Went up the mountain to mow and work on the place. It was sprinkling when I started and just after I finished, turned into a downpour. We needed it! Wheat farmers won't be happy, but we needed it nonetheless. Afterward, went to neighboring town to pick up "new" recliner for hubby. (New to us, good shape, leather.). Got home and pickled another dozen and a half eggs, processed tomatoes, did dishes and cleaned up. Now sitting since it's almost 7.
@Spikedriver Things like staying to play dominos are what make the fondest memories.
@MoBookworm1957 I bet it's beginning to look nice. It's rewarding to look out and see your accomplishments.
@hashbrown Happy Anniversary! What a great pix! Nothing like a crowd to make you appreciate solitude;-)
@The Lazy L Sounds like a perfect Sunday morning.

Started off the morning with just relaxing and then went down to the RSL club to help and found no-one there so DH set up the tables and chairs and I cleaned the tops, seats and outside of the toilets and some of the floor where there was spills and swept around them.

Came home and I made one curtain for the kitchen to stop the warm air from the fire going out the kitchen door as the cat has to get in and out. DH put up the curtain ends and rod and the curtain is now hung and keeping lots of the heat now in the home and the cat is happy too. I started sewing a second set of curtains for the window at the top of the stairs into the rumpus room and one is almost done.

I made out a list of things to do for when we go to town tomorrow for DH's medical appointment.

Saturday after we went to breakfast at a local diner and went to walmart we came home changed clothes and then tore down most of the old rail on one side of the front porch ramp.
I painted the posts with a stain/preservative while hubby replaced the one post. It was rotting where it gets all the water that runs off the pathway.
Sunday hubby put the new railing up.
I would put up a picture but its telling me that the file is too large which is silly because I've posted pics from my phone on here before. But whatever lol
Its looks real nice just like on the back deck. We still have the other side to do though. We may get to it this coming weekend
I washed his work clothes
Swept the floors that needed it
made supper

Today its in the 90's again so the ac is back on but boy was it nice and cool and just beautiful for a couple of days. It was nice to open the windows and sleep with them open
Got my shower
Made cookies
Did a load of dishes
Had lunch ( leftovers lol)
Now just cruising the "Net"
Sometime this week I have go to the restaurant supply store. They have a sale going on

Truck and trailer are unloaded, chicken pen is built and the chickens are in it. I was going to register the kid in school today but I went off and forgot her ss card, birth certificate and shot records. They are in the safe which is allllll the way back down the mountain. Guess she's gonna start next week instead.
I'm beat. Time for a nap!!!

Help. The washer has been giving me fits for a few years. It finally was making some very unusual loud breaking noises and shut off before the cycle was complete. Tried restarting it, it shut off again. Tried again but did not feel good about what I was doing.
I think it was @backlash mentioning Maytag as a good brand. The one I have is a front loader high efficiency Whirlpool. Bought 10-11 years ago.
Probably not going to get a high efficiency this time.
Have been looking at prices, nothing is under $400. I do not feel good about buying a used washer.

Cleaning and setting up AC in dog house. Need to put shade clothe over because the sun shines on it till about 3 pm.
So we have to take the shade clothe off greenhouse to make an awning over dog house. AC works good we have it connected but without shade it will be too hot and run too much.
The old mutts are in my bathroom and I'm tired of mopping it everyday after I put them out for the night.
These two are only 12 and not nearly as healthy a our old Alice was at 17.

@Patchouli I am not sure what brands of washing machines you have over there but we own a Samsung 6kg load HE front loading washing machine and we find it very good and it washes well. The prices of them are quite reasonable over here and probably there. We like it for a lot of reasons because it uses little water and has many cycles on it to choose from and you can choose how many rinses etc that you want on each load.

I will say don't buy Bosch front loading HE washing machines as the electronic panels die on them in no time and dare I say it I don't think they are good quality at all.

