder is what I seem to use the most of. I have lots of garlic growing in the garden, so I have to work that cycle, from garden to spice rack.
I think I need to do a spreadsheet, list all the spices I use or need, inventory what I have, and try to figure out what I need.
Example: I make a chai tea from spices, simmered on the stove. Cinnamon sticks, whole cloves, ginger, cardamom, pepper corns and de-caf black tea. I prefer to make it this way instead of powdered fake food chai. I make it without sugar and add some milk or half and half. I like to make a gallon at a time and keep it in the fridge. I have all the spices that I have purchased in a larger quantity.
I started sewing at the library in November with a woman who wanted some help. Her time is very limited to two hours a week at the most. Set up, clean up and figuring out where we were and what we need eats up time. We both started the same pattern for a fleece jacket. It has been very hit and miss, and I am finally on the home stretch. I decided to make a belt, belt loops and a hanging loop at the back of the neck for hanging it and these are the pieces that are not finished. Other woman doesn't want to follow the written instructions, but spends a lot of time with a seam ripper. Me? I study the instructions, read them and re-read them several times. The jacket is a little large, but is very warm, as it is polar-fleece. I know if I put on a couple layers before I put it on, it will fit better and there are days when layers are better.
