No water this morning. Going down to the pump house to see what's wrong. It's always something when your living off the grid.
no water pressure here
just hiked up to the spring, plenty of water flowing in the pipe so not sure either
we just moved a semi frozen 55 gal drum in the house and trying to defrost and fill it up

Fortunately my issue was just a dead battery from the cold temps. The wife had to use a couple gallons of distilled water, that we keep on hand for the battery bank, to water the chickens.
I hope you get your water system figured out.

Last night I chilled my bean soup on the porch. That stainless steel pot sure holds some heat. Almost frozen now, time to split-up in portions for freezer and fridge. Then boil some eggs and bake some potatoes for the family potato salad recipe. And... get the computer I want to reprogram set up? Maybe, just maybe.

Daughter in rehab gets a zoom call soon, so husband is setting up for that. She made her 30 days on Friday, so doing well. Going to tackle the inside chores afterwards, don't need to do anymore outside. I had so many layers on for animal chores, it was ridiculous. Little granddaughter just needs to run out some defrosted water bottles to the rabbit hutches.

Had one of those little rotisserie chickens, so made up a batch of broth from the bones. Turns out my Mom really likes it, so I'm happy to make a lot of it for her.
Picked up a truck load of firewood from a roadside stand; it's too big so I have to cut it down for my stove, but it was available and cheap. I spent most of yesterday splitting and cutting and stacking it in my garage for easy access for fear of getting sick again. It's been 40 years since I swung a maul and I'm certainly paying for it today. Then my brother came over and put a new carb on my big splitter and got some more wood split for me out of the big pile. So I'm pretty well stocked for the cold spell.
I still have half of the load on my truck but not dealing with it today. Daughter is visiting and we stayed up waay too late last night. So a lazy day by the stove and Murder She Wrote on the tv.

Tomorrow is 1 month since I had a drink. I'm sure glad I quit without any 'programs'. And sure hope it works for her.

Edit: I'm sure she's getting plenty of support, advice, etc... but if she wants an 'average joe' person for a 'pen pal' about it with experience.... I'm available.

She looked very well in the zoom call. She's tried to quit and detoxed so many times that I can't even count. She goes to rehab and checks out within a week. This time she stayed. So her 30 days was last Friday, and she's scheduled to leave a week from Wednesday with outpatient meetings three nights a week, so she can still work. Our youngest daughter visited with her in person yesterday, and sounds like they had a good visit. Daughter in rehab has a boyfriend who is an alcoholic and is not sober at the moment. He did a three day detox last month, but she thinks he's drinking. She doesn't live with him tho, so not sure how that relationship will go, I'm guessing it won't. Her and our youngest daughter, the pharmacist live together.

So I decided to take it easy today. All I've done so far is change the battery in the well pump generator, nap, made a batch of jerkey and smoked some Swiss cheese. The wind has picked up some and it's too cold to work outside. Haven't decided if I'll change oil in my Jeep or take another nap. High temp today was 23 degs, not bad.

When in doubt, NAP!!

you are like us, you do too much and then get potentially injured! Hope you feel better soon and don't overdue in this weather!!

water pressure is still bad, but it's flowing. We do now have 2 55 gallon drums of water in the livingroom, one has ice in it. I am so glad when this freezing will be over!!! We got more snow too and it is now sticking , was not earlier. I hope we dont get a lot
Animals are all taken care of, the goats didn't want to be in that room but we put them in anyway. They will thank us later....

After all that today, I had a shot of vodka. Today was the day for it

Got the last stairway light wired this morning, that project is officially done. Took it lazy the rest of the day. Except making home fries for lunch and catfish for dinner. A balmy 30 degrees right now, expect 15 by daylight.

Snow expected but south of me. Read Mobile might get an inch, they're due, it's been over a decade. I can hear the water pipes bursting already. Folks south of Livingston haven't seen this kind of cold in ages. They're going to suffer, homes aren't build for prolonged cold. :(

Just dropping in to see what's happening, putting wood on the fire! Hubby fell asleep on the couch watching a movie, I'm on the other couch. Bear is actually on a dog bed, usually he's pushing me off of the bed or couch!!🙄🤔😃 The cats have Hubby's recliner! It's warmer out here in the den than back in the bedrooms, everyone looks comfy sleeping!! I'm awake!!🙄

@hashbrown is that "Bee zoo" for pronunciation on your sweet little puppy's name? they are so cute. I met a bichon frise that I thought was quite adorable, much cuter than photos I see online. Oh well, no pocket-book sized dogs for me right now.
Young cats are still hanging around out front during the day. Not sure where they're nestling down at night. Saw a good sized oppossum on the back porch towards sunset. Yes, he really was cute too.
Winter time change of pace around here for me. Didn't go to church today. It is 24° right now.
I guess everybody, nearly everybody, will be pretty fired up about the day's events.
God, bless America and keep us safe.

Had to change Mom's cannula after midnight (on Sunday). Discovered her Dexcom sensor wasn't reading and that it had peeled off. Got that fixed up. Didn't get to sleep. Left around 4:45am to go pick up my brother from sleep study and made it around 5:50. He didn't get out until 6:15.

Went to Walmart up on Colosseum to look for stuff we can't find locally. Then straight home. Napped a couple hours. Got back up and cleaned but was barely able to move and had trouble with it. Got countertop cleaned enough that my brother was happy and hugged me. He was in a better mood bc he slept well for the first time in years. He got to sleep on a Tempurpedic mattress.

Went back into town to help friend with some plumbing issues. Met one of my brother's former co-workers from Pizza Hut. Her cousin lives in the area where my friend moved. The cousin was one of the crackheads my friend's ex used to bring over and is one of the potential fathers of the 4-yr-old.

Went to local Walmart (per Mom's request) to get some stuff on her list. Then to TSC (also per Mom's request) to get sweet feed for the cows. My brother had to pick it up because I could barely move. I was limping through the store and couldn't bend worth crap. I did help clean out the sink at my friend's house (someone had dumped green beans into the non-garbage disposal side-- I suspect the 12-yr old) and swept the floor. He had to demo some cabinets and there was a bit of a mess from it. He got his fridge moved to a better spot though.

Found out that the late veterinarian's son (who also hires friend's mom for odd jobs) lives around the corner pretty much and friend was invited over to a bbq. The 12-yr-old isn't happy that they are too far for fast food now but it will be better for her health and their budget to have home cooked meals instead. They plan to make a garden with veggies and fruit and stuff. Vet's son has cattle so they can be a source of barnyard fertilizer. I'm thinking a greenhouse might be good eventually to protect plants in extreme weather.

Fed the cows and then had to show them where I put the food since it took them awhile to come after I called them. Cooked for Mom and then dragged my aching body to bed and racked out until around 10:30pm. Been checking e-mails and forums since then.

It's 0621 central time, and I'm sitting at my gate waiting to board my flight to Denver. I'll connect to my flight to Phoenix there. In Phoenix I'll play the rental car lottery - What kind of car will I get this week? - and then drive 3.5 hours to Indio, CA. I would've flown to Ontario again, but we're scheduled to finish the Indio project in a few days and then move to the west side of Phoenix, probably on Sunday. So it made more sense to fly into Sky Harbor.

I put my name in on 4 job positions close to home. I'm getting to old for this traveling crap. I'd rather freeze my nuggies off in Iowa all winter, than waste 4 days a month traveling 1500 miles for work. All 4 jobs would be a $2.40/hr pay cut, but it's totally worth it to be near home, or at least close enough that I don't have to get on a plane to get to work...
