One of the hallmarks of modern liberals is that they don't believe anyone should ever be responsible for their own bad choices. No consequences...ever.

Yes there are people out there who made all the right choices and ended up in dire straits. Been there done that, got the t-shirt. Didn't now how I was going to pay the rent a few times. We're not talking about those people.

Lots of rain right now here on the mountain. Rained yesterday, raining today, supposed to rain tomorrow. Got the chickens and ducks taken care of. Treated the dogs and cats for fleas and ticks. Managed to get the yard fertilized before the rain so that should help wash that in. Moved my houseplants to the back deck. My daughter got notified yesterday that she will be working from home until further notice. ( Tech job ) She and her brother are still at the cabin. Other daughter is staying at home and schooling her 3 kids. 9,7 and 5. Bet that's fun o_O Saw in the local paper where huge numbers showed up at the county food bank and they are about out of food. Traffic is picking back up on the highway below the property now that they are opening back up here. My husband got my new roosting poles installed for chickens in the coop addition. Pretty boring in my neck of the woods! Going to mix up one of Rellgars sour dough recipes and give it a try.

You really believe that?!

You should go outside and talk to a few of them...

I did (and I'm not even living in the USA) and listened to heartbreaking stories they had to tell (in exchange for a coffee and something to eat).
Every one of those bums have a sob story. Boo hoo. Fools keep feeding them and giving them money, it just encourages more of them. Most bums chose to live on the streets because it pays so well.

Why do you say that? Because most of us don't fall for their BS? Tell me, how can you tell the ones that truly need help from the ones that are scamming a gullible fool?
True, you can’t always tell the difference in a scammer vs a person that truly needs help. I’m also not giving cash out though. I don’t like the thought of someone being truly hungry and miserable, so if I give a little food out to someone that’s a scammer along with those that need it them I’m ok with the loss.

I'm not totally heartless Brent. One time I did give a bum a bottle of vodka that was begging outside a fancy restaurant where the wife and I was having dinner.

Countless fundraising and tax has been poured to accommodate homeless people here in LA, then I realized it’s the poor mismanagement of the city and the ACLU fighting for their rights to refuse mental treatment that’s causing all this problem. No one takes accountability any more. So sick of it. So if anyBody ask me for money, I tell them, I have been donating 35% Every two weeks from my pay check.

One of my favorites was a guy in Daytona beach had a sign saying, why lie, I want beer money. Needless to say, I didn’t give him any money or beer.

My day was a good one! Hubby and I went to my favorite nursery and got plants and flowers for our large deck system and porches that face the water. The place was a pretty darn busy. Purchased some rose patio trees for the sun deck. So lovely! Picked up some wisteria for the columns of that deck. Found some pretty flowers and a small fern for the outdoor kitchen counters. Filled my many outdoor railing planters with purple and white pansies. Found a beautiful gardenia patio tree for the outdoor living room...still need some more plants out there. Whew! I’m tired! o_O

Sounds lovely you should post a picture when you get it all placed. I would love to see:D

You are so sweet DD! I will do that when I get the other pots filled. We literally live on our outdoor space in the summer...and down in the vineyard garden right next to the water. Sigh.

That sounds really nice. And a lot of work. I'd like to see some pics.
I'm hoping to start landscaping our yard next year. Last fall I managed to get the redwood deck on the front, side and rear of the house. I got a patio area dug out and the fire pit...is just a pit at this time. I still have some backfill around the rear and one side of the house to do, and bring in a couple hundred yards of gravel to put down between the house and the barn.

Today started out cold and windy. I managed to get the squeeze chute set and leveled. I only had 4 posts left to put in to finish the corral. It took all day to dig 2 holes in solid rock. I'll finish the last 2 tomorrow. I'm beat and calling it an early day. It's raining and I still have to put my tools away and get firewood for the house. Once the corral is done I have about a mile of new fence to put in. Plus I still need to repair the perimeter fence before the cattle decide to wander too far away.

Redwood decking is beautiful! Ours is not redwood. Landscaping and outside space takes a lot of work and vision of what you want. I researched and found lots of pictures of what I liked before starting. Sounds like you have a great start!

