Jim I saw the photos before I read what you wrote and thought you were up here! That looks a lot like a ferry that is close to us!

Good to see you again Mr Hashbrown.

I hope Mrs Hasbrown the canning superstar is doing well.
I use to love seeing pics of your garden and all the awesome canning efforts Mrs Hashbrown put in.
The lady is a well oiled canning machine.
Her output was just staggering.

Howdy Tank-Girl! Hope all is well with you! Everyone is good and I'm actually glad the canning is pretty much done for the year.

Today was productive. We are almost 100% done packing up the spare room. We have only been packing for the move since Wed and that room was stuffed so full you couldn't walk in more than a few feet. K made a huge donation of outgrown toys and clothes to Goodwill and even touched up paint and clean that room.

We were given notice on Wed. We have to move by Dec 1. So we figured we'd get the messiest and clutter filled rooms packed first and it would be down hill from there. I am trying a color coding system to packing this time. Each room is a different color label. When we make the move the rooms will have colored tags. Just match the labels with the door tag.

Have I mentioned lately how much I hate lazy scumbag landlords who don't want to make necessary repairs then evict tenants for asking the be fixed anyway?

Did a lot of things today but nothing got accomplished. Took daughter to a craft fair, went to an old fashioned diner for brunch, took her shopping, went to dinner with my parents, and now helping her study the Revolutionary War. Nice to see her school is still teaching the same version I learned. They do throw in some politically correct stuff here and there though...

I spent the entire day working on our hot tub. I decided this morning it was time to fill it for the fall and winter. I got it filled and went to kick on the breaker and the gfi would immediately trip. So i pulled the side panel and started testing, motors tested good lights were fine moved on to the control panel and it was fine which only left the heater which tested bad. Our local plumbing supply store used to sell hot tubs so i thought they may have a few parts so I loaded up and headed into town. Ive done business with these people for 30 years when I got there I told them what I needed and he said we have some parts but no one knows what they fit anymore he told me to go in the back and dig around. I did and found the exact heating element I needed along with a ozone sanitizer and 4 new padded headrests that looked as they might work. I drug all of this up to the counter and asked what the total came to? He told me it was mine if I could use it! I got home installed all of the new parts and got my hot tub repaired without spending a penny! It's heating now looks like it will be heater up to 104 degrees and be ready for a soak in another hour or so.

Bet your glad that it didn't cost an arm and a leg to fix it.
Another project done.

Enjoy

They are nice in cold weather.

@Grimm I've used the "room color code system" for several moves. It worked well for me. Wish you luck at your new place... Have one picked out yet?

No new place yet. We have been looking but everything on the market is REALLY expensive. We have been in the current place since Juju was 6 months. She just turned three. The place before we moved in in 2014. You'd think a landlord would love tenants that paid with a money order on time every month.

Sounds difficult... I had similar happen... I put everything in storage and lived in a camper buying time until I found a good place that fit my criteria... but I didn't have 2 little ones to see after. Kids will bounce back fine though, not nearly so difficult as most parents would think... make it an adventure.

Hi Grimm ,
Hate it that you are being torc dbto move.
Sounds like a cheap jerk

How are the babies?

Jim

Roo is turning 8 this October! She is sooooo big! When I first joined the forum-that-shall-not-be-named she was less than a year old! Juju turned three in September. She is a feisty one too! Big sister is a tomboy and scatter-brained and little sister is uber girly and fussy.

Like Peanut said, the kids will be fine, they are more resilient than grown ups.
Hope you find a better place and a better landlord.

Keep on truckin.

Jim

Just because... I went and put in my info and the kids info and realized that its the Express Vitals site that charges the huge fees. $49 fee from EV and $22 from Tx. $79 for a birth certificate!

Edited to add... Fortunately I found a cheaper website to order them from. I don't know why I can't just order them from the states directly...

Missouri charges $10 for birth certificates at the county Health Department. You might check with your local health department first.

Here in California everyone wants a one year lease even on trailers and mobile homes.

My folks were going to help us find a place but my mom is having issues with her pacemaker. She just had to have a third surgery to repair it. She has had the damn thing less than a year. I don't want to stress her out.

I found a few perfect places but they are out in the sticks deep in the mountains. K is working on the NFL headquarters building in Inglewood and the drive as it is in over 3 hours to get home. We can't afford anything closer to his job site. The prices get more expensive the closer to the metro area you get.

Test driving a new dog. We have a high speed high energy high social need 3 year old female border collie. Brought home a 5 year old neutered 3/4 Border Collie 1/4 Marama. Border collie smart but laid back and a little lazy. Hopefully the two will offset each other. Day one went well.if all works out I will post pics of both in due course.

Aren't things a bit cheaper over around Riverside and Colton? I've worked over there, and I know it's still quite expensive, but not like being in the immediate LA area...

We live out by the casinos. Still ridiculous for a 3 bd rental but cheaper than Riverside's metro area. We use to live down the mountain from Big Bear but even that is getting too expensive for a small place. Arrowhead is cheaper but adds to the commute. We still have 7 weeks to find a place.

Today we went to church this morning and DH was set apart as the secretary. It was a good day and we had a lot of good conversations with people.

When we got home DH had a nap and we had planned to cook a few things for the week but time got away from us so we will do the weekly baking tomorrow morning instead. Probably study some scriptures tonight and catch up on a few lessons. DH has just watered the kangaroos and wallabies, potted fruit trees and herbs with the rain water we had left in the rainwater tank and set the drip irrigation system off to water the gardens. Still a bit more saved rainwater to use tomorrow on the plants.

Tonight's dinner is homemade chicken, capsicum and mushroom pizza and tinned pears for dessert. It feels good to have a relaxing day to recharge for the rest of the week.

Worked yesterday from just before 8am until just after Midnight. Spent most of it working command and operations but did get to go out and show my uniform to the general public for a while too. I only got involved with a couple arrests but never as a primary just a cover unit (rank pays better but it is a lot less fun). The dust needs to settle yet but when I left things were getting even busier and we were already well over 175 arrests on the day and countless summons / citations. We only had one SWAT call out before I left and only 2 threat interventions, one of which being a man with mental health issues who broke into some women's apartment. Her and her roommate woke up to find him sitting in their room between their two beds, pointing a kitchen knife at them, one at a time, saying "you're dead noooo you're dead". The one woman managed to dial 911 on her cordless phone and dispatch traced the line. A couple anti-crime officers walked in and grabbed him with "the least amount of force necessary to affect his arrest". Regardless this stuff will hopefully wind down today and life will return to normal. I know I am planning on having a very low key day.
