Today, is a day off so I am doing thing like transplanting sprouts and returning building material. When we did the kitchen a number of shipments from Ikea were delayed, we drove 2 states over to get key parts for the from stores that were not closed for COVID-19, as we completed the build the parts we had ordered started arriving.... So I have been sitting with flat pack boxes in the living room for 2 months because I hate doing returns and those things are heavy. The son is here today for a couple of hours so now seems like a good time to do the returns.

The indoor garden is going nuts so I have to start transplanting into growing containers even if I don't have the lights for the shelves yet. I am using 3' window boxes, #10 cans, and 3 & 5 gallon buckets in addition to my hydroponic salad tubs... lots to do and so little time.
Update,
We got the materials returned about $300 back to us...
My grow lights arrived and I quickly wired 3 growing shelves and moved 6 window boxes to the window. One of the "table" potatoes is now peaking out above the top of the 5 gallon bucket, it is currently growing in 5"s of soil, so I think I will add some tonight.

Son left as soon as we got the building supplies returned, wife has been worried sick (actually ill) about him so I am making supper...

K set up a covid test for tomorrow. Still don't know if a negative test will get him back to work before the 14 days are up. The first day he can go back will be Dec 24th. He plans on taking the day off.

I ran out to go grocery shopping. With K home lunch menus change to fit his diet rather than just the girls. He eats a lot when he is home.

So we are just catching up on our projects list and household chores. K has a bug for laundry. He dominates the washer all weekend so if I want to do any laundry I have to do it during the week. With him home I can kiss doing laundry goodbye for the next 2 weeks.

Well kudos to him.

The Princess will not let touch any of HER appliances... unless they need to be fixed or setting the oven to heat dinner.

It may have something to do with the time I was home alone and wanted to make chocolate chip bars, doubled the recipe and mixed up baking powder and baking soda (details). Before long the batter had climbed out of the baking sheets, crawled across the bottom of the oven and pouring out of the onto the floor. My uncle gave me strange look as he saw me waving the backdoor trying to clear the smoke.

Geez. One little mistake and I end up being baned forever.

Grimm, I hope they don't jerk K around about paying him for quarantining. If they require him to do it they should have to pay him. Especially if he was potentially exposed at work.

Some workplaces require people to get Covid tests if they've been exposed or of co-workers tested positive. My friend had to quarantine for two weeks and get tested two weeks in a row.

Speaking of his workplace, more drama there, but I'll get to that at the end of my post and maybe in the rants section as well.

I got up early & took my friend to another eye doctor appointment. His appointment was scheduled for 10:20am. It was crowded in there so my brother & I went and sat in the truck with the windows down while my friend stood around away from people. They didn't take him to the back until after 11:20am. He sat & waited a long time. They poked his eye with stuff & he was not happy. Then they dilated both of his eyes. He didn't get out until almost 2pm. My brother and I napped in the truck bc we were both exhausted. On his way out of the building, my friend got a call from his boss. Long story short, someone robbed all of the prizes for the arcade from the casino & the casino employees accused my brother of doing it & accused my friend of giving him the keys and instructions on how to get things. They have fingerprints & cameras so it will rule my brother out-- he hasn't gone near the casino since October. But, I'm concerned they may try to pin this on my friend even though he had nothing to do with it. All of his keys are accounted for so it had to be an inside job- one of the casino employees or their friends bc the casino employees for that area have the duplicate keys.

We went to the Chinese buffet after. Some cheapskate was trying to convince the owner that in this country it's customary to give 50% discount on a customer's birthday. The woman with the guy looked embarrassed and offered to pay half of the bill so the guy could pay the other half. I think the owner heard us muttering to each other about how the cheap motherf**** probably didn't even tip. When we were leaving he said to me "I don't know about in America, but on birthday, people pay and don't get 50% discount". We assured him that was not a thing and the guy was just a cheapskate. I said "I bet he didn't leave a tip" and he said "No, he didn't". Jerk. I get that he might not have a lot of money, but if you can't afford a tip, don't go to a f***ing restaurant during a pandemic & then try to get half price. Like, sometimes they will give you a free desert at places or a free appetizer or something, but never that sort of discount.

To make the day better, we stopped at Boot Barn to get my friend some new boots. His old ones we got 3 years ago are falling apart. Got some nice composite toe nonslip ones. The old ones saved his toes a few times. They were $50 off on a special sale.

