@MoBookworm1957 ..arrgh..don't over do it..let it heal.;):D

Well, wife wants to visit the Walmart at Fort Campbell.
Ok
That also means she wants to visit White Castle..
It's only an hour's drive.

I need to get out anyway.

Jim
It's okay Jim.
Everything I did yesterday had a 30-45 min rest, nap elevated knee and iced.

Haven't done much today.
Sons are sightly peeved.
They think I'm overdoing.
After all mom. you only had surgery a week ago today.
So had good visit with sons and grand daughter this morning.
We had lunch, they watched me and grand daughter do my exercises.
I'm in bed with my knee elevated, iced again watching NOVA -The Planets.

Just bought a 2018 Honda CR-V EX with 29K miles. A replacement for the wife’s 2007 Pontiac.

Very nice. I bought my wife a 1998 Honda CR-V in 2000. We put over 280,000 miles on it over a 19 year period with only a few serious repairs or parts replacements. The label "boringly reliable" comes to mind.

Good! Rest up and keep healing!

The CR-V is fairly popular among my co-workers. We drive 30,000 miles a year or more, so reliability is Paramount. Nobody ever has a bad word to say about the CR-V...

More progress here at hospital central. Dad had his first physical therapy today which consisted of help getting out of bed into a chair and help getting out of the chair back into bed, a step in the right direction.

Doc said she wants to get him out of ICU into a regular room tomorrow, another good sign. He had a MRI just before dinner. Had a pain shot afterwards so he slept through dinner. I have a chic-filet grilled chicken waiting when he wakes. Not much else going on here.

I hope everyone else is well or getting that way! :)

Had lunch with an old friend today. Then some grocery shopping. Had to bring my own bags since Albuquerque passed a new law banning plastic. Little granddaughter made it back home on the bus. The twins stood out there waiting with me, one wearing a horse mask, the other an alpaca mask. She cracked up. I think tomorrow she's being greeted with the full blow up t rex costume.

Morgan is very tolerant, he forgives my many errors.

We are all very lucky not to be graded on spelling, grammar, and penmanship. I guess that is one of the advantages of computers. We will always love you, Meerkat. always enjoy your posts, and you sharing your knowledge. That is what this forum is all about.

I'm home with time to do laundry, basically reload for another week of dad in the hospital (possible). News, the MRI showed a bone infection, lumbar. They have to sample the infection to treat it with the correct antibiotics. Whether this entails bringing a team from the main hospital across town or moving dad over there is still up in the air. The family prefers the former. One thing is for sure, he won't be going to a regular room today.

Anywho, best get busy with getting reorganized and repacked. :)

got laundry done yesterday. been preparing for the wrose when it comes to the storm that's moving in.batteries. oil lamps n all is up to date.got shelve food to eat.so i can eat that and leave fridge n freezer alone if power goes out.went n checked on a wheelchair bound person. to make sure he has everything needed.

Last week said I was going to the city, but did it today instead. In and out in less than 2 hours for something I should have taken care of a few months ago. Back home and the storms have rolled in.
@Peanut bone infection sounds very serious. Your dad sounds like a tough cookie tho.
@Spikedriver sorry about your foot troubles.
@phideaux You have miracle knees.

Spring is just around the corner and hopefully we'll all be on the mend.

@jimLE flooding forecast here today as well. Batten down the hatches and check your supply of tea and dry matches. I'm having some hot chocolate even though the temps are warm.
@MoBookworm1957 hope you're still able to have peace & quiet. Food brought in, etc.

Chores all morning, lots of laundry. Husband went to go see his new primary care doc, last one retired. He was not happy about this. Finally got the barista machine working, and can now make lattes, caps, and espressos. I bought it for husband for Christmas because he loves Starbucks, and gets some every day during his lunchhour. I thought it would help when he retires fully. We both have eye doctor appts this afternoon.

Back from the foot doc. He finally ordered X-rays. They came back fine, although I found out that at some point I broke my left tibia, a few inches above the ankle, and I didn't know it. It's all healed over now.

