Thanks for the update Sonya!! Hope power gets restored SOON!
power is back on, but internet is still out. We are still trying to catch up on stuff. The sheep or goats must have chewed through some of our wires connecting solar panels, so only half were working. I had to order new ones. We also need new batteries most likely ours are 6 years old ( Trojan deep cycle marine ) , plus need a backup generator since ours is 20 years old. I still have the owners manual and called the company ( Powerstrokes) to see if and where they still sell them. They don't . Stopped making them in 2013. Oh well.
Our road looks like a huge mess , the neighbors with their bobcats completely regraded all of it. But now all the gravel is gone. Not sure if this will be an improvement in the long run. We'll see
Today I really need to do laundry and hope the universe is kind to us for a few days and lets the power stay on so I can finish laundry and bake bread for the market Friday. Most of our area is still out of power, everyone has no internet. We got a text from Verizon yesterday that we are in a zip code they are giving free data to until the 5th , but not sure I trust them after not giving us the discount they promised on husband's phone so I won't be on here too long

Yesterday evening we heard the chickens making a lot of noise. I figured that something after them. I looked out the window and saw a large hawk sitting on top of the fence looking down in to the run. He couldn't figure out how to get down to the chickens. When I built the old run I took a roll of electric fence wire and ran the wire back and forth across the top of the run. Hawks and owls can't fly through that wire to get to the chickens. I grabbed the .410 that's always next to the back door and fired a warning shot over its head. If I see it back here again I won't give it a warning shot.
get a large plastic owl and put it on the coop. It seems to be working for us, but I haven't seen the hawks lately. Maybe they moved on
Don't shoot them, there are not a lot of them left....it's not like racoons

It sounds tough Sonya- hope and the community you get some help soon. With the flooding, would water have gotten into the petrol storage at gas stations?
we didn't have a lot of flooding, that was south of us, just wind and enough rain to bring down tons of trees on the power lines and some flash flooding that went down the next day
the gas station has no internet so they couldn't accept any cards ( good old cash still works) but they did have some power to run the pumps , it was closer to town so they got their power back sooner
Many areas around here are still out
But, NC had many more problems and flooding , and we are not that far away from there, could have happened here

Went to Kroger and Costco today.

Couldn't find the milk we wanted at Kroger. Costco was jammed with people obviously panic buying early on a Tuesday morning!!!

I think it's starting.
panic buying for what? DId I miss something?
Son went to walmart yesterday , still no water to be found there. We have some but I would like to replace what we used during the storm ( it got dirty)

Glad you have power!! Good to see you and know y'all are alright!!

We have no shortage of hawks or owls around here. I see them everyday, just not around the coop. We have a plastic owl. I'll set it up on the coop. I'd rather not shoot a hawk, they eat a lot of rodents.

It was Tuesday morning ... the place was jammed ... it took me 10 minutes of trolling to find a parking spot!! Carts were filled with water and paper goods among other stuff. The water section looked as if many had been there, as it's usually quite well stocked. they had plenty left, but clearly a lot have been sold.

Screen shot the text from Verizon. That way they can't pull a fast one later.

Just finished making pup food. Two hours start to finish. Small diced 7 lbs of beef (2 different kinds), bacon bits, sweet potato, brown rice, mixed veggies, beef broth, and shredded cheese blend. It is delicious!!! (One day I'm going to set some aside and have it for dinner)!!!

Soon will start human dinner ... Garlic Rosemary NY Strip Steak with a Sherry Cream Sauce, and corn on the cob.

I was wondering... I looked at the US fire map. There's only 3 fires in your area. All 3 are prescribed fires. One directly east of walla walla, one to the southeast and another ene but further away.

Yep prescribed- niece said they did everything right but the wind shifted and it got out of control. I don’t care if conditions were right (humidity). Things are dry! Dumb.

A couple days ago we wadded up the last of the Forest Service tape where they marked all of the areas where they started spot fires on our property. One of the trees they burned by "accident" was the largest Douglas Fir tree that I've ever seen in this state. I was sad to see it go. It withstood hundreds of years of lightning strikes, droughts, fires etc. But it couldn't withstand a Forest Service prescribed burn. There was no doubt enough wood in that one tree to build a good sized house.

A couple weeks ago I ordered a replacement hydraulic hose for my log splitter. I never heard back from the company, even after I sent 2 emails asking about the status of my order. So today I took the old hose in to town and had a new hose made. I just finished installing the hose and added 5 gallons of oil. The hydraulic tank holds 5.7 gallons, so I had to buy 10 gallons of oil. Oh well, next time I change oil again I'll only need to buy 5 gallons. If the hose ever shows up I'll hang it up in the tool shed just in case. I don't mind having spare parts around.
Got another load of gravel delivered today. I'm putting gravel down where I want to build a parking garage for the two ATV's, side by side and the big snow blower. I'll probably park the truck and the tractor in the barn this winter.

Filled a cart at Walmart while I was in the bigger town. They were stocked up except for distilled water and fresh vegetables.
Thanks for the reminder on the distilled water, we're down to only about 10 gallons on hand. We usually keep 20 - 30 gallons for use in our battery bank. 20 gallons should last a year or more, unless we have another China flu scam. Last time I couldn't find distilled water anywhere.

I learned how to replace the rotors, calipers and brake pads on the car today. Got the front done and tomorrow it's the rear. I only knocked hubby around a little bit when he got out of hand while giving instructions. Talk like that again and I'll let Mo kick him in the shins. Just throw a hammer already!

Soooo when someone asks what you had for dinner, you say dogfood? 😒😂

Between my bad shoulder and non stop rain I have been pretty boring. I managed to plant some garlic today with just one arm.

The arm is getting better but it can't be rushed.

How long has it been? And how much longer do you get to be sporting the brace?

Weird weird day today

First I stopped to the Bank
Went to gas station to fill car with gas
Then I went to see JC its on my way
He did hurt one wrist he had a limb on the wrist
He said he is going to be ok
I told him ..he maybe should see the Dr
He said ..I will be ok

I was in the other little town
So I took the road to take the Highway
There was traffic light - light was RED
I was waiting for the light to be GREEN
Behind me in a car there was a major IDIOT
Honking non stop at the RED light
Light did turn GREEN so I did move forward
The RETARD was yelling arms in the air in his car
I just did a F-U sign ...he did accelerate I was 🤪 LOL
Thinking RETARD lol is speeding
He did not see THE Police car parked by the road
Police did stop his car ....I am sure he got a TICKET 🤣

So I just took the Highway to go do my grocery shopping things
That was my day....now ..I just writing this
And soon will be in my bed..so tired !

Have a good night !!!

Ran the bushhog for several hours this afternoon. Finished the pasture by the hwy then started on the ‘high’ field. It wasn’t bad, only took an hr or so to finish it. Called it a day at that point. Will start on the main pasture, maybe tomorrow. Have other obligations then…

Found out tonight that the Native American festival starts tomorrow at the Moundville Archaeological Park. Carp! I have so much that I need to do… but I missed the festival last year. I really want to attend at least one day, tomorrow is out, maybe friday will work. Saturday will be the weekend crowd with kids, don’t need to fight a big crowd.

Just passed 3 weeks. 6-8 weeks is what I was told the last time I dislocated my shoulder. I exercise it every day to get my mobility back.

I have to be careful I don't over do it.

Give it time.
