Yea I know but I can't smell or taste much since I had Covid again.Well, if you cooked it........

USPS won't even deliver to me so I have to go in when they are open to get my mail-- and they aren't open long. Upside is that I get a free box. Every year I have to fill out paperwork, show my ID that has my physical address AND show a recent bill of some sort that shows my physical address. Not sure what they would do if I was off-grid. My landline phone bill is paperless and they need a physical copy. I looked at the requirements on the form and Voter registration card was listed as an option but the employee told me that is not accepted.
Well, anyway, we hadn't gotten the notice in our box with the paperwork to fill out. I went in to get my mail & my key wouldn't turn. She told me it was because I failed to turn in the forms. I told her I didn't get the forms. She said she personally put them in my box. I asked her when but she couldn't remember. Said I had to fill out the forms and bring in a bill. Last year she wouldn't print out new forms and I had to find them online and print them myself. They keep adding new forms to fill out too. It's annoying. Anyway, I zipped home, grabbed the electric bill, went back in & she was surprised to see me again but she took my ID & bill and made copies for their records and took the forms. As a note, a previous year I had filled out the forms and done everything they asked but they kept saying it wasn't the right time to renew. Finally they accepted my paperwork, photocopied stuff, etc and then locked my box. They lost the paperwork and not only did I have to pay to unlock the box, I had to pay for new keys bc they rekeyed it. This time it was only temporarily locked so I had to pay a $25 "late fee" over paperwork I never received for a box that is supposed to be free. They also wouldn't hand me my packages until I paid the fee. Postmaster has been bitter ever since I started getting a free box & does everything he can to make it a nuisance. I wish I could renew the stuff online but USPS won't let me make an account bc it claims my address isn't valid.
In the soap opera style drama in my area: Friend kicked his gf out today. Says its for good but we'll see. He was hoping to hook up with a female friend who we've all known for years. But she was engaged to one of his longtime friends. She'd been confiding in him that she was tired of the fiance treating her like dirt, ignoring her, etc. He's a narcissist & thinks he can do no wrong & has little empathy for her. She's had about 5 miscarriages at least and he'd told her if she couldn't give him a bio kid he'd dump her. Well, she dumped him finally & he did not take it well. She was too upset at his reaction to go ahead with plans to go to dinner with my friend and now he's down in the dumps thinking he has no chance with her. He might not, but they both need to heal a little first. He keeps wanting to jump right in to a new relationship bc he has a phobia of being single. My brother is hoping things will work out. We've long thought they would make a good couple but we'll see how things go.

My kids are 20 and 22. Their dad and I split up when they were 3 and 5. He has essentially been a dead beat the entire time.
Just got a child support audit. I reopened the case when he treated our older son like garbage and told our daughter he didn't have enough money to help her out with gas and to ask her mom. (mind you we pay for her car, gas, insurance, tuition, health insurance, counseling etc).
At any rate his measly $300 a month for the kids is now up to $117,000+
He has hired an attorney to fight it. I also just found out he bought a new house in October for $1.3 million.
He is a contractor in CA, Not sure how he was able to afford it, they have always lived beyond their means but if he would've just helped the kids out instead of making them feel like beggers, I wouldn't have even bothered reopening the case.
Such a piece of garbage. I hope the housing market falls and he goes bankrupt when construction drops.

He is also taking a vacation to Hawaii, and he was doing this when I was a single mom going through school and getting food stamps and boxes of food from the church. Once I got out of school he sued me for custody so I would have to pay him child support. He then filed taxes with the kids listed as dependents (whilst I had them the entire time, living in Los Angeles, he in Sacramento). Unless he's one check away from being homeless, disabled and lives in a camper, he has no excuse. find a nice Hebrew lawyer and skin his obviously tiny testes like an onion, then buy those kids matching cars. Rich White trash deadbeat dads need to live in squalor.

That's the truth and why I reopened the case. After 3 months of non payment his contractors license and any other license he holds in CA will be suspended. Then the licensing board can go after him. Good thing CA is so overregulated, this time will work in my favor!
Send him a tub of Crisco, tell him where that Mac truck of a lawsuit you're about to park is going. I see it two ways, settle for 3/4 now or if you have the luxury, make bleed and squirm for years.
I'm going with the latter. He won't settle for 3/4, so he can squirm for years. Least he deserves. My plan was to have the money if any go into accounts for the kids so they have it.
The kicker is, I used to work at the office (a long time ago when I was 19-22) and I know the state attorney assigned to the case, we started working there at the same time. He worked his way up as an attorney and I left and chose the medical path (should've been an attorney instead. Haha)

The post office is officially always hiring and always short staffed.
I've seen people complain on Nextdoor Neighbor that they haven't gotten any mail in two days. I guess they must have had a regular delivery person for decades. We sure haven't. Someone told me that our route was a training route. But then we did have some good postal carriers for a while, but I've been getting mail every three days for a number of years now, so I am used to that.

