Since we are both a bit under the weather, we are going light. Fried squash, hand made noodles and gravy, wieners. Hitting around 100°F daily and the appetites are running low anyway. But, we are staying in the house, even without AC, I can keep it under 75°F/25°C with the house shut up well.
When I got up to water the garden it was at 23°F/72°F- by the time Helena got up and the sun came around the corner it was already 36°C/98°F and it was only 11 am...

Chef John’s Taco Zucchini boats are on the menu for tonight. Sounds totally different to me.

Wife made a Vegie Lasgna last night. It was pretty good but Aldente Got called in so they don’t have to shut clinic down For a half half shift, if she ever gets out on time, she has to pick up 3 packages and return 2. Its kinda of welcome to my world what Happens when I leave the mountain
its a half a day trip. Hers is already full day and wont be accomplished. By dinner time
If it’s a decent time I will heat that vegi lasagna. If not, the prepackage burnt brisket ends I bought for Wed night. .

We are having kielbasa and pierogies
One of my employees brought me to a dive bar in Niagara Falls for lunch that I should have picked up. Just couldn’t have alcohol on the bill for lunch. The Labatts Blue was a perfect compliment

Best pierogis and best polish sausage. I asked the waitress, is a local sausage, she came back from the kitchen and said no, its hillshire farms.

It’s all in how you cook it.

Must be. He usually grabs whatever is in front of him. Husband does the shopping.

I follow Chef John too! He has some great recipes!

Made some cannolis yesterday. Not the kind with whipping cream in them. Made from an old original Italian recipe. Luv the blend of baked pistachios and chopped up chocolate! Hubby really enjoys them!

I am fasting...Helena wants to stop smoking and is suffering...so I told I would take a bit of suffering with her and do some fasting. Will be good for both of us. I can drink anything I want but no food--how long will it take for her to stop or at least get down to a minimum of daily consume and then quit? Praying for her too, live free, Gary

That's sweet of you.

Taco night at my amish cousin's place was: two twelve packs of dorito shelled tacos from Taco Bell that her (english) son and his wife brought. Refried beans. The bowl of cut fruit I brought. Chips. And dessert: I brought a chocolate plate, also we had church cookies, and an apricot platz with ice cream. I don't normally eat Taco Bell anything, so it's heartburn time.

Zong Zi
Sticky rice with pork and black mushrooms wrapped in bamboo leaves.
Sometimes called "Sticky Rice Dumplings" but I think that's a terrible translation. Basically the Chinese version of dolmas but using bamboo leaves instead of grape leaves...and you don't eat the leaves.

Chef John is my wife’s favorite. Kent Rollins is mine. Between us, we eat pretty well whoever cooks.

I’m the dinner cook and hubby is the breakfast cook. It works well for us. Like you guys, we eat well. Our son in law is a professional chef for a billionaire and he has helped me a lot through the years on bringing up my “game” on cooking! Though I have always loved to prepare meals and try new things. Baking different breads and desserts is my favorite. We just don’t eat as many as we used to.

Larry was feeling well enough to make dinner..pork chops, potatoes and corn. I haven't eaten yet (had a chicken patty n 2 eggs late in day), so not really hungry plus he's coughed all over everything in this house today, what time he wasn't in bed, so if i was hungry, im not now. I appreciate that he cooked, but pretty sure he likely coughed on the food while cooking. Lol 😵‍💫
In his defense, I worked til almost 7pm, so I could only hear him and not see him. 🙄