I also talked to him about using the open enrollment for Medicaid to see if he can switch to a plan that is actually accepted by doctors.

Now I'm back home relaxing. Think I need another nap before I make dinner. I had bad arrhythmia last night before getting to sleep. I was waiting for my brother to call to ask for a ride home so I stayed up waiting but then couldn't stay up anymore when I realized he was going to spend the night.

My favorite cousin has covid. She was not feeling well on Sunday, thought she had a cold, and so we didn't go for dinner. This morning she woke up and couldn't taste or smell. Prayers for her, please, I am bummed.
Husband is not feeling well today, but more of a little stomach bug. All bugs affect his breathing, so he took it easy today. I started on Christmas cards, took care of the greenhouse, did housecleaning and laundry. When the twins finished online school, we took out three roosters. Meat is chilling in the fridge, and I'll food saver it tomorrow for the freezer.

K is not suppose to touch my washer. The very first one we got when we were first married he broke the first time he used it. The drum fell out of it! He never did laundry outside of a laundromat and he overfilled machines to save money. He over filled the Kenmore we had and the thing was so out of balance it broke apart.

There is an article/video by a doctor recommending OTC meds to help with covid symptoms and shorten the duration. Apparently her video was removed from Youtube because it goes against Fauci. She has not had any of her covid patients die under her care. I'll post if I can find it again. It is said to be posted elsewhere.

I was planning on going down to our old place to pick up our Christmas stuff and see my sister. Well, its supposed to start showing in a few hrs and my sister just called. Her boyfriend is sick. He's going to get tested tomorrow. I my just stay up here on my mountain.....

Boyfriend tested positive for flu A and looks to be developing pneumonia. Covid test isn't back yet.

Well I'm home from the dentist and I hurt from the waist up.... I didn't realize that I would be on a liquid diet for a week and no straws.... On the way home I stopped to pick up the perscriptions and get some bottles of protien energy type drinks (Ensure?).... Just enough time for the 4 shots from the dentist to wear off and I keep thinking of his last words, you may be uncomfortable for a few days.....

Amish of course we already do. Hope she beats it record speed and is ok.

Thanks! Talked to her son today and he saw her yesterday and she looked better than Sunday. He had it already a couple months ago, so he is immune right now. He experienced a 24 hr type brain fog like thing with it...became unreasonable and somewhat crazy to his wife. Cousin Sam who is in the hospital right now experienced the same thing...pulling off his oxygen, acting nuts. They put him back in ICU when he did that, but he is back in a normal room now. My favorite cousin's son is our construction guy, doing our house addition, so I see him most every day. Roof is on, and the bedroom, closet, bathroom, door to basement framing is done as of today. Glad the roof is on, maybe will be getting snow this weekend. Piddling around the house today. Made more hot chocolate mix in our big container, made a cherry cream cheese platz for dessert. Did a few loads of laundry, hung it inside Went to the post office and to the pharmacy, dropped off little g to school, picked her up, and it's almost time to drop off big g to work, then I'll pick her up this evening. Little granddaughter wants to watch a Christmas movie and clove some oranges, tie up some cinnamon sticks to make pomanders. We'll probably do that after dinner. We've been debating if Kevin the cat is pregnant because he is getting so fat.

You already know how I feel about dentists.

I have been working on stuff around the house. The big project is figuring out how to get an air return duct routed from the basement to the second floor. I found a path and my math says a 10" stack run behind a wall should serve my needs. I may be able to avoid all drywall work.

I did determine that I will have to cut a hole in the floor to gain access to the dead space behind a wall. The cut could be done with a keyhole saw and a hand saw but after watching my brother wield his oscillating tool to cut in tight places I decided it was time to pay him a compliment and imitate him. I had just enough in my tool budget for a refurbished tool, an assortment of attachments and a tool bag. The last of that order arrived today.

Since I had completed the lego sort my recent evening project is intended to augment a plan The Princess has schemed up. She found some wands in her travels that will fit in nicely with the Harry Potter themed guest room remodel she and the g-daughters have been working on. The wands are just bare wands so my job has been to create custom storage boxes for them. Mind you I have never made custom boxes before this task but I have always appreciated nicely made boxes.

They have a plain paper outer cover and the first is lined with pink construction paper. I have to do 2 more and then make tops that match. Now that I have a prototype and a template the duplication should go faster.

Today...

