We watched Christmas Chronicles last night (the first one). Little granddaughter cracked up. Doing stuff around here, today. Day three of husband not feeling well, he had a fever start yesterday and his breathing is worse than his normal bad. We will see what today brings.
Hope he can get it under control and start feeling better soon, we will be praying for you.

When the wife starts having problems I start with checking her blood oxygen concentration, I can crank up her oxygen if necessary. We also have some stuff call Tei Fu - it's a skin conditioner, but I put 2 or 3 drops of it on a face mask and breathe through it, when we put it on the wife within a couple of seconds her oxygen numbers go up 2 or 3. I use it to clear my sinsuses, but don't get it too close to your eyes, you will cry like a baby.

Today some of the hydroponic lettuce made it from the grow station to the Kitchen counter, I had been collecting those organic live lettuce tubs at the store, my small net cups fit right in. I have 6 of the store cups and don't expect to be buying any more of that $2.50 lettuce.

Wife hasn't felt good last couple days. Last night was getting worse.I think she has a sinus infection. But one of her nurse friends convinced her to get a covid test. So I took her to a drive in place this morning. Got her to eat a small sannwich. She has went back to bed.
Kind of drizzling rain here today, so I just watched UT beat Cinncinati in basket ball. Gonna watch the football game at 4. Otherwise, probably not do much today.

Prayers for your hubs Amish. You too Urban

It's good that you and your neighbors are looking out for each other Meer. Husband has an oxygen making machine, and we have a battery and special inverter to go with it if the power goes. The battery is solar charged.
Husband made an appt for tomorrow morning to get tested. He said he might, and he might not.

Hey Urban, I got a bunch of those 4pk fancy lettuces for 19 cents a piece. Bought all 8 that they had.
Husband doesn't do well with anything that smells. He has asthma, sarcoid, copd, and a lung that doesn't work. Smells make it worse.
But hey, so far today he can taste and smell, and so can I. Having a little sore throat, though, so had some elderberry. My fav cousin called today and she still can't taste or smell, but sounds better. Her daughter is making her eat and drink, although she says it all tastes like cardboard right now, and can't enjoy the smell of morning coffee.

Flonase and gingko biloba are recommended to help with smell and taste. Flonase was recommended to me a couple years ago for cold symptoms. I've added some to my cold medicine supplies and keep one in my purse now.

Amish where did you get it and how much?

Did a little Christmas shopping today. My little town had what they called the "town market" today, which is basically all the main street stores being open with some little vendors coming in. A lady from my church does custom printing for shirts & hats and she had some really nice stuff so I got my daughter two hoodies with her school logo. I had to have her try one of them on so she knows she's getting it for Christmas but I was able to hide the other one...

K scooped the litter boxes. I can tell he is getting bored being home from work. He feels like he has to keep busy. Like I said before I can't even get a load in the washer because he has load after load going.

I got a batch of elderberry tincture started. Once I get some more amber jars/bottles I'll make a big batch of elderberry syrup. I still have to make the 'adult' batch of the honey lemon syrup.

I am trying to be a bit proactive with some minor health issues/concerns lately. One is my vision. I am suppose to wear glasses when I read and use the computer. The last pair I got actually hurt my eyes and gave me headaches. I stopped using them and started doing research about this. It seems the optometrist that gave me the prescription didn't even care it hurt my eyes. So I found a new one but with Covid they don't even want to welcome new patients. Too bad. I did read some articles about eye health and started taking some supplements. I have seen a change in my distance vision and even my night vision. I will still look for a new eye doctor until I find one that can do their job without hurting me.

Hope you can find a dr. soon. We don't realize how precious our site is till we lose some of it. We both use Dollar Store glasses but of course they don't work for som eye problems including mine now but sstill help me too some..

I am curious about what supplements you are using for your eyes.
I had a problem getting new glasses a couple decades ago. Eye doctor was not close to home, so every trip took time from other things. It took me 6 visits to get my glasses right. My previous glasses worked better than my new ones. I kept going back and finally just had to tell them how many times I had come back, "Look, my old glasses work better," and "what is the problem?" Seems some incompetent person had my prescription written backwards or something. Then they wanted to insult me about being upset that it took 6 visits to get my prescription right. Don't tell a narcissist the truth about themselves, they can dish it, but cannot take it. Never went there again. Nowadays, you can write about it online to let others know their incompetence.

I am taking bilberry and eyebright. The exact supplements are the Walmart brand bilberry and Christopher's herbal eye formula. I take them with a hair/skin/nails gummy vitamin from Costco. I take a host of others but not at the same time. I space my vitamins and supplements throughout the day and evening.

Thank you. Since COVID hit, we had some recommendations for supplements to improve our immune systems. The recommendations included preferred brands. SolaRay was recommended for a few and the place that I know that carries them is Natural Grocers. I will look for bilberry and Christopher's herbal eye formula there the next time I go to Natural Grocers. I've seen that gummy vitamin at Costco.

I now take so many vitamins that I have to space them out. I take two or three tablets at a time. If I try to take all at a time, they seem to get stuck on the way down, no matter how much water I drink.

Meer...the oxygen making machine is prescribed by the doctor and provided by the same company that provides green bottles of oxygen. It also connects to his cpap machine to provide 3 liters of oxygen to him while he sleeps. Don't know how to get one without an rx. Same goes for nebulizers. We have a number of them, but they require an rx. Which is dumb. The stuff you put in them for medication is what should require an rx.

