The unit at the previous house was a cube and had a tray and pump with aspen pads on three sides. The pump pushed the water from the tray to a drip 'spider' in the roof of the unit that dripped down to the aspen pads on the sides. The fan would pull air through the damp pads and into the house on the fourth side. Our portable unit is a plastic box that has one pad not three.

Where you been ? I need some beauty advice.:D Remember our conversation about moisturizer, well I may be past that now. :)

LOL! Ask away!

The oldest kid called and said her a.c. was out. She's had a headache and felt horrible all day. I told her to take a cool shower because it sounded like she was over heating. Guess I'm heading out to help her get a new unit tomorrow.

The fire out near our mtn place is getting closer. Its 6 miles away on a flat map but its on the other side of a mountain chain in reality. Still to close for comfort. Need to remember go call our ins agent and make sure he got our new solar system on the policy.

Oh my we were in fire danger last week, finally got rain. Terrie, hope yours it gets under control soon.

We are vacuum sealing onions and garlics.

And second guessing hauling boat to ICW. My van gears don't like inclines and could end up in the canal. It was a nice day trip checking it out though.
Guess we won't go chasing huge waters just keep rolling down the rivers close by.
We use to rent a boat but thats closed now. Guess some clown sued em out of biz.

Ok I tried the coconut oil, olive oil and I'm still not happy with results. So I'm now using baby oil and baby lotion.
What do you think of that?

Baby oil is a petroleum product. You really don't want to use that at all even on babies.

If olive oil and/or coconut oil are not working play around with different oils till you find one that works! We are talking about the oil cleansing method for face, correct? If so are you just trying to replace a face wash or are you trying to correct a skin issue?

Most natural beauty products require a detox period before you see results. I switched to shampoo bars this year (I have over a hundred stored so I figured what the hell). It took a few weeks before my hair stopped getting uber greasy the next day. Now I have a whole hair wash routine with natural products that makes my hair look freshly washed for up to a week before the greasies show up.

I agree petroleum products do have a bad rep so guess will stop using them And go back to the coconut and other moisturizers .
What kind of bar shampoo do you use?

Coconut oil is one of the few oils that will not dehydrate tissues.
It normally will work to clean the skin and personal areas better than most other products.
It is simply the best personal lubricant you can have.

What type of bar are you using? I've tried a few different kinds and my hair feels like straw.

I use J.R. Liggett's bar shampoo and Avalon Organics Apple Cider Vinegar conditioner or the Lavender conditioner. The bar does take a lot out of my hair but using cold/cool water to rinse and the conditioner with a cold water rinse helps a lot. Hot/warm water seems to strip my hair even more.

I use a homemade oil mask once a month or more if my hair feels really dry which it doesn't really.

Grimm I bet you won't like these tow women I watch for make up advice, Rxstrmon and Monique.

I don't use a lot of makeup. My personal view is less is more. I wear mascara and eyeliner (both are brown for a more natural look) and lip gloss or tinted balm. I do have an extensive nightly routine but it is not as long as most women's makeup routine. I focus on my eyes and lips. I have sensitive skin so I have to be flexible to change things if a product or treatment causes a reaction. So far I can use a lot of my products but spaced out. I love Derma E Microdermabrasion Scrub. I use it a couple times a month or a get patchy red skin but most people can use it more often.

I did just start using a sonic face brush to cleanse. (I had a Clarisonic but they didn't honor their warranty when it broke after 3 months so I now use a Braun.) I like it better than my fingers/hands or a cloth. I am toying with the idea of a microneedle roller.

I mostly wear lipstick and a little light eyeshadow right under brow for little highlight.
I do watch the ladies above it is entertaining to me to see them work at it. I haven't worn mascara in years. I will use a little primer sometimes, but very little foundation.
Anyway thanks again for advice. I checked out the Clarisonic, it is a little pricey, huh?

Yesterday DH vacuumed the whole house and I deep cleaned the bathrooms and toilets and mopped all the floors. The floors were horribly dirty from us doing the insulation so I really had to scrub with the mop to get them clean. We also put on a load of washing each and hung it on the clothes line to dry and then went to the RSL for our weekly date day and had a couple of soft drinks and played a few games of pool.

This morning so far we have folded up 3 loads of clean washing and put it away and stripped the bed and remade it with clean sheets and force fed the cat her worming tablet as she now won't eat it crushed in her food , clever little thing smells it in there and refuses point blank to eat the food. Shortly we will wash up the dirty dishes and clean the benches in the kitchen and I will wipe them and put them away. We both really slept in this morning but we are finally not feeling muscle sore from digging the post holes with the post hole auger earlier in the week.

@Meerkat I find if my skin is really dry I do a scrub in the shower with olive oil and sugar and then shower as usual, it slothes off the dead skin and makes your skin feel moisturised for days.

I use Palmer's cocoa butter and if my skin is really dry I add a couple of capsules of natural vitamin e oil to it. It really is nourishing for the skin and vitamin e oil is also good to use neat around your eyes. I use this on my whole body and it works as I have very sensitive and dry skin.

Sewing this makes sense, thanks for the recipe. I will try it. I don't use soap a lot just table salt, water and scrub with rough rag. Then olive oil [ or baby oil which won't use that now ] Soap doesn't stop body odor it can actually create it. Sometimes we do a Epsom Salts bath too with lemons.

The price was another reason I went with the Braun face brush. I got mine from walmart and got a free $25 giftcard for the purchase.

It was a good day...I got some farm fresh eggs from a lady at church who has started raising layers. She had a setback, the gnats have been so bad that they clogged her hens' nostrils and suffocated almost half of them. It's almost that bad for pets and humans too right now...

But on the good side, my daughter and I found some cheap clothes for her, a Skill jigsaw and a few wrenches for me, and a couple movies and assorted trinkets at the town-wide garage sales. Tonight we went to see "Aladdin" at the luxury theatre with reclining seats, a burger menu, and a craft beer menu. We didn't get any of that, but she loved the show. Afterward we drove around and talked and teased each other and just enjoyed each other's company in a way that doesn't often happen any more. My heart is good tonight!

Need to get chores going, and thinking about butchering our Red Rangers since I'm home. Will have to round up the grandkids to help. Need to plan something for dinner and for Father's Day tomorrow, as the groceries I bought were intended for communal eating and celebrations at the farm. Husband will probably be fine with a T-bone.

Thats a sweet story Spike. And it is not ordinary for sure.

@Meerkat just my opinion but wouldn't using salt all the time for washing dry out the skin ?. Have you tried bathing using any of the soapless body washes such as QV or others which have less harmful chemicals in them than actual soap. Quite often you can pick them up at large pharmacies really cheaply in their brands.

No really if you use it to exfoliate and then rinse well.Plus it has some anti-bacteria benefits.
I only use it a few times a week then moisturize while still damp from shower or bath.
Everything in moderation. I will use soap about once a week but who knows whats in the stuff now.
