Yesterday our oldest cat refused to eat or be social. I tried handling her to see what was wrong before I jumped to taking her to the vet to find out she might be getting ready to die. After a few times pestering her with pets and checking her body for injuries I found a small abscess at the base of her tail that had a scab formed from the draining pus. I soaked the scab and got it off without making the wound worse. It drained dark red-ish pus and smelt like death. So I played 'doctor' and cleaned it out and packed it with medicine. This morning she was moody still but ate a little. I ended up playing doctor again and found her fur helped block the wound from draining. I clipped the fur around it and flushed it again. She is doing better. Just laying in the sun. The clipped fur makes it easier to see any draining fluids and to clean them up.

For those who find it funny when someone does something stupid and hurts themselves...

She peed on me both times I was doctoring her up. On purpose!

I have been reorganizing our food stores since K put the new bed frame together. It feels weird getting out of bed when my feet don't touch the floor. Fun though.

l-lysine in food works wonders for infections like that. Hope you get it cleared up and don’t get peed on again.

I never even planted a garden until after 4/15.

We gonna have 2 nights this week in the 20s. Frost for sure , which probably wipe out plums and pears..AGAIN.

Jim
We have 3 nights that are to get below freezing this week, my plum trees are loaded with blooms, makes me sad to think we might get wiped out AGAIN....

Supposedly the plumbers are coming today to work on the new bathroom. Not the shower yet, because they broke a wall shower panel when the wind caught it. So imagine we'll be without water for alot of today. They are taking out the old water heater in the old basement and putting in some on demand thing. I am hoping that there will be a working sink and toilet in the add on bathroom at the end of the day.
Planning to go into town for most of the day after they get started.

The chicken alarms went off a little before five A.M....slipped into my shoes, put my glasses on, got my flashlight and went outside to see what was causing the commotion...I could not see anything, we also have a big security light out there..a few cats moving around, I walked toward where Deuce, the kitten, is usually found, shined the light on him, leaned down, and suddenly thought to myself..."What is that big fluffy thing?"...confused me for a moment.. so close to my arm...and then it dawned on me...IT WAS A BIG, FLUFFY, SKUNK !...and I am praying, "Please, Lord, don't let him spray me...I have company coming tomorrow"....LOL...and he quickly went under my shop building...I had to laugh, all this time I was blaming an armadillo for the holes in the yard, but he is digging up worms....and they catch mice as well, so I will leave the stinker alone and hope he does the same...
❤

Wife is definitely feeling better.
She wants to go to Amish community today , just to see what she can find to buy.
This makes me happy....not going shopping , but that she's feeling up to it.
I'll take her to every farm there if that makes her happy.

Suppose to be in mid 70s today. The mid 20s tomorrow night.

We will have lunch somewhere.

Btw, I've lost 7 lbs ,since Monday week ago.
I'll show em , how I can get all those numbers down.

Y'all have a nice sunny day.

Jim

Chilly outside today. I will wait until noon before I go out to play today. Checked the paint in the storage container, surprised the oil based rustoleum is mostly dry already. Dry to the touch, probably another couple days before we can lean anything against it. I will soak a couple spots in the yard where I need to drill a couple holes for gate posts. Hoping to cement them in today. The GF called the storage place to ask about moving out by tomorrow, they said if we take a couple extra days they will just prorate the month and return the rent except for the few days of the month we use. I was planning to empty it by tomorrow but she keeps talking about paying the extra month to make it easy, but with them agreeing to prorate I guess I am not in a hurry. Supposed to be almost 70 tomorrow and the net few days so today I will take it easy and give the aches and pains a rest.

I'm currently loosing 1lb a day.

Just staying around 50 g of carbs a day , and 10 minute walks 3 -4 times a day.