Since had to defer the turkey dinner to accommodate the pseudo-duaghter-in-law's work schedule we doing it tonight. But since The Princess still has a real job it is my job to cook the turkey.

Nuff for now

Ben

He might be pregnant. . . My thought was “Well, it is 2020.” 😂

Well, I am feeling much better; I fell asleep in a chair with an Ice-pack after taking a pill.... When I woke up it was still hurting and I was hungry, drank my dinner and took another pill (It's allowed it was 6 hours later) and checked on my seed starter tray. I started transplanting until I ran out of plants and I totally forgot about the jaw. I just took the last pill of the day (antibiotic), next one is due at 05:00 so I am almost ready to call it a night. But before I do I need to add about 6 inches of soil around each of my 4 potato plants, they are growing so fast. I looked at some old pictures of the potato plants that I grew in a raised bed about 8 years ago, the bucket potato plants make them look sick.

The DIL who had COVID-19 wants to bring out the Grand daughers between Christmas and New Years. They have all had COVID-19 and feel safe. We are just not so sure about them flying across the country and staying here for a week. I would need to do a lot of prep work to make room for them.....

Well, Kev was around for food early in the morning. Then we didn't see him till afternoon. Older granddaughter saw him on the front grass, went over to say hello. He had something fluffy under him, and granddaughter thought he had a kitten. Turned out to be a packrat he nabbed and was holding down. But he is getting really fat. But she really thought it was a kitten at first.

Yea I told mine to buy a camper or stay in our tent, same fro fancy SIL, They can all afford a camper if they want one plus our kids could just buy one and use it for family.
They never know when they may need it to run for the hills. We have van set up plus out tent is always in the van. Have two great air beds with frames so not on floor.
Too many in Georgia have been sick.

Strawberry was walked.
Worked on new knee exercises,
Took several naps.
Grand daughter Estelle came over to Granny's house.
She ate little piggy.
Halloween popcorn ball, noodles, popsiciles, waffles.
We watched Christmas Chronicles 2.
Last year we watched the first Christmas Chronicles and the kids liked it, how was the second?
This year we made popcorn balls too, it was the first time my wife made them, we gave all of them away except 2. ;)

We watched Christmas Chronicles last night (the first one). Little granddaughter cracked up. Doing stuff around here, today. Day three of husband not feeling well, he had a fever start yesterday and his breathing is worse than his normal bad. We will see what today brings.

I am worried about you hubby.

Jim

Good morning! I washed and sliced the radishes yesterday. Making the pickles today.
Got most of the Christmas cards made out and sent yesterday.
We ae meeting our "friend's" landlord out at the rental he was in this afternoon. Not really looking forward to that. Landlord didn't want to go in alone. He knows we are not involved in any of the crap that has gone on.
Otherwise, hope to take it easy and watch a movie or two.

Amish, I hope your DH feels better soon!

It is Saturday and I am feeling better, but tinder and stiff. I don't feel good about doing much away from the house so I think I will weed my raised beds that have sets in them already. While doing a walk-around the other day I noticed that the weeds have been taking advantage of the nice weather and taking over the beds, I will pay them a visit.

All my transplants from yesterday look happy! I am considering using a weed sprayer to water them in the future, I need to water every day and 2 gallons that the weed sprayer combined with the wand will make it easy to apply a gentle mist to every plant quickly so I can fit it into my schedule.

We got a bunch of Poinsettia's and the wife wants them watered every day, so having something like a weed sprayer to deliver a small drink may meet the need.

Sent all the kids a note about making sure that topping off their food storage and garden seeds are on their Christmas shopping list, as I am expecting the first half of 2021 to be as exciting as 2020 was. Now there is a stocking stuffer, give them packets of their favorite seeds!

We are planning on making breads for our friends and the neighbors, the neighbors don't speak good good english, but they do understand kind jesters. Bread on the water.

Enjoy the day...

Thanks. He hasn't been sick in a while. Doesn't want to call the doc quite yet. The pulmonary guy here worked out a plan with him when he gets sick, open hours and after hours, but basically both times end up in the hospital. We have enough medical stuff around here to see how he does first.
I've been on phone last couple hours and one is a neighbor.
We talked sbout who has what in case tshtf like medical supplies ,my BP monitor is getting old so may need to get another. She has oxigen but wants to get machine that makes oxigen. She has some meds like nitroglycerine.Food , and her main worry seems to be water if power goes out.
We want to have another community watch meeting but not sure about it.
