Hubby is putting the new siding up on the last wall of the front porch. Its where the front door is. There was a window on either side of the door and he's taken those out and filled in the holes with plywood.
What he finished yesterday came out real nice

This will be all the remodeling he does until probably Nov when its cooler
I've done another load of washing in between cleaning up any mess hubby makes and I made him brunch so he's back at it.
I have to fold the laundry and put it away
I also have to wash my hair so I don't have to do it tomorrow when we go out for breakfast
Since it friday it'll be soup and sandwiches for supper

DragonL.that looks nice and we too are finishing up outside projects till cooler weather.

Super glad it's Friday. Our little village is all backed up. We have three ways out of our village. One has been blocked for road work for 2 months. They just blocked another exit for ???? and it took me 15 minutes to drive the 3/4 mile home from work. So now there's only one way out. Not too bright.
Going to get a smoothie with husband and then to get animal feed at Tractor Supply in town.

I finally figured something out that has bugged me for a while. My favorite local weather radar on their website...

Without zooming in there is a tiny spec on their background map that doesn't exists near my home.

Tonight I realized that the storm cloud data is current. The background map isn't! The background map is a satellite image from 3 or 4 years ago. 4 miles up the road there was a large track of timber clear cut... 3 to 4 hundred acres...

That's what that tiny light colored spec on their website weather radar map is.

Now I no longer have to zoom in to see the weather near me...

Peanut, what site do you use for your weather radar? I' use Wunderground.com most times. But I usually look at several and compile my own opinion.

Your home is looking fabulous and it is well worth doing the work yourselves as it saves so much money over hiring a trades person to do it for you. Here in Australia the magic hourly rate of most trades people is $80 an hour and then of course they charge a call out fee too. We would soon be broke if we had to call tradespeople out to do everything for us as most people do. You are fortunate that your husband and yourself are handy like DH and I.

We are willing to give everything a go but know when we don't have the necessary skills to do something and will call a trades person in. Then while they are doing said job we watch them so we know how to do it ourselves later if the need arises. Electrical is illegal to do DIY here but we have a friend who is an electrician who gives us mates rates along with many other friends who are trades people and builders by trade.

Yes lol Hubby is in Construction and has been his whole life ( well except when he was in the Corp of Engineers). He knows people in all the Trades around here.
We also don't mess with electricity. We get someone to come and do it

Started off the morning with DH putting on a load of washing in the washing machine and put it in the dryer as it is raining today and then he vacuumed the whole house to get rid of the rest of the fluffy insulation floating around everywhere.

We then made the bed with fresh sheets and folded up 3 loads of washing and put it away and DH cleaned the benches and washed the dishes and I wiped them and put them away. Since it is church tomorrow we decided to cook all our weekly yummies tonight and DH and I made two apple pies (one for church and one for us), a batch of magic mix white sauce/pudding premix and a double batch of choc chip and coconut queen biscuits. DH is also made a chicken, mushroom and tomato homemade pizza for dinner.

We went through our medication list to find which dates we went to the doctor in the large town further from us as well as the dates for his physio appointments and worked out the mileage so DH can claim travel allowance for them in one bulk lot. Both of us had forgotten about his travel allowance so we will take it back to January to get recouped for our fuel usage. The Veteran's affairs does pay a generous subsidy enough to cover fuel and some maintenance on our vehicle too so we can't complain. We couple DH's physio and medical appointments with our grocery and other shopping to save on mileage and fuel costs.

We did our usual breakfast out at the Diner in town
Then went to Walmart so hubby could get his beer and I picked up 2 more cases of half gallon mason jars for storage of dried foods
Hubby finished the siding on the front porch so everything is back to where it should be now. So different without the windows on either side of the door

Don't mind the muddy paw prints on the storm door lol Bella has a bad habit of jumping up on it when she has dirty feet. Bandit just licks it lol He's a door licker ( such a goof)
I made some cookies
Hubby's mowing now
And I'm considering washing the towels but maybe not. I might just read some and listen to a ball game on the radio if I can find one
Gonna send hubby out to get supper for us. I'm leaning towards pizza since I haven't had any for a time

Went to Sams this morning, did a big shopping, and got it all put away. Did animals round one. Selling eggs (7 dz so far). Grandson back from Boy Scout camp, in shower, and I'm waiting for his laundry. Granddaughter has friend spending the night, and grandson's friend coming tomorrow for the day and for their birthday dinner, as well as our daughters and son. Need to clean house, change bedding, and get some gifts wrapped, but for now, I've been catted by old man cat, so I can't move.

Went back up the mountain to work on that house. It's nearly empty and getting cleaner. I can't keep track of when I mowed this lawn and that one or scrubbed this tub or that one- oy! Will be glad when I only have one house to keep up with.
Hubby went dirt bike riding. When I got back into service (off the mountain) there was a message to call him. The motor on his bike blew up. Sooo, for his birthday next week, it looks like he's getting a new bike. It's a chunk of change, but the 2020s are coming out soon so he is getting a really good deal on a '19. We had been talking saying he needed a new bike - guess it's just sooner rather than later.

