No spend day
Not really.You must be some kind of Bingo-Pro!
I buy at the first of the month $25 packet.
If I win that $25 goes into bingo bag and I go back to try my luck again.
Half of what I win goes into date night kitty(bingo, dinner for less $30).
The other half of bingo winnings goes into savings account.
Of course weather helps to save money too.
School closed-no bingo.
@Frodo and @Sentry18 Brother in law was a car salesman for years and SIL was in mgt. at a dealership. He says offer $500 over manufactures price (not suggested retail.) Also, the big companies are in cahoots with the banks so dealerships get kuddo points for financing. Don't mention how it will be paid for until price is settled.
So I'm totaling up my numbers for January. I put $200 in an envelope for groceries at the beginning of the month with a goal of making it last. Rounding, I have $52 left over! We did go out to eat the evening I lost my keys in the snow, forgot to take something out for dinner, and our dog got dog-knapped, but hubby paid cash so it didn't come out of the envelope. All up, $227 on food for the month. Our power was down $10 from last mo. (still too high.) And the real clincher, our credit card bill hasn't been this low in roughly 8 years. I think the only thing on it is a few utilities. I did find one item from my eternal list (the list of rare difficult to find items) that I did purchase $16. Actually Weedy found it for me So I am considering that I am still successful on my self-challenge to see how long I can go with no spending. I got another $200 in a new envelope for February.

Got to day 3 of not spending any money and broke on Saturday as I spent money on bulk fuel preserver from eBay. I used a promotional code and purchased 5 litres saving $35.75 or $7.15 a litre over what we can buy here so a big savings and more stocks towards our preps as well that we use all the time anyway. We are endeavouring to buy things in bulk amounts to save money and although it is a big output at first it does save a lot of money in the long run.

My wife has now entered that "sell it and make money" zone. She has sold more stuff on a local rummage sites and consignment stores in the last 3 weeks than she she did in the 12 months prior. She has been selling clothes, essential oils, craft supplies, kitchen stuff, a few small electronics, etc. A lot of it was new and unopened. She just told me this morning that she has brought in $1100 so far and still has several things listed. I was like "get back in those closets and find more stuff to sell!". The sooner she reaches her financial goals the sooner I can get back to buying guns!

Oh and I decided to participate in a low/no spend February on another website so I will see how I go. So far only spent $6.50 from a grocery gift card we already had bought previously and bought half price specials on 1 x tin of 460g milo and 1 x bottle of mouth wash saving $6.50.
Going to try and only replace what items we have used in groceries and household items this month and any super specials on items we usually buy for the home.
@Sentry18 that is a lot of money your wife has made out of items not being used in the home so good on her. I hope for your sake that she gets to her financial target sooner rather than later so you can get back to buying those guns again . It does sound like you may have enough guns and ammo though , dare I say it.

Absolutely not. Remember: You can never be to rich; to thin; or have to much ammunition.
I can actually join in the fray on this thread. The outcome of a New Year's resolution and a trip to the doctor which yielded a not so good A1C has put me on a diet. Goal is to both lose weight, and save money; eating less, and eating healthier. My reward is to keep the extra from my weekly "allowance", if you will, and the obvious health benefits of losing the weight. Past two weeks have gone well. I have stashed $20.00 each week, and lost a few pounds. The proof in the pudding (no pun intended) will be the next doctor visit, and a check on the A1C. It will ne nice to build a little nest egg in the process.