Micro-rant: After years of not using my Discover card because I got tired of hearing people say "we don't take Discover", they cashed in my bonus points leaving my balance at positive $1.15 (instead of the $0.00 I had maintained).
This was all it took to awaken the sleeping robots, so they are back to sending me junk mail weekly

DrJenner, I'm surprised they haven't already suspended his license. I don't know about California, but here they will suspend driver's license, garnish paychecks, and put people in prison if they don't pay. But since he's got enough $ for lawyers it is easier for him to avoid many of the consequences. Sadly, he may end up paying more in lawyer's fees than he would have paid for child support if he'd paid on time. But I think it sound like his goal is to just be a dick. I wonder if you can get a lien on his house and/or vehicles. In some places you can sue to take someone's house if they have more than one. People who do that sort of crap really tick me off.
My rant for the day is partially idiots in traffic who don't use turn signals and zip in front of you last moment or slam on the brakes in front of you. Then there's the fact that months ago I took my truck in to the tire place multiple times and asked to have my wheelbearings checked. My friend, Mitch, said it sounded like a wheelbearing was loose. The guy there, Jose, said "Then why doesn't Mitch replace it?" and gave me all sorts of attitude. Turns out he never checked after being asked numerous times. I don't know what he was doing, but he's a bit of a jerk to me when I go in bc he used to be friends with Mitch & my brother. Anyway, this morning the dealership called and said my wheelbearing needs to be replaced. I was salty because I could have gotten it fixed cheaper if Jose hadn't blown me off. Anyway, without the 9.95% tax, its $810 and they *might* have it done tomorrow. I have a rental vehicle up until tomorrow, although I can extend if I need to but hope not to. My brother is off Thursday so I can use the CRV then. I'm hoping the part comes in and the have it fixed before the rental place closes tomorrow. They also won't give me the note saying that the navigation DVD was bad until the finish working on the truck and I settle up the bill. So the seller is getting mad waiting for it. The rental vehicle has some very annoying safety features, the seats are not comfortable, and it has a ton of buttons and I have no clue what they do. The lady at Hertz was short-tempered and a bit rude. Ignored me when I asked how to make the seat lean back. Another customer came out to help me because I didn't see the right lever.
Another gripe is the tracking shows the package my sister sent me is at the post office (as of yesterday) but when I went to pick it up today they didn't have it.
Also, my stupid shoulder is still acting up and seems to be getting worse. Because I can't lift it, I've developed a rash under the arm. I had a bad reaction to some deodorant that made it worse. I had to put rash cream on it and that stuff stinks. At least there were helpful people at samsclub who helped load up the water cases.
Upside is my friend is done with his ex for good and has moved on to someone else who is a mutual friend. She's offered to come help me clean up and give me big hugs. And my friend has offered to put a suction cup grab bar in his shower so I can safely use it without falling (I've nearly fallen) until I get my shower fixed up.

Our 16 year old granddaughter flew in for Christmas we are driving one state over to visit her dad. 3 hrs into the drive she says oh I just got a text for a phone interview. She said she would call in a bit. Later on our drive I reminded her to call. She said my phone is dead. I said no problem just put the number in my phone. She says no it is dead dead. It won't power up at all. So I said do you have a car charger cord? No since she has apple ours won't work. I resisted the urge to point out her obvious lack of foresight. But she had until 6 pm to call in. I said ok next gas fill up we can get a power cord. Because she really wants the job.
So we buy her a cord and head out. The phone takes a few minutes to even power up. However it is only charging intermittently. Apparently the 12v adapter we had been using all day is now on the fritz. So she writes down the number and uses my phone. The message says you they are closed. It is only 5 pm. Well she is having a hissy fit. At which point I couldn't help questioning the wisdom of running her phone into the dirt watching tic-toc videos all morning.
This morning she gets up at my son's house around noon. I suggest maybe she try calling today. She goes on about the text said call yesterday by 6 or don't bother. That is not what it said by the way. I told her she did call yesterday twice, but whatever do what you want. I thought you wanted this job? So she calls and after being on hold about 5 min she hangs up. I was WTH. She said she would just try back later. I replied so you can get the we closed early for the holiday message. I told her she was probably doing everyone a favor by quitting now.

Below zero temperature and the wind conspired to freeze the heated water bowl for the community cats. To full I think, the bottom was liquid, but the surface was frozen solid. Out I go, and put the food and water in a windbreak container, hopefully that will help.
Tomorrow will warm up to a balmy 16, I'll rearrange things then.

I go upstairs to sweep the hallway, and it's obvious grandson is in the bathroom. And he's got towels under the door. And the window open. Why? Because he's up there using drugs. Now he's passed out on his bed. What an ass. 169 more days.