As for the foot, he now thinks I have several things going on, which together are creating the problem. My ankle tendons and ligaments are shot, so the joint hasn't got much stability. There's nerve inflammation, similar to carpal tunnel but in the foot, which is contributing to the pain. I've apparently got inflammation in the tendon that goes to the big toe, which also contributes. That is from the tendon compensating for the instability in my ankle. And on top of that is my back injury/core weakness and being overweight. So I have a metric sh*t ton of things to work on to try and make it better and none of them are a guarantee. I think it's all doctor speak for, "I don't really know what the problem is, but I hope it'll go away if you do these exercises." At least I do know that there's no bone injury. But I've got nothing I can point to and say, That's the problem for sure...
We'll see how it goes...

@Spikedriver This is out there a little, but have you ever looked into acupuncture? If it's a big fan NO, I get it. Don't know that I could do it. But the daughter of some friends had major seizures that were only getting worse. They had it done on their daughter (after many questions, prayers, and research) and it helped quite a bit - not cured, but I think cut them down by about half if I remember correctly - it's been a while. Anyhoo - just throwin' it out there. Hope the pain is more manageable than it was.
@Amish Heart You should share a picture of the Rex:) That's awesome. What a welcome home.
@Peanut Take a breath, hang in there. We're prayin' for ya.
@phideaux new name - Steve Austin?
@MoBookworm1957 Be good! Want you to heal up well.
@jimLE Stay safe & good of you to check on the person in the wheelchair!
@Patchouli Don't you love it when you can 'sneak' into town and back home again in record time?

@Spikedriver Acupuncture has helped a lot of people but I have no personal experience with it.

I don't have access to all my herb books here at the hospital but happen to have 3 of my best with me. All 3 point Solomon's Seal as the best herb for your situation.

One of the best herbalist in the country if not the world happens to live in MN. If it were me I'd drive up and see him.

Another choice is finding quality Solomon's Seal tincture. I don't trust any herb from a mainstream store like WM or a drug store.

Just a few thoughts...:)

@Peanut I've had very, very little luck with any herbal medicines. The only thing I've ever had work is ACV for heartburn. I know some swear by herbals but I'm pretty much done trying. I've heard Solomon's seal is good for inflammation, and I tried turmeric with no effect. (Turmeric did have an erratic effect on my blood sugar.) I've looked for Solomon's seal but it's only available on the internet...

Sitting in my recliner with my knee above my heart.
Flexing my ankle to build up strength in it.
Have shoes for the first time since surgery.
Have had supper. Had breakfast, waffles, poached egg,2 slices of bacon for supper.
Have a pot of vension vegetable soup going in pressure cooker/pressure canner.
Weather has turned crappy.
So will eat the soup for the next 36 hours.
Have had physical therapy today too.
Had a small nap today too.

Daughter got braces on her top teeth yesterday. They are purple and teal. Now, I have to figure out meals that don't have anything in them that her dentist says she can't eat. She can't eat popcorn and she's heartbroken. I told her that meant more for me when we went to the movies. She actually said she didn't want to go to the movies again until she could eat popcorn again...

The T Rex was a hit. I showed them on you tube the family of the T Rex's at the bus stop. We have the same T Rex. Also showed them frog the rooster on youtube at the bus stop. Don't know what Monday will bring. Older Granddaughter in the T Rex actually had a lady stop and wanted to take a photo. Grandson was in some ninja getup. They were both dancing. Little granddaughter thinks this is hysterical.
Eye doctor visit. Ordered new bifocals.

Those two are enjoying having a "little sister." Amish Heart, you are so sweet. Great fun times for your family, along with the rest of life.

@Terri9630 Our dog most of the time sleeps in the girls' room, unless she senses I'm sad, and I don't tolerate kitty in my room at bedtime, so...

@MoBookworm1957 I like it that you're being checked on and hope your swelling goes down soon. Stay warm! It was near 70 here today and will be in the low 30s by morning.