DD, is it getting close to time for your kids to get out of quarantine and join you at your house? Just wondering and was thinking about your drug addict neighbor.

Yeah the kids are planning to come the beginning of the week. They have been doing some projects on the cabin while there. Just upkeep and maintenance type things. Plus they both work from home. But I should have 2 more mouths to cook for starting next week. Been a long time since I have had kids under my roof other than for a short visit at a time. I have to keep reminding myself they are grown and not to cramp their style

As for the drug addict neighbor I haven't seen him in awhile. Not sure if that is good or bad. Both my husband and I have taken to walking around the farm armed during the day working and doing chores. Just a little sign that we might be old but don't get too cocky cause we aint dead yet!

Time to cook up some of their childhood memories. ;) I still get calls from the boys asking for certain recipes.

Upstate NY here: Was out at the grocery store yesterday, it seemed stocked up. Paper products were still scarce as were soups and anything with a shelf life. Cuomo has extended the stay at home order until May 15th. I've been working since I'm considered essential but my employer doesn't know if he has enough work to keep me busy beyond next week since most of our customers are shutdown. Might have to take a furlough. Don't know how much permanent economic damage we're going to see coming out of this, but we can be sure that it will be with us for a long time. And you can bet that these politicians are going to try and restrict more freedoms and liberty because of it, they're just laughing at anybody protesting their orders. Anybody who votes for a DEMOCRAT after witnessing this needs their head examined. Stay well and healthy all.

France and Switzerland: nearby hardware store opened up yesterday. Some reports that other stores will start opening next week. Nearby supermarkets are well stocked and pharmacy has hand sanitizers in stock. No shortage of TP. We still have to carry government papers justifying reasons to go beyond the house and not more than 1 km radius not more than 1 hr unless doctor appointment etc.

So nice to meet you Noboat! Welcome! I’m with you on politicians restricting our freedoms and ignoring the Constitution. The fact is there isn’t a true Democrat party anymore. It has been taken over by socialists. In my humble opinion we are going to have a very hard time economically. And if President Trump is not re-elected, we WILL BE just like Venezuela in a very short time.

Get prepared as possible. Grow food and stay armed!

I'm with you on all of that, I don't trust the government at all. President Trump is doing what he can and I hope and pray he get's re-elected, if he doesn't our country is doomed and our children are going to inherit an America none of us would recognize. I'm armed but can't get any ammo, running short, Cuomo closed all gun shops in New York. I like this thread, I want to expand it to keep track of the political situation around the country, especially in the Blue States like here in New York. I think it's very important that all of us stay up to date on what the Progressives are up to because won't get it from the media. What do you think.

I agree. With the news now being either lies, partial lies or removed, for our own good of course...the best resource we have are fellow Patriots and preppers. It looks very much like the globalists are making their move.

I would definitely agree with your opinion on the globalist's. Check out this link "https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCJkOZZrGNEJYDhzVwd24Bfg" have you heard of this lady? This is the 2nd video of hers that I've watched and I have to admit that I'm intrigued.

I learned about the real Bill Gates back in the 1980s. To say that he is an evil back stabbing, conniving con man, would be an insult to con men. He got his start by FORCING everyone to use Microsoft DOS on PCs. And the lengths he went to to crush competitors (like DRDOS) were unbelievable.

Early versions of Microsoft Windows were hamstrung by the antiquated memory management of Microsoft DOS, which forced you to put device drivers in "low" memory (640K) which your applications needed to run. This meant that if you had, say a mouse and a CD drive, you didn't have enough low memory left for your Windows applications to do anything - no matter how much memory your computer actually had. DRDOS came along and solved the memory management, allowing device drivers to run in "high memory", which actually helped Windows users tremendously.

But instead of updating Microsoft DOS to improve memory management, Gates put some code in Windows that would detect DRDOS and then disable Windows. Disable HIS OWN PRODUCT if the user is not using Microsoft DOS.

All he had to do was update Microsoft DOS, but nooooo, that was too much work. He was raking in millions by doing nothing, and DRDOS threatened that business model, LOL.
