Well it's FRIDAY!!! LONG WEEKEND!!!!! Son should be arriving tonight, I will try to gain access to the attic to start doing lighting work. Have a nice long list of things to do this weekend so I may not be posting much till Monday. Yesterday, I caught the wife using the kitchen, Oxygen, IV bag and all; you just can't keep a good woman down :)

Note as we clean out the old food shelves we are placing things on the counter so we can clean/wash them before putting in their new home. The dark box on the right counter top is a small convection toaster oven, it has been a workhorse while the kitchen was down...

Hope everyone has a safe, healthy, and productive holiday weekend! :woo hoo:

I am sorry everyone goes through rough patches.
But I also know the good Lord doesn't doesn't give us more to deal with than we can handle.
I know Jim is worried about him and Mrs Jim health issues.
If I could help them I would in a New York minute.
>ME TOO<
If I have to stay here another year to save money to be able to move into decent safe place then I will.
>>>Mo, my lease is now month to month so that I can give a 2 month notice when I go to move instead of having to wait for that same month of the year to attempt a move. Have you used a website called "hot pads" for rentals?<<<
It's not the end of the world.
>>>It's hard when there are too many negative things going on<<<
Thank you all for letting me vent.
My dad suggested strongly that I rent a house.
Because I don't like neighbors that are too close.
>>>A house is great. <<<

...It must be nice to know you have enough money in bank that you don't even cross check your bank statement to your check registers.People, people....
Spent 6 hours doing nothing but sorting bank statements for 3 accounts, credit card statements for 2019 for 3 credit cards....
I couldn't help laughing (at myself) when I read the above sentences. In the 30 years I've been married, I have written about five or six checks. I have no interest or ability to handle money, which was why I was always skirting bankruptcy before Dawn and I got married. Now, I still don't know how much money we have in the bank. We each get a SS check and I get two pension checks (one medium, one tiny) each month, and I have no idea where exactly they go.

A couple of months ago, I was fantasizing about the object of my lust, a three- or four-year old F-150. Conversation went like this.

Duncan: "I saw this really neat truck for only $18K. 48 thousand miles, 4WD yadda yadda..."
Dawn: "Are you kidding? If we paid that much cash, it'd wipe out our savings!"
Duncan: "We have that much cash?"
Dawn: "Never mind how much cash we have. Eat your breakfast!"
Duncan: "But we could borrow the money from the bank or something..."
Dawn: "I spent 15 years getting us out of debt; no credit cards, nothing but the mortgage. That's why we have the money in the bank."
Duncan: "Well, could we buy that 6.8 SPC upper for my AR? It's waaay less than the truck!"
Dawn: "Eat your breakfast."

I suppose it's all for the best.

Starting off as a good day today.
I got up at 6:30 , made coffee,
Can't eat anything , because I gotta be at hospital for kidney ultra sound. They called yesterday , no food until after test.
Wife got up at 7:00, said she's feeling better today, but understands ,she's got a long way to go .
My buttock is VERY sore this morning , tough walking.

So , I got the. New adapter power supply for the water softener yesterday,.
I was worried that the digital control may be fried also.
So I went over , plugged in , and hooked up new power supply, can you see me smiling?
It worked , the softener is regenerating as I type this. 😁😁😊

So now I'm waiting to go for the ultra sound.
I did have coffee early. ,so I'm good to go.

I sure hope things get better Mo.
I hope you all have a great day.

Jim

Patch its like that old saying ,
" its a recession when your neighbor loses his job, but The Great Depression when you lose yours" or something like that.
Your right times are bad now for us all one way or the other. And it is good to have each other to vent to so we don't drive our relatives over the edge,😊

@Duncan ,
Sounds like my wife and your wife are twins.
I like it that way.

I have a rental trailer , that I alone take care of , and I get the rent for myself each month , to spend on me, not in her budget.

I couldn't tell you how much cash we have or in the bank. And...I don't care.

I enjoy my guns and other toys.

Wife is very frugal, so I never question anything she does.

I don't really know what happen to Patchouli's quote???
But it's not here.
I have never heard of "hot pads for rentals"?
Would they have something for me in rural Missouri?
You know that song Meerkat(cause I know you like music),
"If it weren't for bad luck I'd no luck at all", that's how I feel at the moment.
There's not to many 1 bedroom houses in my neck of the wood.
As for 2 bedrooms that depends on the price point.
And whether or not they will take Section 8, with my price point.
And Lazy L, I don't know how to be a damsel in distress.
Not really my cup of tea.
Hopefully today will be better.
I'm going to make another pot of coffee, dry my tears over the apartment get on with life.

I wish I could fix all your problems @MoBookworm1957 .

If I didn't have the guy in my rental , I would let you live in it free

But , I can't kick this guy out. He has his elder Dad and his 4 year old daughter he supports .

I wish I was a billionaire so I could fix everybody's problems.

Like you said ...just another bump in the road...keep on trucking.