You can get Solaray supplements from Vitacost.com

I take the bilberry from Walmart because it has lutine and blueberry which are great for eyes. If I can find a better source I'll switch but this one is working and I'm not complaining.

I have a manual nebulizer I got without a prescription. It was $30 but well worth it!

It's so silly, because the motor on them are not much different than a fish tank pump.

It is the neatest thing! I use it to administer asthmanefrin which needs a nebulizer.

@Amish Heart yes about the fish tank pump and nebulizer. I paid too much for mine 20 years ago +/-when youngest was a baby and very sick. I hope your husband can get to feeling better too.
@Bacpacker one of my sisters thought she had a sinus infection, all the symptoms plus a cough and felt bad. She tested positive for the dreaded virus. I hope your wife heals up quickly. My sister's doc gave her zpac(?antibiotics I guess -- for a virus?), he told her to take vitamin c, zinc, and sudafed; gave her something for her cough.
I use Vitacost a good bit too, @Grimm Thompson makes a high quality range of supplements too
@Spikedriver Good you were able to find a "made just for her" sweatshirt for your girl. I don't even think we're doing Christmas presents this year. Something for the little ones and the rest of us can prep.
@UrbanHunter that sounds miserable. Don't live on ensure alone. Make yourself fruit and/or vegetable smoothies if you can pulverize everything well enough. Hope you get to feeling better.

That's cool, Grimm, but I can't imagine how many hand pumps that would take. I guess you get strong hands. Ha.
Seriously, though, husband uses a neb 4 to 5 times a day, sometimes in the middle of the night, another large specialized machine for meds, and a "shaker vest" that was made to fit him to eliminate lung blockage. So we have solar that charges batteries that operates this stuff. And the oxygen/cpap for the evening. And the imogen portable pulse ox. Couldn't imagine doing any of this by hand. But what a racket...the expense, the prescriptions, everything has specialized tubing and masking. Crazy.
Feel better, Urban, and yes...make a smoothie and add some real yogurt to it. Am loving the Skyr Yogurt lately. Aldi stocks it. It's real yogurt and high in protein. But it's Icelandic, so it's thick and not sweet.

Had our Christmas today. 5 daughters, 4 son in laws, 15 grands and 2 step grands and one boy friend. We stayed outside and in family groups. When food came, ( we catered it) two of us seved plates and one daughter took outside til all served. They all brought their own drinks. Best part is I finished my 16th quilt yesterday. Most ambitious project ever that took 5 years to complete, but all grands have a quilt now. My oldest grand got his in October before his deployment. Proud of my Marine and wore his shirt today. Each quilt had Pappy's blue jeans/ shirts and their initials in them. Proud to be done. Good day. I will feel blue on Christmas Day, but all good. Maybe I can have time to go hunting. Most plan to come back for New Years day

Thanks for the info Amish. Hope the xousin doesn't have the virus, seems two of mine who are i ntheir late 60s and 71 got over it preety good considering the shape he is in .

Reason I ask about machine is so far we are ok far as no meds needs for lungs but being smokers we both know its coming. I was talking to neighbor and we both agreed if something happpens what we have here is all we may get.

I had a quiet day but busy. I took 8 cartons of eggs and donated them to the little community food pantry. Lots of people are still hurting, especially young couples with not a lot of reserves to fall back on.

I did the grocery shopping for my folks this afternoon, a chore I really dislike. In fact I dislike grocery shopping for myself!

A nice dinner with sliced brisket... now I'm just watching some college football.

Not many young here. But there are a few who lost their jobs. Mostly young and middle aged. Both have parents who help.

@UrbanHunter I'm glad your tooth-pulling went OK but sorry to hear you had pain afterward. I had a tooth pulled the day before a hurricane back in August. I wasn't supposed to do any heavy lifting but ended up having to do some anyway. Had to put a tea bag in the empty socket after 24hrs bc it hadn't stopped bleeding, but I didn't need any of the painkillers. I didn't even fill the prescription. I had argued with them that I didn't even want one written up bc I wasn't going to get it. It was too aggravating to jump through hoops to get it approved at the pharmacy & I had prep to do before the hurricane hit. The staff did give me bottled water and were very nice. The pain I had from before the tooth was pulled was so bad that any soreness after was nothing compared to it. I actually ate some rice on day 2- note: Rice will get stuck inside the pit and can be a pain to get out. Hardest part post-op was stopping myself from poking at the pit with my tongue. I wasn't fully successful. About a day or 2 in it developed a jelly-like layer inside. Once it had healed enough that I could start swishing water around and drinking with a straw I was happy though. Most of the pit has filled in but there is still enough of a pocket to catch rice and small stuff.

I took Mom to the bank yesterday to sort out some billing issues (they were charging her $5 month for "return mail fee"). She got a refund for the last several months and will no longer receive that charge. She wanted to go to Walmart but I was wary. I told her it would be crowded. I needed to get gas at the Murphy station anyway so I drove over there. She saw how crowded the parking lot was and said "Forget it! Just get gas!"

My friend spent all day Friday on the phone on hold with Medicaid trying to switch to a better plan. Several hours in they closed for the day and hung up on him.

New faucet for the guest bathroom arrived from Ebay. Box was beat up but the contents were fine inside. It's a Delta Porter faucet and looks very nice.

I had a lazy day of resting. Had some bad abdominal cramps that made me nauseous so I curled up to sleep. Got up and made lunch and dinner. Sunday is cleaning day. Monday I take my friend to the eye doctor again.

For now I'm sitting under 4 cats about to get some sleep.