My GF has been doing KETO for about 2 years now. Due to extended pain and inflammation related to a broken ankle she had plenty of time to research and ultimately cutting out the sugar and carbs relieved the inflammation, greatly reduced the pain, and is helping her feel better overall. I have been transitioning to a KETO diet for a few months now, aside from the occasional dinner treat taking the kids to the local diner after they help with the occasional big project, but eating the taboo food occasionally is OK, just save it for special occasions.
If you want I can get you the recipes for KETO waffles (delicious in taste and texture), KETO chocolate pudding (tastes pretty darn good), KETO corn bread, KETO pizza dough, and a few others. There was a learning curve but she perfected these and they are pretty darn good.

I will add, just because I have the link I just sent to my sister, a video that helps introduce people to the benefits of KETO.

He also has plenty of other videos, and a book Lies Your Doctor Told You.
Not saying doctors intentionally lie, but many times they are restricted by the FDA on information they are allowed to tell their patients.

Yesterday the pus was yellow and not pink/red. Bailey is moving better but was angry because I was still flushing her abscess. I started her on a course of Amoxicillin twice a day for 5 days. She got the first doses yesterday and was more mobile this morning. Her abscess was not as painful or as full of pus. Hopefully this heals fast now.

No more getting peed on but I got bit twice yesterday. My finger hurts but no swelling or weeping. It bled a lot so I am not worried about infection. She got me on the other forearm as well and that one took its time to bleed so I got worried about that bite.

But that was cut short so my brother could rescue a 97 year old fellow fire fighter that had a bad tire. I strung up the line and called it day since I had a follow up appt.

I now have another blood pressure medicine. I pointed I fast most days so the sugar number should be considered in that context. Looks like my coffee and donuts in the mornings will become just coffee.

Tomorrow should have been oral surgery but I will be doing more gas lines.

Not getting much done today...hubby could not get his zero turn lawnmower to start after he cut the grass down to the old place...of course, he wanted me to help push it under the car port...I could not...told him to get the battery charger (too late to buy a new one) and charge it up....he went down after he cleaned the bank and again tried to get it going...no go..I went down to retrieve my truck...I checked the gas on the 0 turn...it was fine, told him to set the seat back down...which he argues with me about....so I just sat it back in position, turned the key...and PTL...it started...but I got a go to somewhere look...LOL...I told him to get down here to our place and put it up...again, it stalled just as he tried to get into the shed with it...I touched it, told him to turn the key and it started...I know, the Lord has his way of making me laugh...today was it...but hubby is not laughing...LOL

good luck, hope you have more luck with fruit trees than we do....we have clay soil also but all trees I have tried to plant so far died before they grew. We have existing blueberry bushes that do ok, and existing fruit trees that don't hardly produce fruit no matter what we spray them with and fertilize with. I think we just get too much rain here for them.

More goat problems, one of them now has mastitis. She might not make it. Did take her to the vet and he gave me some antiinflamatory pills and gave her a few shots. Every morning I go to the barn I dread looking in her stall....
She has 3 large boys I am currently bottle feeding. Better get going I guess.

Weather went from 2 days of thunderstorms and rain to really cold again. I want last week's sunshine and warmth back!!

Doing a new diet , 3 day military diet. Seems pretty easy to me so far, I am on day 2. Easier than the Indian 1 week diet. I have now lost a total of 5 lbs fat ( I wait a few days after I do a diet to see what was water and what was real ). I put in a few cheat days in between diets so I don't lose motivation and it works for me. Made a cake with strawberry frosting ( home made) before I started this diet and had 3 pieces. It almost made me sick , I should have stopped at 2.....lol. Another good thing about doing these diets, you lose your tolerance for junk food. I do at least. It's like alcohol, if you drink a lot, it takes a lot to get drunk. If you don't drink at all for a while , 1 glass of wine will make you feel almost drunk. I think sugar works that way too.

Have you tried giving her some Today? Milk her out and infuse 1 tube per teat. Today (Cephaperin Sodium) One-Day Treatment Lactating Cows Boehringer Ingelheim - Milking | Goat She

Happy Birthday to the kid, Terri! Hope she has an awesome day!
Hoping to get some more planting done today. Have sugar snap peas soaking and ready to go.
Mom not answering her phone all weekend, and I suspect the ringer got turned off because she messes with stuff, so we'll be stopping by there today.