Jim

@Meerkat haha I don't want to drive anyone over the edge! Not anyone here either, ya know?
That's a good quote and so true. But I haven't lost my job.
When I can get out of myself and reach out and help others, that feels better. Changes everything.

I was speaking in general ,not just you but myself too. You keep it up and I'll go to The Dixie Club and put up one of my songs you don't like.:peace::).

MoBook music helps me cope sometimes. I can take a trip without leaving the farm, [ another song lyric ].

I thank you for the offer for the rental.
But the gentleman who is living there, needs to be there for a reason.
But I probably wouldn't want to inconveince you and Mrs. Jim, Doogan.
Doogan, wouldn't know what hit him with Strawberry around.
As for my problems, nobody can fix them but me.
But thank you for the offer, I appreciate it.

@MoBookworm1957 I thought about PM-ing you, but will put it here in case someone else needs the lift too. I think sometimes God just tests our faith. When we pinpointed what we were after and were looking for a place, Hubby sent me a link and said "how 'bout this?" It was awful! I referred to it as the Barry Manilow house - gold, mustard yellow, and dark wood paneling with dropped ceilings and florescent lights, etc. I did a quick search and found a modest shabby but totally livable little cottage and popped back that I preferred it. He said looks great, book a viewing. So I did. The night before we were to go see it, they called and said it had been removed from the market. We were crushed. So we continued looking. After a month or so and viewing several disgusting dumps, I started driving. I ended up seeing the cottage (had no idea where I was or what roads I took to get there.) I pulled over and cried. Finally after months of looking, gave up much hope of moving by the end of the year like we'd initially hoped, we continued looking but not expecting anything~ One night after I'd gone to bed, Hubby came in about 10:30-11PM and woke me up. He said "Sorry to wake you, but the cottage is available again." Me - What! Him - yea, and looks like they painted and redid the bathroom. I told him I would put our app in first thing in the morning. It was first complete application, first serve. As my head hit the pillow, I thought - God is seeing if I really want it. I got up and filled out the app sometime just short of midnight (I am sooo not a night person.) Next morning scheduled for hubby to go look at it - required before signing. I couldn't go as I worked in a different town. Good thing I did. Another couple went to look same time as Hubby. Their app was received a few hours after ours. We accepted the contract with me never seeing it closer than from a half mile down the road and made our first load Dec 22 - 3 days before Christmas like all sane people . That's where we still live today. So just when you give up hope is the perfect time when God steps in on your behalf or reveals the blessing in disguise. 💖

LadyL what an inspiring story. So glad you persevered.:great:

I just tried Hot Pads.
They're in the next town over.
And those are some big houses.
But unfortunately not at my price point.
I know people are leery of craigs list but check there too for rentals. Also check real estate company websites, some of them carry rentals that are not strictly their company's listings.
I'm sorry hot pads didn't work for you. I hope you started out with your preferences and prices. I've seen many different types of housing on hot pads with reasonable prices, small, older apartments and homes, as well as new, as well as ridiculous and expensive.

Well, the day is finally here. I am officially RETIRED! :lil guy:

Party time! I know another nurse who retired this year and she is HAPPY and enjoying life. Camping, biking, fishing, gardening, traveling. I hope you get to do things you've been wanting to "get to". This is so exciting!

Hubby will soon be getting back to the boat. I want to be ready soon as it cools down to take a boat ride. Then I want to go to salt water not offshore of course! Today though it will be house cleaning he is out now mowing grass ,it rained him out yesterday.
He said the starter is really old came with the engine 20 or 30 years ago,so he will buy both anyway.

Talked to daughter on phone on the porch on speaker phone and Pretty Bird was really pitching a fit for his breakfast this morning. :) .She can't stand him, said she will be brining BB fun next trip, lol.Pretty Bird heard her and really got noisey then. I told her the feeling is mutual far as PrettyBird the crow is concerned, lol.

It needs a stater or solenoid so I googled this,

Hogan & Sons Tire and Auto | Tires, Auto Repair & Oil Change in Northern Virginia

STARTER OR SOLENOID,

1. Nothing happens. If you engage the ignition and it does nothing, there are a number of problems that could account. One possibility is the solenoid.

2. A single “click” sound comes from the engine compartment or from under the car. This could mean that the solenoid is trying to engage but that the internal components are stuck and unable to work properly.

3. Repeated “clicking” sounds usually indicate a dead battery. But a faulty solenoid that fails to make adequate electrical contact inside can also produce this tell-tale sound.

4. Sometimes a bad starter solenoid, instead of preventing the engine from starting, may cause it to start on its own without the key being turned to the “start” position.” This less-common problem can be dangerous and should be addressed immediately.

5. If the starter engages but does not disengage when you let go of the key, the solenoid is likely bad and the starter may suffer significant damage as a result.

6. Sometimes your car starts, sometimes it doesn’t. Intermittent operation can be a sign of a failing starter solenoid.
