I got your point. There's been a worker shortage ever since the Covid Shutdowns when workers were paid to stay home. Now because of the back-log, and still supply chain shortages.... there should be more jobs than there are workers. We're in recovery mode now, there's a lot factors in play about how well it's gonna happen and in what ares, and how fast.

He's right. Basement/Couch Rider Boy can work as a pusher on a rig, or a deck hand, or fire-watch at a processing plant - - they'll be finding first lower-level good paying jobs, where they are surrounded by other guys making six figures - - and they latch on and move up.

There are plenty of good high paying jobs around, even for no skilled workers. A person might have to move to where the jobs are. I worked is several different states and several foreign countries during my career.

Over 10 years ago my general labors made $35/hrs with guaranteed 44 hours per week overtime. Plus they got 6 months vacation and room and board while at work. That came out to around $96,000 per year. Some mechanics made $150,000 per year.

Best I've ever done was $28 per hour. With all the overtime (as heavy equipment mechanic) I was on schedule for about $85k. Life was good and I liked the job, but then I really didn't have much of life with nearly two hours on the road travel time daily. Still.... I'd do it again, for about four years and then retire comfortably.
Hope thing improve in your area but I think you are very much an optimist. Trump is just one guy and his limit is 4 years, plus the congress and the courts. He is not a dictator so his power is limited. Half the government is fighting him with everything they have. Plus even if he was a dictator, he could not make the debt/deficit go away. I don't know what exactly you think he can do to make that happen. He can improve things, he can maybe push the problems a little into the future, but I doubt he can fix them. It would take a lot of sacrificing on everyone's part, everyone's standard of living would have to go down too. No politician will ever tell the real truth which is this: you cannot pay for massive social programs, unless everyone pays very high taxes. You cannot pay for a military that controls the entire planet, unless everyone pays very high taxes.

As you say, gas appears to be going down. In 2019 it was $1.78 at my regular Highway station. Gas almost doubled to $3.89 three (3) months after Joe Bribem took office. It was still hovering around $2.89 in December. Yesterday it was $2.39. Also, 5 of my regular grocery staples dipped below their last dollar mark yesterday. I never expected this kind of result so quickly. I thought perhaps next year. Dollar Tree items were a DOLLAR until Joe Bribem's administration. Dollar Tree is now/still $1.25. Now, if prices continue to drop (maybe not so much of a pipe dream anymore)... and Dollar Tree goes back down to it's name-sake, a DOLLAR, you will have to personally come to New Orleans and scoop me up from a pile of mush off the floor. It will be quite a shocking (but welcomed experience). Good talk.