Another bad day healthwise but I had to get groceries. Since I’ve been in and out of the hospital I decided to buy some oversized T-shirts at TS. Went to WM for the bulk of the groceries. Stopped by the big box store for a new shower head w/handheld wand. Stopped by the high price grocery store for a few special items than grabbed a box of popeyes chicken on the way out of town…

It was hot today, bad hot, 101 degrees on the bank clock. The heat index was 110-112 degrees. Another reason I went shopping today instead of tomorrow. The humidity was the saving grace, only 36%. The weatherman says the humidity will be back up to normal by 4am tomorrow… 84%. The weather stations are giving extreme heat advisories for tomorrow. When the temp is over 100 and the humidity is over 80% people start to die. When the weather people in Bama give extreme heat warnings… believe them!

It got really hot on the way home. The DOT had blocked one lane of a state highway for 1.5 miles, had flagmen and escort cars out. They were trimming road side tree limbs. After I had been stopped for about 15 minutes I noticed my engine temp had climbed about 20 degrees, not over heating but getting warm.

I rolled down the windows and turned off the A/C. Within 5 minutes the temp in my truck cab had climbed to 105 which I doubt, it was no more than a balmy 102. At the 27 minute mark I was still waiting and the state police showed up. A school had let out north of me. The state police escorted 9 school buses of kids through this mess. A good thing even though it cost me another 10 minutes of waiting. I bet those kids were baking on those buses. I suspect someone from the school had called the state police.

Anyway, made it home just in time for the rest of my new bed to be delivered. I can finally stop sleeping in my recliner. :)

@Peanut you are so right about the humidity and heat and people begin to die, usually those stuck in homes or apartments with no AC or don't want to use much electric and no one to check on them. So sad.
Didn't you just buy a washer in the past year or so (thank you to forum search terms). I hope you start feeling better.
@Sewingcreations15 I should have asked you 10 years ago! That was when I bought the Bosch and we see where I am now.
We have Samsung models here. I am amazed at the prices of any brand though. How long have you had yours?
Not Bosch, Whirlpool

Not a washer. I was refrigerator shopping, got a new about a year ago. Sorry I can't help. :(

Glad you can rest now. Get well soon Peanut.:flower:

Oh,just hangin' out.......

in more ways than 1
@squirrelhunter behave. You don't want Angie to bring down the thunder...:waiting: :D

@Patchouli only thing I know about washers, is do not get a Fisher & Paykel washer. My folks had one and if you put any kind of a heavy dirty load in it, everything came out with mud streaks all over. Samsung and LG seem to be solid brands from what I hear...and Speed Queen is what a lot of laundromats use, but I don't know a lot about their home washers...

Aw, thanks, @Spikedriver . Sometimes I read too fast and almost thought you were advising me to not get a Fisher Price washer. LOL I have never heard of Fisher & Paykel anyway.
I think I found a good price on a Samsung, new. My son tried to talk me into getting a used washer but I figure people usually get rid of their appliances for a reason. Speed Queen is fairly high priced. Consumer reports helped.
Spending a little time at the laundromat tonight was something i don't want to have to do much. Forgot I had a dryer that worked just fine back at home. LOL

@Patchouli we have had our Samsung front loader for about 6 years now and it hasn't missed a beat and has easy filters so you can clean them out without a problem and also has a drum clean cycle with hot water @95 oc. With all washers though if you need to stain remove and do it before putting the washing through the machine. Not sure about the stain removing jets though that may well do the stain removing for you. Ours does have a pretty strong flow of water in it anyway.

@Spikedriver is saying don't get a Fischer and Paykel washing machine.

What I do is when I am thinking of buying an appliance is Google customer reviews of the model you are about to buy. That way you can see whether there is any problems with the model.

Went into town early this morning and went shopping for groceries in Aldi and topped up on tinned smoked chicken and bought two long life tins of spaghetti and sausages and baked beans and sausages to try them out. If we like them we will add them to our stockpile items. Also dropped into IGA and picked up 6 packets of wholemeal and white bread rolls on clearance and some fruit to top us up. DH also went for his medical appointment and we had lunch.

We then went to the hardware store and returned a curtain we bought as I found I had enough material to get all the curtains made for the back room. With the refund we purchased our o'rings for the log splitter and got some money back besides.