She had a good day. She got a call today from our car ins offering her a $1500 settlement because of her foot injury in the wreck. We were just happy her medical bills were covered, we weren't expecting anything else.

Only symptoms I had from the vaccine seemed to be fatigue & arm feeling bruised. I was already sore so not much difference. I slept all night & then around 6am mom wanted something to eat. I cooked for her and then slept until 3pm when she woke me up wanting me to go to the post office & get food. Came home and slept a few more hours. New pillow is great. I keep having to push the cats off of it because they love it too. The cooling gel doesn't actually work.

I need to go to the store tomorrow to get bleach so I can pour it down the condensate drain and hope my AC will stop leaking water in the air circulation compartment.

Called HomeDepot's customer service line to ask if they could have the next toilet tank packed better. I was told that the CS in store should have re-ordered the tank and given a discount on the new one because it arrived broken and caused injury (she was horrified about it cutting my brother's finger). I said they were understaffed there. She said unfortunately they couldn't give packaging instructions, but that she was issuing the discount and ordering the new tank for me. It should arrive April 1.

I'm about to get some stew to eat.

Just got back from 3 days of work in Missouri. It sure felt good to go back, and a lot of the guys came and told me they were glad I was back. I done got used to not working though, being off for 7 weeks. Being in the cab for ten hours was kind of hard the first day. And today I blew out a hydraulic cylinder on my left work head and ended up getting covered in hydraulic oil. But I'm so glad to be back to work that I wasn't even mad...

Keeping on track with no carbs.

Losing them lbs.

Wife gotta go for mammygram.

Then I gotta go next town over , pick up a prescription for my friend Doc ,as he had surgery yesterday.

Squeeze a late lunch in sometime.

We got 3.5" rain last night , so all outside work is on hold.

Y'all keep it between the lines.

Jim

Slow morning.
Sunny but muddy outside.
Dinking on the radios.
Wife's cell phone "upgrade" delivery date changed to today.
Hope to copy everything over to wife's new cell so she can start using it tomorrow.
Lunch.
Wife is officially retired and home. Chased her around the house until we both were out of breath, took 3 or 4 seconds.
Thinking about a nap now.

I've lost 10 pounds since the last week of Feb. I do the Carbohydrate Addict Diet. Works a little slower than the Green Smoothies, but is more sustainable for the long run. Am within 5 pounds of where I was 3 years ago when I went to FL for a visit.

I did a liver flush Monday as my gall bladder was hurting. Soo many gallstones gone now!

I got the J&J vaccine yesterday. That's the only one I consider a vaccine and when I go visit in May, it would be a problem if I don't get one. I did pre-treat as suggested in another thread, zinc, D3 and C. Arm doesn't even hurt at all and still have had no symptoms of any kind. Won't be getting a regular flu shot.

In other good news, the banker at my little brother's credit union couldn't tell me what was n there until we do a small estate affidavit, but when I said I had to pay $1100 for cremation, he said I am covered. Thank you God and little brother!

This morning, I walked.
Next walk dogs.
Clean porch.
Fill out wills--not getting done yet.
Rest!

What happened to the doggie? Hope she feels better
She was attacked protecting me.
She has small puncture wound in her neck.
Her bark collar saved her life.
Massive dog on steroids is in dog pound for check.
My dog wasn't the first it attacked, but she will be the last.
Judge ordered it to be put down.
So she is getting lots of love and attention from me and grand daughter.
All other dogs and other animals have been removed from premises.
Owner is in jail for animal abuse among other things.

@Grimm I get it. I have multiple machines also.
Aaaannndd, Went and picked up my birthday present yesterday - a couple weeks early. But you can't just pick this sorta thing up at your local department store.

It's a 1906 29-4 cobbler machine - I'm in love 😍 I named him Sid (Sidney Singer - haha). I am hoping to make slippers and have been working on my own pattern so now need to get back to it.
Nice!

Its a sad situation all theway around. Bad owners raise bad dogs and usually the dumb animal has to pay.Hope Strawberry full recovers.
