Just finished a ferocious game of dominos with my daughter. She won. Now she's off to Ledges State Park with her mom and little half sister. I kind of wish I was going too, Ledges is kind of the crown jewel of Iowa's state park system. Lots of trails, steep ravines with dark woods, 80 foot limestone bluffs, and a shallow sandy creek for kids (and adults) to play in. There's one paved road through the park and instead of building bridges over that creek, the Roosevelt administration public works crew just built the road through the creek. The road and creek cross each other four times in less than a mile and kids line up at the crossings waiting to get splashed by the cars driving through. It's traditional to gun it through the water and splash the kids as much as you can...😁

A huge tree fell on the fence a couple hours ago,all the rain I guess, vut it wasn't that old.
So hubby is trying to get it off the fence but will need some help. He said he'll get as much as he can .I told him to leave it alone till he gets help. Does he listen to me,noooo.

Heading up the mountain to retreive the safe - oh boy! Any weight lifters here, c'mon over 😂 Otta be interesting.

Hubby said he was going to leave our big gun safe because he didn't want to have to move it. I asked him where he was going to put the rifles? He said in the new gun safe. I asked who was going to be moving that one. The old gun safe is going to be up here in a few weeks.

Yesterday, after my walk and walking dogs, I PC'd macaroni and cheese. Melted velveeta style cheese in slow cooker and added chicken broth. Just not enough. It tastes great but hard to get out of the jar at room temp. Today, I will put jar in microwave to see if that helps. I'm going to have to use less cheese and more broth. It's an edible learning curve. LOL

This morning, I went yard sailing with a friend and then to the Easter egg hunt for kids at Church. Only got one pair of shoes at sale (Skecher Delites) for $1, but my friend had a box of jars and a big bag of Jeans and jean shorts for me in my size. So it was a success overall!

In a bit I will walk dogs and that may be it for exercise.
Will sweep house.
Thaw meat and veggies for making dog food tomorrow evening.

We didn't move our huge safe when we moved, and left it with the new owners. They don't seem the type to want it, but they could sell it. So, we are on the lookout for a new one.
Lots of cleaning today. Great day for hanging laundry, and the third load is ready to go out. Boiled some eggs for the kids to color this evening. We don't have white egg layers, so they'll make do with the more tan and very light green eggs. Yesterday I worked up a dirt area outside the kitchen window, about two 8 ft long areas. Went through the dirt, took out lots of rocks, added alot of aged cow manure, and bordered it off with some old bricks that were laying around. It's ready to plant onions on one side, and maybe mint on the other. Granddaughter is working at the burger place today, so we all went to lunch there. Grandson is at a boy scout event for the day.

Today is catch up, work this week has been very demanding... I did not have time to do a number of chores. Now I have lots of plants that went a week without water, not good... They are all over grown but wilting... not a pretty picture. I need to sort out what I can keep and what needs to be discarded. I still have lots but I am not happy.

Thats sad Urban, hope you can salvage some of them.We have done things like that too.

Ok no more self promoted news anchor, yall will have to decpher the news for awhile now,I'm taking a break.
I have lots to do and back is fine again now so no excuse.
Its spring and everything is greening up nicely.
Hubby said don't worry about the vines and forest coming over the fence ,we have plenty of room. And less grass to cut,I agree.

Mrs. Sparky surprised me with an early birthday present. She signed me up for a 3 hour forging class!

I got to turn half a horse shoe into a knife!

Starts like this:

After forging:

Then after grinding:

Will it win "Best in Show"? Probably not, but it was an experience I'll never forget.

Learned a bunch, most of all that I don't think forging is for me.
That's a rabbit hole I can't afford to go down right now... ;)

I helped the service department with a water main break for two large distribution warehouses last night and today.

I was waiting for the main water line to slowly pressurize back up and a pair of geese landed to check me out. I think they thought I might have food. 🙂

You can see Carowinds is in the background. I love roller coasters 🎢

Today has been busy with garden stuff.

This evening when the wife changed her IV bag there was air in the new bag line..... Not what you want on an IV going into your heart... I had to suit-up, disconnect the line, purge it, then re-connect the line and reinitialize the IV pump. I am not a nurse and it is a little nerve racking to have to deal with this, but if we went to the ER they would freak out as most of them are not allowed to handle the medicine that she is getting. We learned that the hard way at a hospital, the nurses on the main floor were not allowed to change her bag, she had to be in a cardiac ICU ward for them the handle it...

