Started The Witcher. Two episodes in. Recommended by a relative. Jury is still out. So far I have enough interest to keep going.

Afterward, I've seen some indications that the storyline goes off the rails as the seasons progress. Any opinions here? Worth continuing?

Dune (Part One) ... again. Looking forward to the release of Part 2 later this fall.

I bought the p1 dvd when it came out, liked it. L8tr I got also the original movie on dvd. I saw Dune years ago at the theater, pretty sure I read the book first.

Since you posted... after seeing Dark winds earlier I put in the original Dune dvd, watching it now.

Edit... funny, I have the spanish movie channel. Neat to hear Dune in spanish... and of cousre a couple voices didn't fit the characters, that's always funny. Once in europe i saw and american monster truck race, dubbed in Dutch with french subtitles, laughed my butt off,🤣 it was funny!!!

Ha! That is awesome. :D

I started watching Fauda in English. The voices were totally wrong for the characters...Palestinians and Israelis killing each other with Hollywood voiceovers...totally didn't work. I ended up watching 4 seasons with subtitles just the voices would seem right for what was going on in the show.

To clarify...I like the modern Dune. There were two previous attempts at bringing the book to the screen, a movie by the Twin Peaks / Eraserhead guy, David Lynch, and a SciFi TV miniseries. I think the third attempt comes closer to the book.

The book is so dense, they have to leave so much on the cutting floor. I just watched a youtube video on the cut scenes from the modern movie, and they left some serious content on the cutting room floor to make the movie time under 3 hours.

Watched the current Dune part 1 last night, pretty good. It’s just one of those scifi stories had to wait for the technology to develop to be filmed in a believable manner. The ‘84 movie was pretty bad. Guess I’ll be waiting til next year for part 2.

Watching ‘Jaws’ tonight. Good part coming up, the 3 guys are at sea now, Chief, Hooper and Quint. Just heard the line… ‘you’re gonna need a bigger boat’! 🤣

Alaskan Bush People 🙄 my hubby loves them I'm over it lol

I never liked that show, not because of that family. It's that they were too easy to make fun of and the show went out of their way to exploit that. I see no humor in making fun of the village idiot(s).

I like the other one... Alaska last frontier, the Kilcher family. I found it realistic and interesting.

I like that one too

I used to watch Austin City limits on pbs weekly. Been ages since I saw anyone worth listening to. The show went pc, gave up quality for inclusivity. Think I've seen one artist worth listening to in the last 2yrs. Leave it to liberals in austin to ruin another...

Watching more Soprano's tonight...

Rainy day... when I wasn't reading my Western, I watched 'The Riddle of the Sands' with Michael York. I only turned it on to check out the sailing shots, lol... movie was okay, nothing to write home about, but some of the sailing shots were worth seeing. I like films with old wooden ships and boats, I should've been born in the 'Age of Sail!' Maybe I was in an earlier life, lol... sailing has always been sacred to me, it's like the ultimate freedom from modern civilization! Not a day goes by when I don't think of those primo island voyages off Baja, or my Salton Expeditions! Bucket list material, for sure... I'm just glad I did all that before I bailed outta the Socialist Republik of Kalimexifornia, lol. 😎

P.S. The film featured some old trains too... gotta love old trains! ;)

Finished the Soprano dvds. Was going to watch the Breaking Bad box set next but... Too much murder, depressing. The soprano's were fiction but the mob is real, imagine a job where your coworkers are all cold blooded murderers. 🥶

Plan to watch some Mash dvds later, need a good laugh.