After my job was abolished on May 24 I bumped in on a new work gang just 75 miles from my home. I didn't know they were moving to Milwaukee this week. So I've spent the last two days up there. I'd forgotten how gorgeous some of Wisconsin is, and I had forgotten how much Milwaukee sucks. Lol. It's only six hours from home though, which is actually pretty close compared to how far I usually go for work...now I'm off for 7 days and other than fixing a door, I got no plans other than to fish, cook out, and go to the movies with my kid. Summer is good that way!;)

I use a tv station in Birmingham. I get the weather map but also get local news, sports etc. Occasionally I'll check the national weather service maps for a big picture look at major systems. The local tv stations has direct links to the NWS.

Started off the morning with going to sacrament and Relief Society and we had a wonderful time and stayed for Soup Sunday and socialised with a lot of people. We took back the two packets of insulation batts we didn't use to the hardware store and got a refund. Stopped a few times on the way home to have a walk around as we are both still stiff from our roof insulation installation limboing.

Back home where DH had a nap and now we are having a nice cup of hot chocolate and a couple of homemade chocolate chip and coconut handmade biscuits.

Took last week off from websites for 5 days of Vacation Bible School. I worked in kitchen making koolaid, cupcakes, brownies and rice krispie treats. And washing dishes and cleaning, of course. Along with animal chores, cooking at home and keeping up with garden and exercising, I was pooped!

Today, I am catching up here, already done vitamins for the month, washed dogs, and did my exercise video. Skipped Church this morning and not sure about this evening yet.

I sure you earned it Spike, your avatar alone sounds like a man of hard work. Have fun with the family.

Worked in the garden all day. Pulled a lot of weeds, planted some flowers along the edge of the garden, put the new half wine barrels on their stands and filled them with potting soil. A guy is selling wine barrels cut in half the long way with metal stands for $60. They look really nice so we bought 2. Then pulled more weeds. I have the garden weed free, for now, but as everyone knows weeds grow faster than just about anything else so I will be back to weeding soon. Spent an hour looking for the missing cat. Found her on the outside of the fence. While I was putting her back in the yard she scratched me and jumped out of my arms. Hurt her leg but I think she's OK now. Still hiding under my bed. I think she is mad at me.

Round 1 of today is that we have gone out into the garden and dug the rest of the kangaroo garden enclosure post holes and hit a few tree roots along the way which snapped the post hole digger to one side and sprained one of my thumbs and took off a chunk of skin on the other thumb, but I survived :) and DH like me is sore. Really it is a two large man operation to hold the thing so I did well to even hang on to it as I think most women, especially my little size, would have struggled to even hold it. We had previously dug the post holes down to 40 cm on our garden learning day here with DH and another male friend holding the other side but they hit clay or hard dirt. Thinking ahead a couple of days ago we filled the holes with water to soften the soil in the holes and it rained too. It was enough for us to get the post holes dug to 60 + cm each and we have stood the posts up inside the holes.

Around here you don't need to concrete in posts because of how hard the ground is but instead just ram the dirt around the posts and they stay put. DH has also put on a loaf of bread in the bread making machine and it will be ready shortly for a later lunch. We are having a lovely cup of hot chocolate and we opened the windows and pulled back the curtains to let the sun shine into the house to warm up the inside which it has done nicely and we just closed them all again to keep the heat in.

We have not had to put on the slow combustion fireplace on the last couple of nights as it has warmed up a bit at night.

Round 2 of today is that we had nice warm showers and DH washed the dishes and cleaned the benches and I wiped them and put them away.

Just made the shopping list out for tomorrow as we will be doing our remaining monthly grocery shop after picking up a lot of specials last week out of the budget. About to load the washing into the washing machine ready to start for the morning as we will be heading to DH's physiotherapy appointment.

Counting. 20 days, 10 hours, 45 minutes and 27 seconds till my retirement.

Hubby decided (at the moment) to stay until the end of the year so he still has 6 months. I'm moving up the mtn with the kid in July. We are hoping she's doing well enough to finish school up there.

I was tired and now that I don't work for a living I am RE-tired. :)

@The Lazy L woohoo! Congrats. From what I hear, you will love it. I am hoping to find out for myself some day :)
@Meerkat That's a lot of carrots! Do you slice or dice them? Quart jars makes quite a few. If I do carrots, I use half pints which is a little tedious, but that's all we use at a time. Or do you have a special carrot recipe? Nothing beats fresh rinsed with the garden hose.
Worked today, nothing too exciting. Ready for bed.

Ouch is the word of the day and yes we are both really sore from our post hole digging with the post hole auger yesterday. We are both walking like a cowboy who has ridden a horse for a month but it will probably be a bit better tomorrow.

Started off the morning with putting on a load of washing in the washing machine, hanging it on the clothes line and watering with the grey water. We then headed off for DH's physiotherapy appointment in a town around 45 km away one way and we did the rest of our monthly shop apart from a few things we will pick up on Thursday from a cheaper store.

Brought the groceries inside and we packed away the cold items and may leave the rest to pack away tomorrow. I got the load of washing off the clothes line and brought it inside. Then I went back through some more of DH's doctor's appointments from this financial year that we will claim travel allowance on those as well. We should be pretty much caught up after that and will put claims in every 8 trips or so.

Apart from that we are relaxing and tonight's dinner was shop purchased mini sausage rolls, cocktail spring rolls and chips and dessert was the last 1/3 rd of our homemade apple pie.

We usually have seconds when we cook meals plus we use half quart a couple times a month in dog food. But mainly it it easier to go ahead and can lots while the canner is out.
We cut them all kinds of shapes. Pic is in food prep forum here.

Bathed dogs washing clothes working on van.