Stay Strong. Sounds like your doing a great job.
Your in my prayers.

Jack of all trades, Urban. You're the best one to do it! I remember a couple of two week stints that husband had a line put in, and I had to do the meds every 8 hours. And make sure it was exact and sterile and every 8 hours. That meant 7 hrs of sleep at the most for me. But I did ok. And it kept him out of the hospital. The hospital can be a dangerous place sometimes.

Glad you were able to take care of it! Much less stressful for her also (even if your nerves got a little exercise.)

I was gonna say, be careful. It's addictive. Hubby loves to "tink" and beat on orange metal.

Ours is a jewelers safe - about 3K lbs. I think with something like 5 layers of titanium in the door (don't quote me, but crazy heavy). You might ask at a local or semi-local jeweler if they have any old safes or know of any. When we got it, it was free but we had to move it, then I want to say about $180 to reset the lock by someone licensed to work with such a safe. Overall, pretty reasonable for a safe nobody can just load up easily.
We got it on the service rig - took about 6 hours! Have to call Monday to get a piece of equipment so we can unload it and get it into place. Hubby and I are both about spent. Nothing really strenuous, but slow and very concentrated/calculated so no accidents.
Also stopped and saw a neighbor/friend we hadn't seen in a while. She is actually the one who watched my children when they were little. It was nice to catch up a bit.

Nice work!

A technoweenie proving himself.

I burned the pile of stuff that I have collected over the winter. Removed the dead weeds along a fence line and from around the yard and garden area. I got my irrigation water running and all 32 sprinkler heads were good, no broken pipes, right up to when I hit one with my mower. Some of the sprinklers had problems and I either fix them or replaced them.
I need to buy about 15 new brass impact sprinklers and I will be done with all the plastic rotators. At $15 each, it's not a small investment.
I cleaned the barn where I park my tractor so now I can get it in even with the brush hog, well most of it goes inside.
My wife started seeds in my shop on Wednesday and she has sprouts already.
Heat mats and bright lights really help. I'm hoping she has enough flowers started so we don't have to buy a bunch.

Emptied the rental storage container and brought everything home to the GF's new storage container in the yard. It kept 6 of us busy for half the day, then it was time to relax. I think I should sleep good tonight.
Thinking about how I will hide the Easter stuff when they are at church tomorrow. I used to make treasure hunts where the kids had to decipher the clues to go from one spot to another until they got their treasure. I am planning that for the Easter candy tomorrow. The boys are older and played the treasure hunt so it should be interesting to see if they can figure out the hints. Hints are usually in some sort of rhyme so I have some thinkin' to do.

I got a refund on something I ordered in May 2020 that never arrived (from HomeDepot). I realized a $90 item also never arrived but couldn't prove it (other one I could prove as it showed as never shipped in their system). The more expensive thing I completely forgot about bc it was the height of Covid & things were crazy. It was supposed to be delivered to my friend's house & never made it, but it's too late to get a refund bc it has been a full year & it was listed as delivered. Friend said it never showed up. I remember we ended up going to a different store & buying one bc it didn't show up, but again, hectic and my memory sucks.

Picked up new toilet tank & made sure it was intact. Went to the grocery store & got meat.

Brother cooked some chicken in the pressure cooker.

Sunday should be clean up day. We don't celebrate holidays so it's just another day, but Sunday is the day my brother agreed to be cleanup day.

Bless your heart, that has to be hard to do.

So far worked in the garden and talked on phone to daughter about her new peeps, you'd think they were all the cutest peeps around. This is her first peeps. She is waiting for Amazon hen house and really got upset today with another delivery dste. Talked about pen construction.
Now I need to get busy with house .

Bailey is almost 100% healed. The abscess was no longer filling with pus and the hole was almost healed. She was in better spirits on Friday before we left for my folks' place. I made sure she got the full course of antibiotics in the week before we left and she was even allowing us to stroke her from head to tail tip without growling. We will see how she is when we get back tomorrow.

I am having trouble finding a gas single burner stove for our evac kit. I was looking at the Coleman Sportster duel fuel stove but no one has it in stock. I liked it because it uses their lantern base and the parts are easy to find and replace. (I use to restore Coleman lanterns as a hobby before the kids were born.). Anyone know of a similiar stove?

When we get home I am going to start putting the new Bobs together. I really need to get this stuff done NOW! I have been lazy about the Bobs because I have been focused on the LTFS inventory and keeping our pantry stocked.
