Snappy, check out "wick tub planting". This is a better way to use the lick tubs. I had no success at all just putting holes in the tubs and filling with garden soil. I attended a seminar on the wicking tubs. His plants with amazing! If I ever do it again, this is what I will be doing.

I will check that out but I had good luck summer before last with lick tubs. Had tomatoes, green beans jalapenos, pablanos, and something else I can't remember right now. Always open to new and maybe easier ways to do things! Thanks!

Did all cooking and baking today plus made brownies and baked some leftover apple fritter dough in a loaf pan.

My soil is heavy and even though we mixed it with potting soil, I couldn't keep it wet enough. Our summer was horribly hot and dry the year though.

I ordered a green metal garden cart off eBay yesterday. Holds 660 pounds. EBay had a 20% off coupon for anything over $25.00 for one day. Only paid $55.45 including shipping. Probably pay a kid something to help put it together, but now the kid can clean out the goat shed (more money). And I can haul bags of dirt and mix around for my lick tub garden. Won't get it in until about the fist of April, but that is fine.

This morning I have already vacuumed and done the one load of laundry that needed doing. Still have to make white chocolate chip cookies for DH and a Chicken Pot Pie for dinner. And list a couple of pairs of jeans on eBay.

What a deal! We need a cart like that. :great:

In the last two days all the snow in the foothills has melted off and today the temperature climbed to 60F degrees after starting at 29F at 6:00 this morning. It looks like I can take the studded tires off the cars and in a couple weeks we will be planting seeds. Oh the joys of farming...
I have to build some forms and get the supplies to replace the wood framed ramp into the garage with a new concrete ramp.

went to a yard sale and found greatgrandsons a still in the box cat dump truck.[christmas presents] 2.50 each. one of them likes spider man, found him aspider man lunch box. and you guys know i can't resist a santa claus for myself, so salt and pepper shaker and 6 coffee mugs later i left and spent 7.50.

Hiwall,
I may be able to help if you need it drawn up with a list of materials. How many drawers and what size chest are you thinking about? I built all the benches for my shop and each of them is equipped with drawers for the work done at the bench or to support the tool on the bench. The press bench has a drawer for plates and support tooling and the lathe bench has six drawers to hold the chuck jaws, cutting bits and precision measuring tools used at the lathe. The grinder bench has drawers to hold replacement wheels, retainers and wrenches and so on. I would be happy to help or get you to the open source cad software that I use if you would like to have it. (the software is free and can be used on Windows, Mac and Linux operating systems)

My laugh for the day....Last fall, a limb broke off a tree and landed in the right of way, but it was in the way of everyone....so hubby pulled it to the side of our place and burned it...One of the local firemen came by and made him go to city hall and pay a fine for burning without a permit...bunch of bovine excretement...but he paid it, plus had to buy a permit to burn...one small limb....in the right of way...so today, the local fire dept. was trying to raise money for expenses...and they do work hard....so we went over our balances and wrote a nice check to help them...hubby took the check and gave it to the guy that caused all our added expenses....he was happy to get the check...hubby told him it would have been much bigger but we had to pay a fine...LOL...LOL......and he apologized to hubby....LOL......

Other than burning an old love seat and desk I'm taking it easy,I really over did it yesterday and my shoulders and arms are really letting me know today. Sort of anxious to see what the neurosurgeon has to say Tuesday. :(

Let us know what he says!

I woke up at 5:30 A.M. ,it was raining so I went back to sleep. Didn't wake up till 10:00! I must of been more tired than I thought. I spent the day rabbiting planks to be used as exterior siding and interior ship lap.

Thanks much for the offer. But I will muddle through on my own. I have built many things and a few simple drawers will not be a problem. These will be under the lathe bench and for mostly lathe parts and tooling so I will have to make it pretty heavy duty. I got nothing else to do anyway:)

I sleep better when it is raining.

I was awake before 6 and finally got up a little after 6. Did some cleaning and more sorting. I had another trip to the thrift store and looked for fabric to sew some new summer clothes. I am thinking I will just buy some instead.

Husband and I went out to eat and went to our new Cabellas. I bought a butchering table with a faucet...it says fillet table, but I'll be using it for chickens, turkeys, ducks, and rabbits. Also bought a nice set of butchering knives. Got a lot of housework and odds and ends done. I need to go into work for awhile tomorrow, since I was out all last week. Also am having the kids and grandkids over tomorrow for a grandsons birthday.

Hello everyone and hope you had a good day :).

Today we started off the morning with trying to go to church but the best laid plans of mice and men went very awry. The car wouldn't start and there was that familiar click click of the I have a completely dead battery. Oh well it was 9.5 years old and the same battery that was in the car when we brought it from new. We called our roadside assist club and they came out with a new battery, cleaned the battery terminals and we paid for the battery which was $225. Fortunately we get a discount of around 10% on the cost of the battery and we paid cash from the home emergency kitty saving us another $5 they would have charged had we needed to use a card. We didn't get to go to church but oh well there is always next week.

DH has put on a loaf of fruit bread in the bread making machine and it has just beeped and I have watered the fruit trees on the back veranda. Apart from this we intend to take it easy today being a Sunday.

The building were I work has been sold, and the owner tried to sell the aquarium that was in the lobby. Well, no one bought it. So, he asked if anyone in the building would like to have it. I was the only one who said, "yes". (duh)
So, I've busy setting up a 220 gal. saltwater aquarium in my house. Luckily, I had help loading and loading, but other than that, it's been a lot of work for one person. And, so far, no fish have been lost, fingers still crossed, lol.
Later today I'm going to my office, I'll be packing. We've moving the company to a skyscraper in downtown nashville, tn soon, and I better be ready so I don't miss the moving truck, lol.

I checked out the radar bout 30 minutes ago and all the storms this time are barely missing us! But they are South of us so @Peanut is getting inundated right now. I son's in Tuscaloosa and in Hamilton and they're getting pounded to. It's just getting to a daughter's house in Scotsborro.

@gumpy are they storms or tornadoes ?, or storms that could build into tornadoes.

No tornadoes, just thunderstorms, and according to radar they are not the super cells that produce tornadoes..

Probably going to be a little sore tomorrow as I am booked in to have 11 mole like growths off one side of me scaped off under a general anaesthetic so I may or may not be online tomorrow as it will depend on how I hold up. I will then have to go in for round 2 shortly for the other side of me.

A little sore??

I'll put you on my prayer list. Let us know when the next one is and I'll put you back on there!