I wanted to make some cauliflower soup. Went to the store, all fresh cauliflower had a few dark spots, which could be cut off, but still, potential migraine mold. It was $1.89 a pound. I thought I'd look at frozen cauliflower, which I had never done before. $1.49 a pound, no cleaning, no waste. I bought 4 bags, so I will have some in the freezer for other batches. Why hadn't I thought of this before? I love having prepped veggies to just throw in the pot.
Went to lunch, 45 minutes away for Chicago hot dogs
Just so happens that the car dealer I bought my car from , 2018 Lincoln MKC, is close by.
So I stopped by to get them to replace the wiper blades for 3rd time because they're junk.
They said sure take 5 minutes , that'll be $40.
I said not warranty any longer? Nope, I said no thanks, $55k car and your charging me,? I guess I'll take it elsewhere for service and my next car will also will be elsewhere.
Went down the street to O'Reilly , young man replaced them with exact same blades as dealer, Trico,
$16.94 . With Veterans discount, (they seen my hat) Warranted 6 months.
Saved over $20, and made a new friend.

Pension day.

I had a very similar situation. My car needed a wiper on the drivers side. I had my mechanic replace it. Somewhere in the neighborhood of $15-$20.00. It was O.K. but really not as good as I thought it should have been. A few months later my daughter comes in the house after borrowing my car, and she is carrying the passenger side wiper. "This fell off." O.K. This has to be dome immediately so I ended up at Wal Mart. They replaced the wiper blade, and put everything back together for about $8.00. Now I have two different blades to compare, and the Wal Mart blade was light years better than the one my mechanic sold me. I had Wal Mart replace the driver side blade as well. I think Wal Mart sells Michelin wiper blades but I am not positive.

I started this project in December, almost finished. Over the last few years I’ve ended up with a lot of used medicine bottles in my herb room, some with droppers, some with caps. I don’t sell tinctures or teas, I give them away to people who need them. People usually return the used bottles.
I’ve been soaking then cleaning everything. It’d cost $150 to replace what’s in the picture. By cleaning all my old bottles that’s money saved. A royal pain to clean but worth it.
I need to order more of some items… Like 2oz amber bottles and 60ml HDPE plastic bottles, both with droppers and caps. When I finish cleaning what can be cleaned/reused I’ll know exactly what I need to order.

Don't you just love when things are well organized. They look nice all in rows etc.
It's been a few years since they were all nice, tidy and neat... I use 8oz, 4oz, 2oz and 1oz amber bottles... Just the last couple of years I've started using 60ml food grade plastic bottles which are great for travel kits, won't break.I'll be glad when I get everything cleaned and new bottles ordered. Good to go for several more years.
Edit... went back and checked some photos... started this project sometime last fall. It may or may not have been December. Family issues have ruled the day since Oct.

I used to have headaches too frequently. I finally went to the headache clinic (now closed) and was told they were migraines and was told that one of the causes is molds. There are some foods that have molds and I have tried to be careful with what I eat. Mold can be there, even if you don't see it. If you cut the mold off of something like cauliflower, what is to say the rest doesn't have mold growing in it too? Chocolate from Mexico is made with a process of soaking the cacao beans. The water gets moldy and they pour it or skim it off. Some chocolate used to give me migraines, some of it didn't.

@Weedygarden good thinking on the frozen veg versus the mouldy fresh ones. Didn't know they could or should sell mouldy produce. Here if it is like that due to health regulations they have to throw it out.
@Peanut good save on all the used bottles and yes they are expensive to buy new and you may as well keep using them if they are in good condition.
@phideaux it is amazing the price difference on getting car parts replaced and or servicing. I know we used to have my car serviced at a dealer which cost us $660 each time and then we heard from friends that there was a good garage that did servicing and now we pay only $159 instead which is a huge difference. They only charge us for additional parts that may need replacing that they find. We are also finding a huge difference in prices between stores on fuel preservatives and the like where we got ours $7.15 a litre cheaper on eBay than locally. All the savings certainly do add up.

@Sewing, I believe they usually do when vegetables have a certain look. If you look at cauliflower, which I do frequently because I buy it, it often has light spots on it. It is not that the whole head is bad looking. I have also seen where darker spots have been cut off. I am really careful about food. Cutting off dark spots and mold on cheese doesn't mean there isn't mold in the food, even if we cannot see it. I do my best not to eat older food because of migraines.
