On my survival grounds " my son " received a letter from the military wanting him to help them though " he has never been in the military " . His age at that time about 37 years old . While it was not a draft notice , it was very concerning . At least they never came knocking on his door . Why some are probably wondering their acute interest in him . The answer maritime skills .-- When or if the Democrats get their war going at the level they desire , the folks they will be looking at to grab , throw into the back of a van and haul off may be more wide spread than some are expecting .

Again :

Today, the draft in the United States is administered by the Selective Service System. Although at the time
of this writing the U.S. does not have an active draft, the SSS is in operation
and actively campaigns to get young men to register so that should a draft ever
be needed, it has ready lists of who is eligible. According to the SSS,
registration for the draft is required of all men ages 18 through 25
. Forms to
register are available at all U.S. Post Offices, as well as online. Failure to
register can result in a fine of up to $250,000 and disqualification from many
federal programs, such as student aid. This system has been in place since
1980.

Several questions concerning the draft arise each time the United States is
threatened with military action, or the United States threatens military
action. The first, and most basic, is: “Is the draft constitutional?” The
plain answer to this, noted in the introductory paragraph, is that it is.
Conscription is clearly anticipated by the Constitution. The Constitution did
impose one small but key restriction on a conscripted army – any allocation of
funds to support the army can only have a life of two years. Any allocation
thereafter must be reauthorized by Congress.
Since the House of
Representatives is elected every two years, this is a safeguard against runaway
armies. If the people are not satisfied with the way a draft is being run,
they can elect a House that will not authorize further funding.

As far as I am concerned, if you can pull a trigger you can fight. Not over some stupid liberal manufactured conflict but if a war comes to our soil. If you can't fight, you can do something else to support the fight. Someone has to manufacture ammo and load magazines.

Samuel Whittemore was the oldest soldier to fight in the War of Independence at the age of 78 years old, fighting at the Battles of Lexington and Concord. He was an old war horse with many wars under his belt. If he could drag his ass out to fight, so can I and everyone else with two legs and a trigger finger.

So, back to the topic...
Has any HCL member confessed that they are eligible to be drafted? (18-36)
...or are we all a bunch of old fogeys?

When I ETS’ed in September 1970 I swore that I would literally nail my feet to the floor in protest if they ever tried to recall me.
At least that way I’d be exempt from the walking infantry.

Old fart. I worked with a guy at the range that wore a 3% hat. We were talking one day about what would happen if a civil war broke out. I told him that if he dug me a fox hole that I would delay them long enough for him to get away as I couldn’t run very far and not fast at all.

The government has the right to form an army. No draft is mentioned in the Constitution but the right to establish an army implies the right to draft. In WWII Germany drafted young men. As the war progressed and Germany killed off the first batch they broadened the age to from pre teen to anyone that could walk. If things go really bad any government will draft anyone breathing in order to keep themselves in power.