Then to the service station to top up on 4 jerries of fuel and we topped up the car too and as luck would have it as we were waiting the price got reduced by 2 c per litre and we used our supermarket rewards card to get another 4 c off per litre and used our roadside assistance fuel e-voucher to get another 5% off that price bringing the price down to $1.197 instead of $1.307. A really good price for fuel around here since recently it was almost $1.50 per litre.

Got home and dated, rotated and packed away our groceries. Tonight's dinner was the other half of our homemade quiche and dessert was tinned pears and homemade custard.

Will be in and out today so may not be online much this week. It is suppose to cool off some so much to do thats been put off.
This morning washed and bleached all the hens feeders and waters. Next clean out chicken pens and re-cover hugelkulture pile ,etc, etc, etc,.

Hope all are having a good day and for those who aren't ,

:huggs:

Granddaughter's last day with us, have to put her on the plane tomorrow morning. I showed her how to use the apple peeler and we filled two dehydrators with apple and pear slices. Have about 8 more buckets to do, but will freeze some. Took her shopping for some school clothes, went Sams shopping and had a slice of pizza and a coke icee together. Bumped into an old prepper friend I haven't seen in a few years, and found out her husband passed last month. Very sad. Told her I retired, so we'll be getting together soon when I get back from the farm.

Yesterday I bought a new shower head with a wand attachment. Problem... The wand hose is about 20” shorter than I need (it’s a std 5ft length x 1/2"). Today I picked up a 30” piece of braided 1/2-inch flex-line for faucets, sinks etc. The connectors at each end had female threads just like the wand hose. The store had a 1” long piece of 1/2" brass that was male threaded its entire length, perfect adaptor. So now I have a 90” wand hose. A little long but works fine, not bad fix for $8.

At least I accomplished something positive today. :)

It's been crazy at work last few weeks. We've got 8 fairly large projects running the last few months, and 3 more on the books. Designing the systems we need, finding and ordering equipment, parts, etc, writing Work Packages (primarily for safety). The lining up the labor to perform the work along with out normal monthly calibrations and PM's. Couple weeks ago we finished 1 of them. Spent last week and more time this week getting a second moving along,(we are following a subcontractor and ended up waiting on them parts of 3 different days. Hopefully that one will be done next week. 3 more are assembled and waiting on another sub to demo the locations they go in at and we get to move them in and hook them up. Last I heard is that may happen in the next 2-5 weeks. 2 others are involving a lot of others so I have no control and don't have any idea when they will keep moving along. #8 has been a solar project to power some 28 monitors around the lab. I've got a crew working this weekend and hoping they finish them up. Should like no more than 2 at the worst. I've had 2 guys out for between 1 and 5 months since Feburary, so I have been pushing the others to pick up the slack, lots of overtime, borrowing techs from other groups when I can. The guys are going to enjoy getting a break at some point.
I found out 2 weeks ago we were givin the go ahead for another project that has to be finished by the end of September. I've got everything ordered and some already arrived. We are going to install as much of the system as we can next weekend. The rest of the system won't arrive till mid September, but it should take more than a few days to finish the install and test it out. The other 2 projects are not likely to happen this late in the FY, so likely to be put off till next year.
And to top it off, one of my techs is going out for knee surgery on the 27th, so more work to pass off to someone else. I'm trying to get a plan put together to show how badly I need another tech in my group. I sure hope that takes root and works out.

Today I started off the morning with doing a load of washing and hanging it on the line and DH followed up with his load and watered the shrubs, star jasmine, canna and calla lilies and spider plants with the grey water from the grey water tank. He then went to the local pub to pick up the fish and chips ordered for the RSL club and put them in the freezers and then installed the new grey water sullage hose and sprinkler we purchased for the club for which we were reimbursed.

While he was away doing that I sewed another set of curtains for the top of the stairs and when DH arrived back he installed the curtain rods and rails and I hung them and put the curtain ends on them.

This afternoon we folded up 4 loads of clean laundry and put it away and DH washed the dishes and cleaned the benches and I wiped them and put them away. I then made out the monthly shopping list for tomorrow and we need very little.

Tonight's dinner was bacon and egg sandwiches.
